Especially because he’s perfect. They absolutely nailed the face, and the detail on the outfit is astounding. And he’s a generous 1/6 scale, so definitely a centerpiece kind of figure. Plus BABY GROOT. It just couldn’t get any better. Unless, of course, they made matching statues of the rest of the cast…

You could say they’re moving quite… speedily.

And who better to be painted first than the fastest man alive? Barry Allen comes with both a masked and unmasked head, depending on how dreamy you want your display case to look. I mean, you have to think about your figures’ feelings here. But as per usual, we also got to take her out for a little spin! I mean that literally, because we gently put them on a table and spin ’em around to get all the angles. It’s very professional and fancy, you know.

I’m really loving the new direction the Bishoujo line seems to be taking. Sure, I love the classic sexy style Shunya brings to a lot of them (and that’s certainly not going away anytime soon), but I also appreciate the softer take some of them have been getting. Like Squirrel Girl or Ms Marvel, where the focus is more on cuteness than “wow T&A!” It’s not a style that fits every superheroine, so it’s nice to see the line both expanding to fit those girls but also changing a bit so they still look Shunya-illustrated but also not out of character!

Very ominous.

Anyway, they had lots of their more US-centric licenses out on display, like the Naruto Nendoroids… which are USA only! Weird, right? But cool. Well don’t worry, friends, the Marvel line is here to save the day! Just kidding, they are pretty strange too. Unless, you know, futuristic gladiator Wolverine is a totally normal thing I’ve somehow missed out on. At least Doctor Strange looks pretty true to form?

I will admit, Magneto’s scrap metal cape is absolutely amazing, and kind of ingenious. Could I do without the 6-pack armor? Yeah, maybe. Maybe that’s the appeal! But they’re really pushing the boundary of “what even am I looking at” with their new Harley Quinn & The Joker. Because these seemingly normal Play-Arts Kai transform into… robot Harley and robot Joker. Wat.

The Joker has some strange exo-suit going on and Harley looks like an extra from Bubblegum Crisis. I… I kind of love it. I usually find them way out of budget and not quite as detailed as the (much cheaper) PVC counterparts. But there’s one line I have always adored: DC’s Bombshells! They’re just so campy in the best way, and they always pull out great & creative sculpts for it.

This year they had quite a few out and about. Including the biggest announcement so far: Aquaman. That’s right, we now have male Bombshells! Sexism is over, because we can now get topless dudes with our scantily clad ladies. Batman and Nightwing next please. They also had Zatanna, Harley Quinn, Vixen, Jesse Quick (the Flash), and Starfire out on display. Check them all out after the jump!
