A while back, Azone announced that they would be bringing Madoka Kaname from Puella Magi Madoka Magica into their 1/3 line of dolls. Fans, of course, freaked out: of course personally I was hoping for a Dollfie, but beggars can’t be choosers! Actually that saying is stupid and of course we can because I won’t be buying the Azone version (I don’t do decal eyes on dolls bigger than 1/6 scale) but if Azones are your thing this Madoka sure is adorable!
Like most really big dolls she doesn’t come with a lot, just her bow and so much cuteness it’s hard to look directly at her. They did a much better job with Madoka than I expected: some of their other 1/3 scale anime girls, like Saber, have been pretty huge flops in terms of both likeness and quality but she is just SO FREAKING CUTE. Okay, I’ve said that like 4 times but come on. If you are a true follower of Madokami you can pay the cool sum of ¥60,000 for her royal cuteness and she’ll be gracing you with her presence in July.

I am not sure why Yamato decided to change their name to Arcadia, and I’m even less sure why they changed the name of their vmf50 doll line to Angel Philia. But whatever the reason, their newest Soniko (who is actually the first version, following a barely-clad first release and a Tiger Parka edition) is finally ready for order! This version is based on her babydoll look, which was actually the first figure that Arcadia/Yamato put out of her!
Like all bigger dolls, she won’t be easy to get: and at 19.5″, she certainly is large! She retails for a hefty ¥64,762, which is more than many Dollfie Dreams even. Given that she’s a bit smaller, comes with less clothing and isn’t well made that seems… well, not a smart move, but oh well. She’s an exclusive to Azone’s shop so contact your favorite proxy if you’d like to own this beauty and plan on shelling out quite a bit in proxy fees and of course shipping. She’ll hit shelves in June.

We already know that at Dolpa 29, which takes place on April 28th, we’ll have Dollfie Dream Asuna and Dollfie Dream Sister Alice, but what about the clothing? Well, since this is one of the bigger events there’s a whole lot. We’ve got stuff for every doll size (that Volks makes, of course), from Yo-SD to their large 1/3rd scale boys.
I’m sure most of you are interested in the DD stuff, and Volks seems to be going for a sports theme this time around. We’ve got cheerleader outfits and baseball getups that are really cute, but not my cup of tea. I like my girls to dress more naturally, so it’s the SD outfits that appeal to me this time around–especially that one in the header! You can check out all the pricing on Volks’ page for the event.

Dolpa 29 is under a month away at this point, which means it’s time to take a closer look at the ladies at the event! We’ve already seen Asuna, who at the moment is obviously the highlight of the event, but my eye has been on Alice Kunoi since her announcement. I’ve been waiting patiently for her official shots, and finally they are here!
Alice is just lovely, with a shy and almost aloof looking face. That type tends to appeal to me, and in fact she looks quite like some of my other dolls like Lucy and Sakuno. She also takes advantage of the new semi-white skin body, which is less pale than the previous one. The Dolpa is on the 28th, so get your wallets ready!

When Volks released Dollfie Dream Sisters Miki and Haruka, I thought that might be all we saw from the IDOLM@STER line. I mean there are so many girls, it’s not like they can make all of them! But as we’re finding out from Volks News 49, there will be at least two more–Yukiho Hagiwara and Chihaya Kisaragi! I’m a bit surprised, I thought for sure Azusa would be up next given her popularity and I was really hoping for Hibiki as well.
Thankfully neither of these girls sparks my interest (yet) because if they are anything like the first two they will be Japan-only. But who knows, maybe they’ve changed their minds and these girls will come to the US…. as pre-orders! Hey, I can dream. We also have scans of a super cute Alice in Wonderland themed look for Miki and Haruka.

Just when I was lamenting how we only know about one of the Dolpa 29 Dollifes (Asuna) we get a leak of the second gal! It’s going to be Alice Kunoji from Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, following up the wildly popular Aoko Aozaki. I actually had to pass on Aoko to get my Melty twins and have really been regretting it–she’s so pretty! But Alice, thankfully looks quite like her–or rather, if Aoko and Mio had a love child.
Since she doesn’t have a fancy sword or anything she’ll retail for a low ¥56,000. She’ll be released at Dopla 29 which takes place on April 28th. Get your wallets ready and your lucky charms in a row, because I feel like both of these ladies are going to be really popular!
[UPDATE] Added full-color scans, she is stunning! Alice will be an S bust on the new semi-white skinned body, and also has a super cute alternate casual outfit!

So we’ve known about the existence of Dollfie Dream Asuna for quite some time now, and recently we got to see her scans including pricing info and the event she’ll be at: Dolpa 29! Now we’re seeing her official shots from Volks, and while I think my Dollfie collection is a bit too stuffed to fit miss Asuna she certainly is looking pretty.
Many people have noted a similarity in her face to the DDH-06 along with Haruka Niimi, which I see as well. Though really, it’s hard at this point to come up with a totally new DD head that doesn’t look like any of the past releases. What I am wondering is what other girls will be at DP29–usually we see them all in scans, and since this is a big event I’d expect 3 girls, yet all we’ve seen so far is Asuna… perhaps we’ll find out down the line, or maybe she is the only girl and they will just make a massive amount of her?

Arcadia (formerly Yamato)’s vmf50 line is not really my thing. I love dolls but I am committed to Dollfie Dreams and smaller anthro BJDs: there is no room in my budget (or dollie wardrobe!) for girls of different sizes, after I learned with my brief foray into Azone’s 1/3 scale girls.
But every once in a while there is bound to be a girl that makes me regret that decision, and Maya is one of those ladies! Sure, her clothing is tacky as hell (like pretty much every other doll in the line) but that face! She’s so pretty! Sadly vmf50′s require proxies most of the time, they’re pricey, and they have a different wig and clothing size than my current girls. But… but… so pretty!

We already know that the Dollfie Dreams at Hometown Dolpa Osaka 7 will be Lucy and Nanami, and we’ve seen the outfits, but that is not all Volks has planned for the event! If you happen to have thousands and thousands of extra dollars you can bid on this one-off custom Dollfie Dream.
It’s Manaka Komaki from ToHeart2 on a Dollfie Dream Sister body with custom faceup and a custom outfit, but I think this pushes the “cute” boundary a little too much. It’s like sugary-sweet and I tend to like my girls looking a bit more casual. Maybe it’s because they used those creepy pupil-less eyes Volks has been favoring recently? Well if you like her the bidding will start at ¥75,000 but if you really want her bring your wallet because I can see this cutie skyrocketing in price… like every Volks one-off.

We already know that DDS Nanami and DD Lucy Magical Princess Version will be the doll releases at Hometown Dolpa Osaka 7, which takes place on March 10th, but for many people the outfits are the best part! As usual for a dolpa, we’ve got a ton of variety and clothing for pretty much all the doll bodies that Volks makes.
Of course the Dollfie Dream outfits are what interest me most, and there are some lovely ones! Particularly the brown ensemble they put on Saber Extra, which has a nice casual vibe. There’s also a very Dominatrix-y one as well! Of course it’s not all DDs, there are plenty of lovely and elegant SD outfits as well. In particular, there are a ton for boys, so check them all out below!
