    Winter WonFest 2018: Alter

    I always have very strong opinions about Alter’s event displays. Usually their Wonder Festival lineups disappoint me, because they save all the good stuff for MegaHobby. But not in 2018! We have a really killer batch of figures from my favorite manufacturer.

    Many of them are what you’d expect: we have quite a few Fate/Stay Night figures (including the gorgeous header Saber, a reclining Mash Kyrielight, the sculpt for Edmond Dantes, and their absolutely epic Jeanne d’Arc Alter), finally the painted Okoi, an IDOLM@STER announcement (Asuka Ninomiya), and two To LOVEru cuties (Haruna once again and a lingerie Momo).

    But of course there were surprises as well! We are going to dive right in because there’s a lot to cover, starting with painted figures. It’s a combination of things: Stephen and I have cut our orders down to a scale figure every one or two months, so we have to be super picky, and also there’s just so dang many of them! If I started with one, I’d get the Pringles effect and want them all. But let me tell you, this one is tempting me.</p> <p>Stronger’s take on Shielder is just so lovely and unique (and a lot better than <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/aniplex-unveils-their-new-saber-shielder" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">the Aniplex version</a>).     So far I have really managed to avoid all of the Fate/Grand Order hype.     Ah, Amakuni. I love their figures but I hate getting them, because they are always exclusives. Unfortunately for me (and my wallet), they have so many new figures my heart yearns for.
