Apparently Saber is now ten years old, and that can only mean one thing: merchandise spree! At NicoNico Super Kaigi, Good Smile Company unveiled that they would be doing a full-scale Nendoroid of Saber Zero, complete of course with motorcycle. They announced a Petit set with Saber Lily quite a while before this figure, but it seems like we’ll be getting the big one first since she is now painted.
Personally, I’m almost Sabered out. She’s one of my favorite characters but it just seems like we get a whole lot of her. Still, a motorcycle is a pretty bitchin accessory: let’s just hope it doesn’t make her cost an arm and a leg like the scaled figure! With the figma, the motorcycle was sold separately and actually cost more than she did, so I am a bit nervous about pricing. I hope this means we’ll be getting more (non-Saber) Fate/Zero Nendoroids: maybe a little Irisviel?

I actually really don’t like Saber Zero’s black suit and none of her figures have appealed to me yet (even though I love Saber!). This however, is just too adorable. I’m really happy there’s a figure of this version I like!
What do yous think of the “new” armoured Saber for the 10th anniversary? I only recently bought the original version so I’m a little peeved that there’s a shinier newer one coming out. However, since I own the original I don’t see the point of the new one, or why she got a new Nendo number when she’s essentially just a re-release? I’m all for GSC’s obsession with Saber but this seems like a bit of a waste – I’d much prefer a Nendo Rin/Ilya too.
I think GSC has gotten to a point where they’ve moved away from their base demographic, there has definitely been a big change in the company in the past 6 months. Combined with the total in-your-face marketing, I am starting to dislike them. I don’t dislike their figures and think they are a very skilled company, but they certainly do somethings I don’t agree with (high prices, re-using sculpts, marketing blitzes) but I try to keep those feelings separate from the figures themselves. However, the “new” Saber Moveable is just… blah. Especially because I had SO many issues with the first release.
