Yesterday we showed you the first pictures of DC Bishoujo Harley Quinn and now, Kotobukiya has released their promo shots of her, giving us a much closer look at this crazy girlfriend of The Joker’s. Now that we have a better look though, I have to say, I’m a bit disappointed with how she turned out. I don’t know if Poison Ivy got my expectations higher due to her increased quality or what exactly it is, but things just seem off here. Her face isn’t the proper white, the gloss on her outfit makes absolutely no sense as she wears leather and is just incredibly distracting, her facial expression reads “sleepy” to me instead of seductive, and her body pose, which you can see in one of the promo shots has her leaning way far back (something I’m never fond of) also seems to be slouching down a bit as opposed to being in a powerful pose like Harley would be in.
That being said, not all is bad at all; the sculpting on the hammer looks great, I love her legs and boots, which lead up to a signature Shunya booty, and her arms, torso, and tassels all look quite great as well. With a few tweaks we should have yet another amazing DC Bishoujo figure on our hands, and I hope Kotobukiya takes a second look at this because I feel like she’s about 90% of the way there, but some small changes would knock her out of the park. Yeah. I’m with you on the face. It just looks….white rather than white….it just doesn’t feel like someone who powders her face to white. I’m hoping that’s cleaned up but yeah I was waiting for more official and clearer shots to make my decision and my concerns remain. A little glossy and the face doesn’t feel powdery enough.
I agree with Chris on that the gloss and color of her face are not doing her any favors.
