Kotobukiya’s Breathtaking Astraea Eustia

Sometimes you look at a figure and just gasp with amazement. It’s too beautiful, how can it be a figure? I’ve felt that way only about a few figures during my time collecting, and one of them was Alter’s Dizzy. Wings tend to make a figure more impressive! I definitely got that same “ohmygodwtftoopretty” feeling when I saw the colored images of Kotobukiya’s 1/8 Astraea Esutia from the eroge Aiyoku no Eustia.

Kotobukiya is a solid company, and they have made some of my favorite figures (their two 1/6 Asukas and the 1/8 Elwing), but they’re not really known for show-stopping, breathtaking centerpieces. I think that’s about to change with Astraea, she’s just… amazing. The sculpting is beautiful, the pose is phenomenal, and the color palette is so soft and lovely.

As you’d expect, she’s expensive. Very expensive. ¥12,800 expensive, and she’s an exclusive to boot! And with those wings, I can only expect killer shipping fees no matter how she is packaged. But man, if an exclusive figure was ever worth shelling out for, it would be this one. She’s also massive–14 inches tall with the staff and a staggering 20 inches wide. Yeah, this baby needs a whole shelf to herself! Or maybe, you know, a shrine. Because she’s that pretty.

Orders are open until until January 9th, and if you’re lucky enough to live in Japan you can order her at Koto’s online shop. If you don’t, I’m sure proxies will be opening up orders for her very soon. In fact, even Otacute usually gets the Kotobukiya exclusives so I don’t think she will be overly hard to obtain. If you manage to have the income and resources to snap up this beauty, she’ll be arriving between March and May. A rather odd release date, but I suppose that it will either be in two waves or they are making space for delays.
