I’m going to be very blunt here–I really dislike Danny Choo’s insipid mascot Mirai. I have nothing against Danny Choo himself, but Mirai… yeah, I kind of hate the entire concept. She has no substance and it’s a painfully boring design, and worst of all she’s popular for absolutely no reason. Danny Choo picked her, and that’s literally it. After her popularity started spiking he came up with a stupidly complicated backstory involving time-travel and boobs. Now, she’s got an anime, a game, apparently a card game, a figma, and…. three Nendoroids.
That’s right, Danny Choo’s entire cast is getting the Nendoroid treatment! Just what everyone wants, right? Boring mascots instead of, say, the Disgaea Nendoroids to actually go into production? Kanata, Haruka and Mirai are ALL getting Nendoroids, so you can look forward to even more boring schoolgirl Nendoroids.
So, now that my bitter rant is out of the way let’s look on the bright side. It seems like they come with some cute expressions, unless these aren’t going to be included on the final one, and we can at least hope for some spiffy accessories. And hey, it must be pretty cool to get your designs made as figures.

First Soniko’s game and now this. I don’t think there’s a single character I full on hate more than Mirai; it’s like she’s TRYING to be a part of everything I like when no one asked her to be in the first place.
Wow…I honestly thought I was the only one who felt this way, too many Danny Choo crazy people who will support everything he shoots out. Mirai is ….like a wannabe anime character which just comes out of no where and wants a lot of love….ugh….I say spend the time on something better and trash Mirai overall gosh.
Unfortunately – I feel the same way. Danny Choo is a great guy, loved his panel at AnimeEXPO this year (…even though it was a little too “preachy” and underlying-ly “you guys need to stop being otaku’s acutely” for my taste. orz.) and seems to be a nice guy. But, yeah – Mirai. I literally knew nothing about her until I saw a her figma was coming out so I was like – “oh, okay, whatever. She’s a fan-character of Danny? Cool”. I even respected her&Danny since I thought it was amazing a fan-character/original character got so much attention after that. And, then all of the sudden she’s getting all of this stuff now? WTH? So, she just feels cookie-cutter and I don’t care anymore. Her design is….boring. Besides, there’s SO MUCH MORE CHARACTERS+ANIME that deserve merchandise/figures. But, nope, Max Factory+GSC are doing Danny’s characters and a real life guy who apparently is a famous race-car driver in Japan? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!!!! >:C *rage*
But, eh, whatever. I’m not getting these – don’t care about the characters really. I’m not wasting my money. lol.
It’s something I never understood either. The way he just forces Mirai in our faces is annoying and the way GSC is also buying his ideas too. I got fed up with him, really. So many good characters out there to make Nendoroids of and they’re gonna waste PVC with something so bland and boring as this just to please some preachy type of guy most of us don’t really like.
I don’t really buy into the hate or fandom of Mirai as I’m really indifferent to it. One thing I don’t understand is that everyone is hating this fanwork getting so much attention when the same people never batted an eye at the fact that Black Rock Shooter, a fanwork, evolved in the same way. A fanwork that got so much attention that it led to her own anime, game, numerous scale figures, nendoroid, and even more figma.
Also, to Cindy: Kamui Kobayashi IS a famous racing driver around the world. Hes part of the Sauber F1 Team and is currently in a good position to become the first Japanese-born winner of Formula One race. His nendoroid proved to be extremely popular as it sold out right away.

Yeah, we’ve known about the Nendos for quite some time! I’m surprised it’s taken this long for an “official” announcement.
Also, I understand why Mirai is so popular but I think the real issue people have with her popularity (as opposed to say, BRS Soniko, or Miku) is that her design is soooo generic. BRS got popular because it was a pretty unique design, so I think it’s hard to compare them.
