Aoshima’s return has been marred by their rather awkward stripper shrine maiden catgirl, but it seems like their new offering is a vast improvement. We first saw Strawberry Scepter Ninja, also known as Ichigo, back in May, where her most notable feature was her strong resemblance to Azusa Nanako. Well, she still looks like Azusa, but I don’t exactly count that as a bad thing. I love the color palette, especially the little strawberry on her skirt!
There’s also a Milestone limited edition with a different color palette and some sculpting changes: her hair is up instead of in twintails and she has a whip instead of a sword. I like her weapon and hair color better, but the original wins in all other regards for me. They’re also both cast-off, and have a fishnet top underneath. The seamlines do look a bit clunky from some angles, but at least from the front they’re not overly visible. Each retails for ¥7,800 and they both come out in October.

is it me or does the fishnet thing (cast-off) look really, really weird? Don’t like it at all actually…
Yeah, I think the seams on her arms make it look funky. I don’t generally display my figures cast-off though (unless, of course, it’s Native/Orchid and there’s no other option!), so it doesn’t bother me much–though the big seam on her shirt does a bit. Aoshima’s quality is a bit of a mystery, but I might go for Ichigo to test them out.
the angles on the castoff shots make her look like she has a leaf blower blowing at her mouth. I don’t know why but it looks reallllly odd from the not directly straight on angles in the face..
