In an unusual turn of events, Orchid Seed’s work on the Seven Sins line seems to be going quite quickly! This collaboration with Hobby Japan is similar to Alter’s Hyakka Ryouran line, which means that a good chunk of them will be exclusive but some should be regular releases. The first up is Asmodeus, who was sculpted about a month ago. Well she’s almost done, as orders will start on the 25th of May! We still don’t know if this is a regular release, but either way I know for sure I will be getting her. They also announced the second in the line, Lucifer! Hopefully this doesn’t take as long as the Hyakka line, which still has two characters to go and it started in 2009.

I guess I have to hold off on the touhou figures from GSC.
These are too good to pass up. This year is insane.
This Asmodeus looks to be damn nice – and having all of the seven sins would be most cool for the collection. This year does seem to be one of the worst in recent memory wallet-wise. Jeez, and we are not even half way through the year yet.
I may need a third job.
Seconded. This figure has inspired me to dip my toe in the import website waters for the first time…I’ve been able to avoid it until now, but a few bad eBay deals (bootlegs) caused me to question how I purchase import girls.
Any tips for an import newb?
It will really depend on how she is released. If it’s a standard release, AmiAmi (http://www.amiami.com/) and Hobby Search (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/) are really the big dogs of the import industry: but another good option is Big In Japan (http://biginjap.com/). Their prices are competitive and if you live in an area with import taxes I hear they undervalue. However, none of these places really let you cancel without a lot of hassle, so if you think you might HLJ (http://www.hlj.com/) lets you cancel whenever thought their prices are a big higher.
However, if she’s an exclusive it will be a different story (though ordering is pretty much the same): expect to pay upwards of 10k + shipping. The main proxies are BIJ, Tokyohunter (http://tokyo-hunter.com/), Mioboutique (http://www.mbttoys.com/), and Yokatta ( http://yokattaweb.jp/), though you have to pay up-front at all of them. There are US stores that cost a teeny bit more, take an extra month or two to get the stuff, but don’t make you pay upfront! They are: Hobbyfan (http://hobbyfan.com/), Toylet (http://www.toylet.net/) and Toyslogic (http://toyslogic.com/).
Hope this helps!
Hobbyfan and toyslogic are a bit more expensive on exclusive than toylet but hobbyfan have price matching which is good. Doesn’t hobbyfan require a deposit on some exclusives?
Damn you Leah and this site (actually that was my wallet typing, I personally like the blog and all the info I have been getting)!! I kinda have to put other potential purchases on hold now over this line.
If these ARE exclusives, would an American site like Hobbyfan DEFINITELY have access to them?? I don’t want to miss out, and I have never tried getting and exclusive before.
I went to the seven sins website to look around a bit…..I was really hoping that the numbers 5 and 25 DIDN’T mean may 25th. And is it just me or the devil girl they have for greed (Mammon) should be gluttony??
Hobbyfan gets all of the Hobby Japan exclusives so I think you’d be pretty safe: they also claim to need a deposit but I’ve ordered quite a few and they never actually ask for the money until the figure is released.
If you want the cheapest option, Mioboutique is great, but you do have to pay upfront–however, there are a lot of benefits to this, like the fact that once release rolls around it’s almost like getting a present in the mail. XD
