Queen’s Blade is a strange and confusing property. It’s based on a tabletop RPG that is played with books, and they got some absolutely awesome character designers to work on it. Then they turned it into an anime, which… well, let’s just say I am not a fan of. However, despite my loathing for the tacky, volence-driven show, I still have a soft spot in my heart for many of the designs. Which is why MegaHouse’s new figure of Izumi confuses me: I tend to have very strong opinions about the QB girls, either I love them (Ymir, Siggy) or hate them (Menace Cattleya). But Izumi, well… I’m not sure.
She’s definitely cute, with a face that reminds me strongly of Mio from K-On!. But I don’t find her design wow-worthy one way or the other. On the plus side the castoff seems very well done, and you can hardly tell that her top comes off. I do wish she had a slightly smaller chest, as it would have matched her face better, but you can judge for yourself from the cast-off shots in the gallery. She will retail for ¥7,200 with a July release, and should go up for order this week.
