NYCC 2015: figma Motoko Kusanagi Gallery

Recently we got a regular figma of Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex released that we showed you waaaay back at Toy Fair over a year ago, and then later that summer at WonFest we got word that a second, Arise version was in the works. Fast forward to this June and the sculpt was finally shown off and now in October she’s painted, has gone up for order, and made a trip all the way to New York to bust some cyber terrorists abroad.

As a huge fan of Ghost in the Shell in all of its forms, I’ve gotta say, I’m a bit of a bad fan: I’ve yet to watch Arise. I know, I know, it’s on my shortlist, but all of the negative hype surrounding it put me off for a while. That said, one thing I’ve always loved about Arise is Motoko Kusanagi’s younger design: it’s different and equally as badass as the original, but in a different, more modern way (which is funny because it’s supposed to take place in time before the Stand Alone Complex design, but oh well; fashion repeats itself over time so I’ll let it slide). Max Factory really managed to pull off her sleek style and bold, strong look in this figma and I love it. She’ll be able to be posed in all of the crazy action poses from the series and I personally can’t wait for her to come out!
