One of the first vinyl figures I ever bought was Super7‘s Blood Red Rose Vampire. It was the second release of the series, and though I had the opportunity to buy the original Green Hell I passed it up. Well, that turned out to be a massive mistake–the piece is incredibly rare now, and fetches up to $300 on the after-market. It quickly became Stephen’s Holy Grail, and we spend a long, long time looking for one. When we finally got our hands on one, he was still a bit over retail but far below market value.
So how would we celebrate such a rare acquisition? Why, we’d take him to the most beautiful place I know for a photoshoot! We save only the cream of the crop to haul up to my aunt’s massive garden in upstate NY, and I don’t think that there is a figure more deserving than the OG Rose Vampire.
We did this shoot a year ago, but I still think it’s one of Stephen’s best. You can really tell how much he loves this figure, and I’m pretty sure it still remains his most favorite piece in our whole collection! So check out the gallery to see what a Rose Vampire gets up to in a garden!

Love my rose vampire. Hate that I don’t get to have a super collection like you guys….I come into everything far too late.
..I have to ask: where in upstate? Like real upstate or Pougkeepsie upstate (which you crazy city people keep saying is upstate, it’s not ;D)
Either way, I’m so upset they decided to discontinue this sculpt, he’s really beautifully done. I must say though, I think I prefer the SDCC ’11 exclusive they did based on this, because, yeah, clear plastic <3
Yeah. Clear is the best on anything. I
Poughkeepsie is just north of where Leah and I live, her aunt’s mountains are up near Andes, so about 3 hours north of us and 4 hours from the city. It’s a gorgeous area and shooting figures up there is just magical; the combination of being so relaxed and the gorgeous grounds always give such great results.
