One of the best things about Dollfie Dreams is their customizeability. Of course if you want to keep, say, Saber Lily as Saber Lily you don’t have to mess with anything. But almost every aspect of a DD can be changed: clothing, wigs, eyes, body types, even faceup can be removed and redone. And if Volks doesn’t have the perfect headsculpt for your project, there are other options, like SQlab heads. Many owners have customs of some sort, and they are often the DDs that rise to popularity in the community because of their uniqueness. Of course owning someone else’s custom isn’t even an idea that most collectors consider, but every once in a while that rare opportunity pops up.
Recently, Stephen and I had the opportunity to buy not one but two of our favorite customs! The first is Kureha, based on (of course) Kureha from Shining Wind. She was one of the first DDs I had a “crush” on when we started collecting. She’s on a DDS M-bust at the moment, borrowing a body from our adorable Marisa. The second doll is Ryoko, an original character that Stephen has been a huge fan of for a long time now. When the two went up for sale about a week apart, we of course jumped on the opportunity to own these coveted beauties. Now they are a part of our growing DD family, and we couldn’t be happier to have such lovely girls in our home!
