PVC Pre-Order Round-Up: 8/15~8/18

This was a slow week for figures. Most companies were on holiday for Sunday, so we didn’t get any news, and then nothing really notable went up on Monday. I thought Tuesday would be promising, but we got zilch! Turned out that Thursday and Friday were pretty good, but still, not a whole lot went up this week. But there were some surprising releases that I am really looking forward to, and quite a few re-releases, so hit the jump to check them out!

Amie-Grand

Rei of the Cross | ¥15,200 | December

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: While this is a lovely Rei, I really don’t think she’s worth the hefty price they are asking. Sometimes I hate polystone!

Stephen: It’s a nice figure of Rei, but the price coupled with the fact that there are many other better Rei figures out there makes this a pass.

Evolution Toy

Yukihime Full Puni | ¥8,800 | October

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: Adorable, but not $100 adorable. Holding out for a figma!

Stephen: Her hat has a face on it, which is usually something I’d be all over, but she’s quite joint-tastic and overpriced.

Good Smile Company

Nendoroid Yozora | ¥3,500 | January

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: As I said in the post on Yozora, I really love her grumpy faces. She’ll be a fun one to photograph!

Stephen: Pissy Nendoroid with a PSP? Nuff said.

Kotobukiya

X-23 | ¥6,200 | February

AmiAmi | Hobby Search | HLJ

Karin Sasamori | ¥7,800 | December

AmiAmi | Hobby Search | HLJ

Makise Kurisu | ¥7,800 | January

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: I love all the Dragon Chronicle figures, so Karin is a must-get! And while I already have Makise, it’s good to see her get a re-release, definitely one of Koto’s best figures.

Stephen: I’m glad that we finally got to see X-23 painted as she looks quite great in her final form and Karin is just so adorable and detailed. Makise is also a must own for anyone who doesn’t have her; she’s stunning in person and one of the best representations of Huke’s art in three dimensions.

Max Factory

Figma Hitagi & Araragi Re-Release | ¥2,800 | October

Hitagi: AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Araragi: AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: Honestly, I think it’s a bit mental to put up re-releases for October. That month is totally packed, so these will just end up on sale, pissing off people who paid the original price.

Stephen: For those who missed out, this is a great second chance, but I have a feeling this will be like Kaito’s Nendoroid and a limited number re-release. Hitagi is fun for her accessories, but Araragi is quite boring in figure form.

Phat! Company

Angel Panty & Stocking | ¥2,200 | December

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: I’m glad to see that Phat! is continuing the line of Panty & Stocking minifigures. There’s a set of police officer versions in the works as well, but I’d like to see them tackle even more of their crazy outfits!

Stephen: I love Phat! Company’s work on these figures; they’ve captured the unique art style perfectly and who doesn’t love Panty and Stocking?

Plus X/ Taki Corporation

Lily Kamen Re-Release | ¥8,800 | September

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: LOLWUT

Stephen: Can Taki Corp please stop coming back from the dead? They’re like the zombie crappy figure maker of the PVC world.

Wave

Minase Iori | ¥7,800 | February

AmiAmi | Hobby Search | HLJ

Honma Meiko | ¥3,800 | February

AmiAmi | Hobby Search | HLJ

Tooru | ¥3,800 | February

AmiAmi | Hobby Search | HLJ

Leah: I’m trying to hold off on Beach Queens, so none of those entered the pre-order list, but Iori proved irresistible! I really love all the new Idolm@ster designs, and I feel like I’m going to be buying up quite a few of them from Wave and MegaHouse!

Stephen: All three of these gals are ultra cute and have great price points, so for anyone looking for a bit of cute to add to their collection, these are the perfect addition.

Well, that’s all for this week, let us know what you’re looking forward to in the comments!
