PVC Pre-Order Roundup: 11/20~11/24

This week was a pretty ridiculous one for figure news: we had magazine scans, MegaHobby Expo Autum 2011, and Tamashii Nation 2011 all in a row! Because of this, it seems like most companies were busy prepping prototypes and taking pictures, and the pre-orders kind of got forgotten! We had a decent amount of stuff go up to be sure, but not nearly as much as usual. There were some awesome figures though, like the long-awaited Alter Selvaria, another Miku Nendo, one of the Naruto boys, and tons of OreImo merch, so hit the jump to check it all out!

A+

Tomo Yamanobe | 1/4 | ¥14,800 | December | NSFW

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: Another figure that baffles me. The body is only so-so, the face is downright scary, it’s huge and expensive, and comes out in a month! Who can afford to order this stuff? Who WANTS to order this stuff?

Stephen: I’m so confused by the physics behind that apron.

Aizu Project

Asuka & Mari | 1/6 | ¥16,800 | April | Re-releases

Asuka: AmiAmi

Mari: AmiAmi

Leah: Asuka, why do you taunt me? I love this figure so much, but it’s just too expensive, and this is the second re-release! Mari, though, I don’t care too much about. It’s just okay, and there are really better versions of her.

Stephen: I’ve wanted to add that Asuka to my collection for a while, but that price is just insane considering that it’s almost as much as the World is Mine Miku DX set, which is like 10x the size.

Alter

Selvaria Bles | 1/7 | ¥8,800 | April

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: As I’ve mentioned before, Selvaria is done by my favorite sculptor, so she’s a must-own even if I don’t find her top entirely tasteful. I think the detail on her outfit and the lovely base more than make up for that!

Stephen: Selvaria is really unique for a swimsuit figure and I love the inclusion of her weapon as well. Her very inquisitive face just adds to her allure and the sculpting is top notch.

Bandai

Kakashi | Figuarts Zero | ¥2,800 | March

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: It’s always nice to see cheap figures that are well-made, and this is an excellent rendition of Kakashi.

Stephen: Kakashi is such a great character, but I feel like the Megahouse figure captured his character much better.

Embrace Japan

Fiolina Germi | 1/8 | ¥8,800 | March

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: This is a cute figure, but I think the price is just too high. Embrace Japan’s Diabolus is 1k less and 1/7 scale (and also much more striking) so I don’t understand why Fiolina is so expensive.

Stephen: She’s cute, but she’s kind of like the Army-san and Jiei-tan Nendoroids (other military figures as well) in that she’s more expensive than a standard figure, but should in fact be less expensive.

 FREEing

Kirino Kousaka | 1/8 | ¥7,800 | March

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: I really love this Kirino! The maid outfit reminds me of one of the funniest scenes in the anime, plus I think the face is a lot more spot-on than FREEing’s first Kiririn. It seems like there are a ton of OreImo figures on the market, but I can never get enough!

Stephen: More great sculpted Kirinos? Yes please!

Good Smile Company

Mikumix | Nendoroid | ¥3,500 | April

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: Ah, Mikumix. I swore I wasn’t going to buy her, but I changed my tune as soon as I saw all of the extra faces. They’re just too amazing!

Stephen: Mikumix really has a ton of new sculpting (I’m pretty sure almost nothing outside of the limbs is the same between this and the original Miku Nendoroid) and all of the accessories, faces, and new sitting pose make for this to be a must buy.

Griffon

Shou Toramaru | 1/8 | ¥7,400 | February | Exclusive

AmiAmi

Leah: Shou reminds me of the earlier Touhou figures Griffon put out. The paint seems bland, her pose is confusing, and the color palette is just off. A pass for me!

Stephen: Shou just doesn’t have anything that stands out to me, which is great because I’d like to take a break from ordering so many of Griffon’s Touhou line as they’re just so damn pricey.

Kotobukiya

Menma | 1/8 | ¥5,800 | April

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: This is such a cute Menma, and while I already prefer Alter’s version of her it’s going to be hard to pass this cutie up.

Stephen: I really like the expression and movement of this Menma and Kotobukiya did a very competent job yet again with a popular character.

Wave

Kirino & Kuroneko | 1/8 | ¥6,500 | May

Kirino: AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Kuroneko: AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: More OreImo this week! This is an adorable set, and while the price is a little high there’s no way I am not getting them. They look so cute sitting together, what OreImo fan could resist?

Stephen: I love this set as they just go so well together and are in sitting poses, which is surprisingly rare for figures. Their faces are also just so cute and adorable and expressive that I can’t wait to add them to my collection.

Well, that’s it for this week! There were quite a few OreImo figures, a few missteps, and a very solid figure from Alter as well. What did you order this week and what are you hoping goes up for order soon from all of the recent events? Let us know in the comments below!
