PVC Pre-Order Roundup: 12/11~12/22

Welcome to a special, double-whammy edition of our PVC Pre-Order Roundup! Last week I was away in the mountains where internet is a mythical thing that people talk about in hushed voices, so we were unable to complete it in time. Instead of doing one mid-week and having a second 2 days later, we decided it would be best to combine them and get more PVC bang for your… viewing page!

Of course, since we have 2 weeks worth of figures, there are a lot of amazing offerings! We’ve got some truly spectacular figures in here, from card-wielding hotties to stripper angels. There’s tons of Nendoroids and figmas, our weekly does of Beach Queens, some awesome game-based toys, a few NSFW Ikkitousen figures, and more. So hit the jump and let’s get started!

Panty Anarchy | 1/8 | ¥7,800 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Popura | 1/8 | ¥6,800 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: You know, Good Smile has a Panty figure planned, but they should probably ditch those plans because never will there be a Panty as magnificently perfect as this one. Oh, and I guess Popura is pretty cute too!

Stephen: Alter really shows up to the plate again with two really strong releases in Panty and Popura as both are must gets.

Daiki Kougyou

Samurai Sasara Red Ver. | 1/6 | ¥13,800 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: I think Daiki’s approach to recolors is insane. We already have two versions of Sasara up for order, and neither of them have been released, so there’s no way to judge the quality. Sasara is also really expensive, so who is going to order THREE without seeing any of them finished?

Stephen: I feel like Daiki purposely releases their figures in order of least to most interesting colorways. We now have three colorways of Sasara here with the first colorway that went up for order being the least interesting and this most recent being the most interesting, which means that many will now have all three on order as opposed to just one. Sneaky, sneaky, Daiki…

Kuroneko | 1/8 | ¥7,800 | April

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: Kuroneko here is mighty cute, though FREEing’s quality on smaller-scale figures is a little suspect. However, I just can’t resist Kuro and Kiririn, so of course we ordered the set!

Stephen: Kuroneko looks pretty great here and so far I see nothing wrong! Hopefully the final piece looks just as great.

Good Smile Company

Saber Zero | 1/8 | ¥13,800 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Sana Inui | Nendoroid | ¥3,500 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Kyoko Sakura | Nendoroid | ¥3,500 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Vanguard Set | Nendoroid Plus | ¥2,700 a case | April

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: I’ve voiced my displeasure with Saber Zero many times before, and I still feel that she is ridiculously expensive and not worth her price at all. Sana and Kyoko, however, I really love!

Stephen: Kyoko and Sana are two really cute Nendoroids, but Saber Zero is worth maybe half of her price TOPS and as such I’ll be holding off on ordering her.

Nazrin | 1/8 | ¥7,000 | March | Exclusive

Ryomou Shimei | 1/7 | ¥7,200 | March | NSFW

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Ryofu Housen | 1/7 | ¥7,400 | February | NSFW

Hobby Search

Leah: Griffon had a lot of stuff this time, from their standard NSFW Ikkitousen girls to a very cute mouse! For some reason I am very fond of Ryofu so I am tempted to order this version of her, but the February release date is just brutal.

Stephen: Nazarin is just so cute and for once there are some more nice Ikkitousen options for people out there so all around Griffon had a pretty solid set of releases!

Ellis | 1/7 | ¥9,800 | April

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: I really love Ellis, but this is an abomination. The sculpt is terrible, she’s far too busty, and the price–wtf?!

Stephen: Ellis is a great character, but this figure fails in every single way possible.

Alisa Bosconovitch | 1/7 | ¥6800 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Yami Yugi | 1/7 | ¥6,800 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: I’m really impressed with Koto’s releases this week. Yugi is just amazing, and such a nice thing for fans, and Alisa might be the prettiest Bishoujo yet!

Stephen: Alisa and Yugi just continue to show how much Kotobukiya is improving recently. Alisa is quite possible the best Bishoujo yet and Yugi is just stunning!

Max Factory

Popura | Nendoroid | ¥3,500 | April

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Millhiore F. Biscotti | figma | ¥3,200 | April

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Phantasmoon Eclipse | figma | ¥3,200 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: It was a big week for both Popura and Millhi–Popura got a Nendo and a scaled figure from Alter, and Millhi got a figma and the lottery for her DDS form happened! I really like both of them, though I am more on the fence about Phantasmoon. The accessories are not at all what I wanted and her outfit looks… bland.

Stephen: The Popura Nendoroid is just oh so adorable as is is the Millhi figma and the Phantasmoon figma is quite interesting as well. All around a pretty good week from Max Factory!

Orchid Seed

Mecha Nurse Nana | 1/8 | ¥9,800 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: The original Mecha Nurse Nana is one of my favorite figures, and I think this colorway (called “Mint Betty”) looks just as amazing! This is a great opportunity, and I highly recommend her.

Stephen: Orchid Seed really pulled out all the stops with this new colorway of Nana and if she’s anything like the original, which is amazing, then this is most certainly a figure to look out for in 2012!

Phat! Company

Nendoroid Playset Wagnaria Cafe A and B | playset | ¥2,200 each | April

A (restaurant): AmiAmi | Hobby Search

B (kitchen): AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Teddie & TV | non-scale | ¥2,200 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: I love the Nendo playsets. They’re fun and add a new life to your figures, plus tons of things can fit in them! The Wagnaria Cafe is pretty awesome, and comes with so many accessories. The price is ridiculously cheap, and if you love Nendos, figmas, or action figures, this is a must-buy! Teddie, of course, is just as awesome.

Stephen: Nendoroid playsets are a must and the Wangaria Cafe ones are quite awesome and who doesn’t love Teddie? I just can’t wait to see what else is done in the Persona line!

Ques Q

Yukari Yakumo | 1/8 | ¥11,800 | May | Exclusive

Leah: The price on this makes me quite sad. I was really looking forward to Yukari, but wtf 11k?! I mean, sure, she comes with extra hair and her skirt can be cast-off, but lots of Alter figures and Koto ones as well do that for no extra price.

Stephen: Yukari here looks great, but most certainly not 11,000 yen great… It’s a shame too because I was looking forward to her, but her retail price is just so ridiculously high (like Saber Zero’s) that I just have to pass on her.

Yozora Mikazuchi | 1/10 | ¥3,800 | June

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Konoe Subaru | 1/10 | ¥3,800 | June

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Asuka Sugou | 1/10 | ¥3,800 | May

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: I’m a bit disappointed by the Beach Queens this time. Yozora looks really off to me, and Konoe is just so… plain. AlphaMax has a really cute (and 1/7 scale) swimsuit figure of her, and I can’t see anyone choosing the Beach Queen over it. Asuka, though, I find pretty cute–just not cute enough to buy.

Stephen: Personally, absolutely none of these stand out to me in the slightest. Again, if you’re a fan of the character you might go for these, but otherwise, I highly doubt it.

Mari Illustrious Makinami | non-scale (1/6~1/5) | ¥8800 | July

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Ignis | 1/8 | ¥8,800 | June

AmiAmi | Hobby Search

Leah: I love this Mari–it’s simple but captures her personality, and the price is fantastic for a figure that is almost 1/5 scale. Ignis is a pass though–I like poseable figures, but I like tiny ones that I can mess around with, not $100 ones that I would worry about breaking.

Stephen: Mari looks great and it’s been a while since she was first announced as well, but I really have no clue what market Ignis is attempting to fill with her price point and poseability.

Well, it’s been a jam packed two weeks with figures big and small! What did you treat yourself with and what gets a big ol’ lump of coal from you? Let us know in the comments below!
