This week was a rather slow one in terms of big-name figures: with no offerings from Max Factory or Kotobukiya, it seemed like releases trickled out. In reality there were quite a few figures, but most of them are from smaller companies that don’t get a lot of attention. We also had a whole lot of NSFW going on this week, and some very large-scale and expensive NSFW girls at that! Of course there were some really gorgeous figures in the mix, as well as a highly-anticipated re-release, so hit the jump to check them out!
A+
Echidna | 1/4.5 | ¥17,800 | January | NSFW
Chifusa Manyuu | 1/4.5 | ¥14,800 | January | NSFW
Leah: Ugh. We get two terrible releases from A+ this week. Echidna is just… weird looking, the proportions are totally funky. Chifusa, however, revolts me. What the hell is up with her breasts? They’re twice the size of her head and they look like detached dumplings that she is carrying around. I’m pretty sure the sculptor(s) for A+ has never actually seen a naked woman in real life.
Stephen: Echidna is very “ehhh…” and Chifusa reminds me of the “I can’t hold all of these limes!” guy the way her breasts seem completely detached from her body.
AlphaMax
Soniko | 1/6 | ¥8,200 | May | NSFW
Leah: A surprise Soniko release! Now that AlphaMax has the license I’m sure we will be seeing a LOT of Soniko, and hopefully in some outfits other companies have neglected. Surprisingly, they went for her game-face instead of basing this on an illustration, so it’s quite different from many of the Sonikos out there.
Stephen: I’m always game for more Sonikos and AlphaMax’s offering is quite nice!
Alter
Nanoha Takamachi | 1/7 | ¥8,800 | May
Louise Goth Punk Ver. | 1/8 | ¥6,800 | May
Leah: Alter hands-down wins this week for me with two fantastic releases. A realistic-looking girl in a swimsuit and a re-release I’ve been wanting for ages!
Stephen: Nanoha looks great and I’ve wanted a re-release of Louise for years so this was a great week from Alter!
Daiki Kougyou
Menace | 1/4 | ¥28,000 | May | NSFW
Leah: I don’t quite know what to say about this figure. To be honest, the sculpting is great (especially on her body) and her face is quite pretty. But this is definitely too tacky for my taste–it’s certainly not bash-worthy (unlike, say, A+ figures) but it’s just not something I’d be comfortable owning.
Stephen: I’ve never liked Menace so even though this figure is fairly well made, it’s something that would never enter my collection.
Good Smile Company
Nero Yuzurizaki | Nendoroid | ¥3,500 | April
Kamui Kobayashi | 1/8 | ¥9,800 | May
Leah: I can’t look at that damn Kamui figure without getting a sour taste in my mouth. It feels like a pointless corporate sellout that no one ever wanted. Nero with her ridiculous faces makes it a bit better though!
Stephen: Nero is adorable, but considering days later and only one Kamui figure has sold on AmiAmi and I think we can all understand just how pointless and a flop this figure was.
Kaitendoh
Onna Kyoushi Manga Ver. | 1/6 | ¥12,000 | March
Onna Kyoushi Real Ver. | 1/6 | ¥12,000 | March
Leah: I actually really like the manga version of this figure. Her face is beautiful and she’s sexy and sophisticated without being slutty. The price is a definite deterrent though, and if these were PVC and cheaper I think I’d definitely order both.
Stephen: The manga version looks quite sweet, but the other version has an odd uncanny valley and poor hair sculpt so it makes for one great figure and one sub-par figure.
Orchid Seed
Tamaki Jumonji | 1/7 | ¥8,285 | April | NSFW
Leah: I love this colorway a lot more than the first one, but I’m not sure if this is a figure I’d like to own two of. Plus I am not sure if they fixed the issues with paint transfer, which definitely makes me hesitant about purchasing this version.
Stephen: This colorway is just so cute and she’s a pretty great figure and she went up for order just in time for Christmas!
Plum
Erio Touwa | 1/6 | ¥6,800 | April
Leah: I think you’d be hard-pressed to argue that this is not, hands-down, the best Erio to hit the market so far. Plus the price is great for a 1/6 scale figure!
Stephen: As Leah has stated, this is hands down the best Erio so far, the face is spot on, her odd proportions look natural, and overall the sculpting here looks great.
Wave
Himari Takakura | 1/10 | ¥3,800 | June
Princess of Crystal | 1/10 | ¥3,800 | June
Leah: I really like the Princess of Crystal but I dislike Himari, which seems to be the exact opposite reaction of everyone else! Himari is just too simple for me since I don’t know the character, but the Princess has a freaking penguin on her head. Come on, guys, that’s just amazing.
Stephen: Himari is the same old nothing, but the Princess of Crystal girl is just so unique with her hat and little penguin friend!
Well, that’s it for this week, which, while not jam packed with big releases, did have some pretty important figures go up for order. Were you that one person that actually ordered Kamui? Let us know in the comments below!

That ComicXO Orchid Seed figure is quite attractive. The colors look much better than the original, I agree. Although, it’s rather unfortunate that she’s going to be released in April. You would think they’d want to have her released around December, not preorders beginning December.
I agree on the Erio Touwa figure’s price tag; it’s really affordable for a 1/6th scale! I’m thinking about ordering her myself, but I’m not quite sure I’d ever display her (I have roommates that may find it a bit strange to have a half-naked girl on my desk… but I don’t know if thats enough to stop me yet P: )
Louise looks great, too. Hmmmm. May have to pick her up as well!
Great post!
Chifusa’s breasts are supposed to be gigantic, it’s relevant to the plot. They get bigger as the show goes on.
I don’t have an issue with big breasts (although I don’t prefer them on my figures), I have an issue with how ridiculously they are sculpted. They don’t look at all like they are actually attached to her, which is just bad sculpting!
I’m still undecided on swimsuit Nanoha partly because I want to see if there’s a matching Fate & Vivio figure first and partly because I’m saving my money for the upcoming Saber Zero on motorcycle, but she is slowly wearing me down.
As for Kobayashi, I will admit I was tempted to grab his Nendoroid since it would look nice in my F1 car model collection, but meh. I’ll wait for it to go on sale. He’s a good driver, but GSC should have settled on just producing one figure of him. (either Nendoroid or Figma) This statue is just too much.
This coloring of ComicXO is awesome, but I’m not going to buy it again either. Usually ambivalent toward recolors, but this one makes me wish I didn’t get the first one.
