This week’s orders were dominated by two things: poseable figures and Last Exile. We had two figures of Alvis, and considering how long it’s been since we’ve seen anything from the series this is kind of amazing. Then we got quite a few Nendoroids and figmas as well! As far as other scaled figures go the choices are pretty slim, though there is Moe Hitler and some very pretty Ikkitousen figures. So hit the jump to check them out!
Alter
Alvis & Lavie | 1/8 | ¥8,800 | August
Leah: I really can’t believe this set is so cheap! Then again they are on the small side (closer to 1/9) but I’d prefer them tiny–I don’t have room for a huge bench!
Stephen: Such a cute set and I’m glad to see more Last Exile figures being made.
Beat
Choun Shiryu Regular & Black Ver. | 1/7 | ¥8,800 | July
Regular: AmiAmi | Hobby Search
Black: AmiAmi | Hobby Search
Choun Shiryu AmiAmi Ver. | 1/7 | ¥8,800 | July | Exclusive
Leah: Another pretty Ikkitousen fig?! Despite the fact that it kind of seems like her spine is broken I find this figure very pretty. The AmiAmi limited one is my favorite of the three, I really love the closed eyes.
Stephen: Not feeling any of these; it’s just awkward with some glossy paint to me.
CM’s Corp
Yashiro Hoshimiya Regular & DX | 1/8 | ¥8,800/¥12,800 | June
Regular: AmiAmi | Hobby Search
DX: AmiAmi | Hobby Search
Leah: The difference between these two seems to be that the DX comes with an extra swimsuit body–but regardless, these just don’t appeal to me despite the wacky spacesuit. The face is just really weird.
Stephen: Can I get just the spacesuit by itself?
Good Smile Company
Yukiko Amagi | Nendoroid | ¥3,500 | July
Leah: Yukiko is so cute, though for once I think I am waiting for the figma version moreso than the Nendoroid.
Stephen: Yukiko is adorable and I can’t wait for the rest of the Persona 4 Nendoroid line.
Kaitendoh
Alvis | 1/8 | ¥8,500 | June
Retia Adolf | 1/8 | ¥8,500 | June
Leah: I am really disappointed by Alvis, but Retia–so amazing! Her sculpting is amazing, far better than the usual Kaitendoh figure, though this is for a good reason–she’s done by Ken Yokota. He’s worked on figures like GSC’s Rin and Homura, and is very talented.
Stephen: Retia is flat out amazing and Alvis looks pretty nice as well, but I’m still on the fence about her.
Kotobukiya
Aira | 1/8 | ¥6,800 | July
Leah: Rehash or not, I still love this sculpt. Simple, elegant, and clean.
Stephen: Such a nice figure at such a great price.
Max Factory
Leonmitchelli Galette des Rois | figma | ¥3,800 | July
BRS Anime Ver. | figma | ¥3,500 | July
Leah: I really like both of the figmas for this week: BRS looks as cool as ever and Galette is just awesome!
Stephen: Two great figmas for once; Galette is so unique and interesting and this Black Rock Shooter is different enough for fans who already have figures of her to add her into their collection, but also still similar enough to her original design that those who missed out won’t feel like they were getting the short end of the stick.
Well, another week has come and gone and Leah and I are quite tired from a midnight screening of The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games seems to be quite a bit more thrilling than this week’s roundup, so let us know about either in the comments below. Or cats. Or whatever you feel like! It doesn’t matter to us (so long as it’s not spam)!
