Welcome to a week of fabulous flying ladies! We’ve got ladies with mechanical wings, butterfly wings, even feathered wings… on their waist! In fact, we’ve also got not one but two sky-high Nendoroids. Okay, so one rides a carrot and the other has weird feet blade-wings, but there’s still an unusually high number of airborne figures this time around. Of course we’ve got some earthbound ladies as well (and one small guy). Ladies with guns, small ladies with guns, flying ladies with guns… really, it’s a week of flying ladies with guns all around (and some with swords and laces!), many of whom popped up in magazine scans. So hit the jump and check them out!
AlphaMax
Cryska Barchenowa | 1/6 | ¥7,400 | March
Leah: I’m not sure what it is about Cryska, but I find her really gorgeous and lovely.
Stephen: Wound up ordering her because she just has such an atmosphere about her that you don’t find in figures much anymore.
FREEing
Nanoha Force Version | 1/8 | ¥18,800 | March
Leah: God, that price. And the more I look at her, the more bulky I find all those flying guns and wings and stuff. She would be SUCH a space hog, and is probably going to go on sale.
Stephen: Passed on her in hopes of a sale.
Good Smile Company
Gumi | Nendoroid | ¥3,500 | January
Tsubasa Kazanari | Nendoroid | ¥4,000 | January
Leah: Two cute Nendos with brightly colored hair, great accessories, and unique faces? Yes please!
Stephen: Two of the best Nendoroids in a very long time.
Griffon
Kanu Maid Version | 1/7 | ¥8,500 | December | Re-release
Kanu China Dress Damage Version | 1/7| ¥6,500 | December | Re-release | NSFW
Sonsaku Hakufu Gym Version | 1/7 | ¥6,500 | December | Re-release | NSFW
Leah: In case you were wondering this is the third release of Sonsaku, the second of China Dress Kanu (though there are FIVE variants of this sculpt), and the second for Maid Kanu (and that sculpt has 3 variations). Honestly, I am SO sick of these re-releases. They aren’t even doing the good figures, like their Cat Maid Kanu (a variation of the maid they DID re-release) or Nekomimi Kanu. But at this point, really, just sculpt some new Ikkitousen girls for the love of god. Also, does anyone else find it very very odd that the Damage Kanu seemingly has no nipples? Poor thing.
Stephen: So yeah, it’s been how many years since Ikkitousen was relevant? What are you doing Griffon!?
Kotobukiya
Sakuya Mode:Crimson | 1/6 | ¥12,000 | February
Commander Shepard | 1/7 | ¥6,800 | March
AmiAmi | Hobby Search | Big Bad Toy Store
Kuroyukihime | 1/8 | ¥9,000 | February
Leah: An especially good week for Koto! I still think Sakuya is too pricey but I love her crazy face, FemShep looks great, and Kuroyukihime is really gorgeous as well. Love the pig!
Stephen: Three all around great releases from Koto this time around. Kuroyukihime is gorgeous, FemShep looks very detailed for a Bishoujo figure, and Sakuya, while overpriced, is still damn awesome.
Max Factory
Henrietta | figma | ¥4,000 | January
Leah: Aww, she’s so cute with that gun. I hope they do more of the girls, like Triela!
Stephen: Really like how her joints were hidden. Solid figma release.
Orchid Seed
Lucifer | 1/8 | ¥9,800 | June
Leah: My favorite figure of the week, hands-down. So thrilled that not only is she perfect looking, she’s a regular release!
Stephen: Lucifer looks great and I’m really loving this whole line so far.
Phat! Company
Yu & Rise | Twin Pack | ¥2,000 | January
Leah: You know, these aren’t really special in any way, but I cannot for the life of me resist a figure of Rise (aside from Alter’s terribly un-Rise looking swimsuit one).
Stephen: Cheap, cute, and well detailed. What more is there to want?
Wave
Natsumi, Saki, Yuka & Rinko | 1/10 | ¥3,800 each | April (Rinko & Natsumi), May (Saki & Yuka)
Natsumi: AmiAmi | Hobby Search
Saki: AmiAmi | Hobby Search
Yuka: AmiAmi | Hobby Search
Rinko: AmiAmi | Hobby Search
Leah: More Beach Queens I don’t care about! Seriously, this line is starting to bore me. I’m also annoyed that characters that I love and they HAVE THE LICENSE FOR (*cough*ASUKA*cough*) aren’t being made when this parade of boring is. Seriously, give me Asuka and maybe Tamaki and I’ll stop complaining.
Stephen: What Leah said x2.
Well, that’s it for this week! What flew into your collection and what wound up dive-bombing from above for you? Let us know in the comments below!

Koto’s Kuroyukihime was a no-brainer for me. She was one of my top three figures last Wonfes and she looks gorgeous painted. Her coloring, her base, her pose, the little pig…yeah, still as impressed as I was back then.
Cryska looks really nice too, but given how many figures seem to be popping up for this one, I’ll still hold out for a pilot suit version. I can always try and pick this one up later.
It was a good week for figures this week! I snagged Nendo Gumi & Lucifer, hell yes for standard releases, she’s too lovely to resist. Alphamax seem to be on a roll, too, all of their releases are awfully tempting…. especially Cryska, which is something I’d not usually want. I’ll cross my fingers for a sale when she comes out!
Dunno about you Leah, but Saki looks lovely
Saki is one of those Beach Queens I would have gotten in a hearbeat a year or so ago, I think she looks quite pretty! But I have a lot of beach queens and I find it overly difficult to display them: their bases are bulky and take up too much space, and they’re just so small. I’ve pretty much sworn off them, unless it’s a character I really love (like the recent Sabers & the Persona girls) or one with something absolutely ridiculous like a chainsaw!
That Sonsaku. Seeing her on amiami well, it’s been a while since I had a laugh at how terrible a figure was, but that did it. Ahahaha. I’m imagining some flailing and contained chaos at griffon HQ – ‘the latest touhou prototypes are looking rubbish!’ ‘delaying tactics! slap another colour on qi pao Kanu and get her out there!’
I kinda enjoyed Natsuiro Kiseki, so this little run of Beach Queens was pretty nice. Colourful, with some cute outfit designs amongst the group and with each one suiting the personality of the character. Rinko’s a low point (the hair…), but not terrible. Could be the first proper swimsuit figures I get.
