One of my fondest childhood memories has to be the day my dad and I walked the 2 miles to the nearest Funcoland to buy the original Legend of Zelda for the NES. I remember getting home, popping the game in, and playing for hours upon hours with the giant map sprawled out on the floor, and then, when it was time for bed, my dad gave me a book to read, and that book was The Hobbit. All of my Zelda playing had reminded him of the world of The Hobbit and I quickly read the whole book. As I grew up, I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy and of course went to see all of the movies in theaters. To this day, those are some of my favorite movies that exist and Sideshow Collectibles really pulled the actors, costumes, and feel of the movies straight from the screen and into three-dimensions in one of the most impressive line of figures I’ve ever seen.
For once, the issues that pop up in many other Sideshow figures are nowhere to be seen. There’s no issues with the faces or scale or detailing being muddled, rather, these are impeccable representations of the characters and actors on screen. From Gandalf the Grey’s watchful and ready look to Boromir’s powerful stance, and of course Gimli’s fireball personality, these statues feel like the movies are taking place on the shelves of your collection. If I had the money, I’d love to collect this line, but instead I’ll have to live with the many pictures in the gallery below.
