When Good Smile Company showed off their Monster Hunter Nendoroid, I was very excited. The sculpt looked amazing, and my hopes for the finished product were very high. However, we’ve just gotten the full preview and I am… less than enthused. The paint is really the main issue here, as it’s flat and way too bright. I was expecting more muted tones and lots of shading to fit with the mood of the games, but sadly I find this Lagia Armor Nendoroid cartoony.
The other issue is that Mikatan shows him off with all kinds of cool stuff: a bit Rathalos and Lagia to fight, as well as a bit of meat to cook. However, none of it come with him–Good Smile didn’t make ANY accessories, even though there are tons and tons of options from the game. Overall, I’m having a hard time getting excited for this release… I was so hoping for a little Airou. He goes up for order on the 23rd, and let’s all pray that GSC just forgot to show off some things that will be revealed there.
