Another day, another Soniko figure! She does seem to be mightily popular these days, though like Tamaki and Kanu before her the “big name” companies like GSC and Alter are mostly avoiding her. But just picture how amazing an Alter Soniko would be! In any case, it’s mostly smaller companies working on her, like Wing: GSC’s not safe for work offshoot. They did a Summer Vacation Soniko, and at WonFest announced she’d be getting a tan companion piece. This was good news for many, who found the lack of a tan on the first one disappointing.
However, it’s not all sunshine and daisies. Like many tan figures she suffers from oompa loompa skin syndrome. It’s actually not THAT bad, but there’s a definite orange/yellow tint going on. Then again, these pictures seem to have pretty abysmal lighting so perhaps she’ll look better in person? In any case, I am not really loving this recolor. Like the first version she’ll have two faces and will be cast-off, and will retail for ¥8,800. She’s currently listed as a December release, but that could change since companies have moved on to March by now!
