When I saw this news pop up, I literally wanted to throw something across the room. Maybe you are thinking “hey Leah, it’s not that bad! Really, Good Smile & co haven’t made THAT many Madokas!” Oh really? Well, there’s the 1/8 scale version of her along with the maiko version in the works. Then there’s the Nendoroid, the school uniform Nendoroid, and the Ultimate Nendoroid. Then we’ve got the figmas: standard, school, and Ultimate. There’s also three Petits, and don’t even get me started on the RAH. Oh, and let’s not forget 1/8 Ultimate Madoka, who most certainly was not a massive sales flop who was over-produced out the ass and whose release ended in discounts of up to 70% off and outraged a whole lot of customers. And that is ONE CHARACTER from the series.
I mean, certainly it can’t get any worse. It’s not like they’d shrink down the Ultimate Madoka sculpt to 1/10 scale, change absolutely nothing but the arms and the face, and bundle her with a freaking magazine, RIGHT??!?!? Wrong. That is what is happening. I have… no word. Please stop, Good Smile. Right now. What’s next, movie versions of the first 1/8 and Ultimate Madoka along with a repaint of her Maiko version? Oh, and let’s not forget Movie figmas & Nendoroids!

Well, this is shocking! Not because Vividred Operation is unpopular–quite the opposite, actually, I’m shocked it took Wave so long to pick up the cast for their Beach Queens line. I mean, they announced a figure of Sasami Tsukuyomi before this. Sasami, who is almost always in pajamas, over Vividred Operation, a show where the main cast never wears pants. Yeah.
Anyway, all the main girls are getting Beach Queens! Akane Isshiki, Rei Kuroki, Aoi Futaba, Wakaba Saegusa and Himawari Shinomiya will all be made into miniatureform for your viewing and purchasing delight sometime in the near future. Truly thrilling news!

If there is one recent anime that seemed totally destined for Wave’s bikini-clad Beach Queens line, it was Medaka Box since the plot revolves around the giant boobs of the main character or some such. Strangely enough they held off a long time on this announcement: even Max Factory, who tend to be way behind the curve, beat them to it!
Oh, and it’s not just Medaka Kurokami who will be getting the Beach Queens treatment: Hansode Shiranui will be as well. As a short, bubbly loli she’s pretty much the exact opposite of Medaka so they’ll make an interesting duo.

It was only a few days ago that Wave announced a Beach Queen of Noumi from Little Busters! and already we are getting a look at her sculpt. As you’d expect from the character Noumi is full of energy: in fact, her feet aren’t even on the ground! I must admit that the swimsuit isn’t exactly what I pictured her in but overall I think she looks adorable. I love that they kept her hat on and the hair looks great: my only concern is that her eyes are a little far apart, but she isn’t even painted yet so this is obviously not the final face and likely won’t be an issue once we see the finished prototype.

Welcome to the return of the roundup! Sadly we here at Plastikitty got hit by a nasty spring flu so we’ve been out of commission in terms of the roundup for a few weeks, but now we’re back in business! Though technically it’s the roundup for the week of 3/29~4/4 we’re also featuring some of the best figures from the week before as well.
So what do we have in store? Tons of pretty ladies! In fact we’ve got releases from almost all the major manufacturers, including some that I have been really looking forward to. Check them all out after the jump!

Oh, Wave, not every single character needs to be shoved into a swimsuit and put into your Beach Queens line. Especially not ones that are usually, you know, clad head to toe in baggy floral pajamas. But Wave doesn’t seem to really pay attention to characters: ratings are what they go after, and Sasami-san@Ganbaranai is apparently popular enough to warrant an addition into the Beach Queens line. So expect miss Tsukuyomi to make an appearance in swimwear sometime in the near future!

Kotobukiya’s first line in the ArtFX+ scale was the full New 52 Justice League, so now that it’s all finished what is next? Well as we found out at Toy Fair, Marvel is joining the fray! At WonderCon they announced that Hulk would be entering the line, and I think it’s safe to bet that the rest of the Avengers will follow.
As for DC, we have three announcements! We’re getting some more ladies with Catwoman and Supergirl, and a baddie is joining the lineup with Black Adam. Hooray for more women! Hopefully Huntress gets an ArtFX+ at some point…

Wave sure does love making the whole cast of an anime into tiny swimsuit figures, so when they showed off Rin Natsume from Little Busters! you just knew there were going to be more. And given the popularity of Noumi Kudryavka, it seemed clear that she would be the next choice and… she is! Surprise! I bet we’ll also get at least Komari, and possibly Sasami and Saya, maybe even the much-neglected Mio!

Love Live! School Idol Project is kind of like IDOLM@STER, only you know… less popular. But still full of cute girls! We don’t have a ton of figures from it, though Good Smile announced a figure of Honoka and Bandai has that disappearing Figuarts Zero of her. But now, unsurprisingly (since they snatch up any license they can get their paws on) Wave is adding them to the Beach Queens line!
Well, not all of them. Honoka Kousaka, Umi Sonoda and Kotori Minami are the only girls announced so far. I really hope we get Niko and Eri as well!

At Dengeki’s 20th Anniversary event, Wave announced a whole slew of Beach Queens, including almost the entire cast of Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb! Wave is usually pretty fast so it’s odd that it has taken so long to see any, but that is probably because they were working on them all at once!
From left to right we have: Sae, Nazuna, Yuno, Miyako, Nori and Hiro. I usually am not a big fan of Beach Queens, but I am really liking this line! They’re all so cute, especially Miyako and Nori. Hopefully they turn out well painted.
