@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Another month, another set of magazine scans! But this is no ordinary month, oh no. We’ve got a roller coaster ride of emotions going on here. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll rip out your hair, you will sob with joy at a particular announcement from MegaHouse. Or, well, I did. (Not really because crying about figures is a little weird but my soul wept at a certain sculpt here. You’ll know which one when you get to it QUEEN’S GATE I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU.)
So hit the jump to see what all the fuss is about! And, you know, to see if any of this month’s ladies catch your eye.

I’m not usually a fan of busts. That’s actually putting it pretty lightly: I kind of loathe them. It just looks weird to have one third of a figure hanging out there! I like full bodies on my shelves thank you very much. But it seems like there is an exception to every rule, and I might just have found mine. It’s no surprise that it is coming from Asmus Toys, the same company that brought us The Swan which might just have the best figure sculpt. Ever.
The Princess is a Mini Bust meaning that, well, she’s tiny! The scale is 1/6, but since you are only getting part of a figure the full piece is a bit under 6 inches tall. And she isn’t cheap: even with AmiAmi’s discount you’ll be shelling out ¥12,720 for this beauty. But she’s so dainty, so lovely and delicate and somehow a bit creepy and ethereal at the same time. I’m in love!

I know I said that Orchid’s 1/5 swimsuit Soniko was my favorite version of her and could never be topped (and before that I probably said it about the Native version) but I was wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong! JUST LOOK AT THAT FACE. It’s perfect! Objectively (which is hard to do because I love her so much) it’s just…amazing. The subtle blush, the perfect teeth, so cute.
And the pose! The movement! The warm skintone! I’m so smitten. I loved her at Wonder Festival but these pictures have sent me over the edge. It helps that they are the best event photography I’ve ever seen. Orchid please make a million colorways forever and ever so I can collect nothing but Soniko until I die.

AlphaMax seemed to be a no-show at Wonder Festival, which was surprising since they seem to be really picking up the pace on their production. Did they have no new announcements? No new Tony girls for me?! Why, AlphaMax, whyyyyyy?!?!? Well, seems like my worrying was for nothing because we have a whole bunch of, um… things we’ve already seen for you.
Like all that pretty Tony Taka art, only bigger and cleaner shots of it! Along with their Sorceress, Saber Lily, Asuna, and the Kirino & Kuroneko duo. Oh, and there is one new announcement–they will be doing a figure based on some very NSFW art from Kizuki Aruchu, who illustrated Orchid Seed’s Yuki and Native’s Gamer Girl.

Let’s be honest: BEAT is far from the best of companies. In fact, they’re pretty close to the bottom, but they consistently produce figures of characters they know will sell so they stay afloat. And this time around they’ve shown of versions of both my waifu (Tamaki) and Stephen’s (Soniko, who we knew was coming) so I won’t give them too much of a hard time. And hey, the Sasara is pretty cute! And to be honesty, I like their (totally out of left field) Misae Suzuhara more than Native’s.
But of course it’s not all sunshine and boobs. The Vispo sculpts they’ve picked up are just… bad. Really, really bad. Like oh my god I can’t believe you’d try to sell these in 2013 bad. Wow.

Ever since Yamato switched their name to Arcadia, I’ve been feeling a lack of oomph, which is solidified by their Wonder Festival lineup. There’s like… nothing new. Bad Arcadia, bad! They don’t even have Shunya’s Soniko painted! Well, they do at least have a new Soniko–an action figure, part of their Neuromancer line, in her sailor outfit. Which we have seen zero figures of, so at least it’s something fresh!
They also had Neuromancer Rei and Asuka out, so while it’s been 3 years (possibly 4 years?) since their announcement… they are still working on them! No Rei’s not painted, these things take time! Yeah, 3 years.. to paint a figure… what are you, Orchid Seed? The only thing here I can get really excited about is their painted Blanc Neige who looks even better than the raw sculpt. Now to wait 6 months for orders…

Kotobukiya stuffed us full of so many teasers very few of the figures in this post are going to come as a surprise. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t awesome! Especially Dark Angel Olivia, uhnf. We’ve also got Colette Brunel, Shiki Ryougi, Sumika Kagami, the bunny version of Kasumi Yashiro and Tomo Asama. We’ve shown you the rest already: their ArtFX J line, the Tony Taka reveals, and the Bakemonogatari girls.
Of course we have some announcements! It seems they have (at least for the moment) stopped their Angelic Island line and are moving on to the hot new idol property, Love Live! School Idol Project. They’ll be doing swimsuit figures of Umi Sonada, Kotori Minami and Honoka Kousaka who are all pretty cute. Now… for the big announcement: ArtFX J Attack on Titan! Yes, that means BOYS BOYS BOYS YEAAH. Eren Jaegar and Levi, to be more specific. That should help balance out all the Mikasa merch!

Orchid Seed always likes to show off their goodies before Wonder Festival really gets started so we can slowly ease up to the truly stressful parts–though now with GSC flooding an entire page with shit before the event kicks off it doesn’t really matter so much anymore, does it? (can you tell I kind of hate the entire GSC umbrella right now because I do, but it’s okay Orchid I still love you).
OS didn’t bring as many new figures as I would have expected, but I am pleased with the lineup! Their lovely cheerleader Soniko is painted, as is the awesome Panty (who was just sculpted a year ago!). We’ve got a closer look at Mammon and Satan, both of which I’m dying to own, and… their Dark Elf is sculpted! She’s not based on the same art as Max Factory’s either which is definitely a good thing.

Ah, more teasers. Kotobukiya doesn’t show off as much as some companies, but we’re still getting a pretty generous peek! We’ll start with the boys (since there are a lot of them!). We’ve got three from Prince of Tennis: Kunimitsu Tezuka, who was announced a while back, is now sculpted and we are getting a full shot of him along with two announcements. He’ll be joined by Kuranosuke Shiraishi and Seiichi Yukimura. It also looks like we’ll be getting a double dose of Marik Ishtar: his figure is painted, but there is also an unpainted sculpt… of him totally topless! Fanservice for the ladies~
Of course there are some female figures as well! The Tomo Asama they announced ages ago seems to be sculpted, and the Kasumi Yashiro they announced a few days ago is already painted. Fast turnaround! We’ve also got two brand new girls: a second Hitagi Senjougahara and Sumika Kagami from Muv-Luv.

Whoo, scans. Pardon my lack of enthusiasm, but the week leading up to Wonder Festival always has me dreading scans. It means extra features (garage kit roundup and wishlist) on top of, well, the event coverage and we have three reviews to work on this week! So when I remembered scans were tonight I nearly cried. For real, ask Stephen.
So, let’s just dive right in. Wow, such figures! So PVC! Wowwwww! Maybe I’ll just do every post in Shibe…
