Vertex has been teasing their lovely Mitsuru from Persona 3 (in her Persona 4 Arena garb, just to make it extra confusing) for some time now, and I’ve been chomping at the bit to get my hands on this version of one of my all-time favorite characters. Finally, we are getting a full preview–and she looks amazing! I’ve been a big fan of Vertex since their impressive Asuka, and Mitsuru doesn’t disappoint, she looks flawless in almost every way. Except, perhaps, for the extra eye accessory, but you don’t have to put that on so let’s just pretend it doesn’t exist. Her coat is also removable, which is pretty damn cool and a feature I wasn’t expecting! But she won’t come cheap–Mitsuru retails for ¥12000, which you may be thinking is a lot for a 1/7 scale figure but GSC charges more for their 1/8 ladies so really, I am more than willing to fork over the cash for her.
There’s another preview as well, their Ikaruga from Senran Kagura! My opinion on her hasn’t really changed from when we first saw her. The paint is great and I like the movement and the pose, but the floating boobs are just a huge turnoff. I wish they’d made her more realisitically reacting to gravity and she’d be a buy, but for right now even at her price of ¥8,800 this is a pass. They are both listed as August releases but I have a sneaking suspicion that will change once they go up for order.

At the recent MegaHobby Expo Spring 2013, Kotobukiya finally showed off their painted Honda Futayo: while I’m far from Kyoukai Senjou No Horizon‘s biggest fan, I really do love the character design (aside from the obvious qualms I have with the fanservice) and I think Kotobukiya has done a lovely job on miss Futayo! Her face in particular is what really stood out to me, with a hundred yard stare that’s really different from the work we’ve seen on the other Horizon girls.
Now we are getting the full preview, and I am loving her even more! Her pose is basic but still has a lot of movement, and I’m a sucker for all that blue. Plus she’s so shiny! They also showed off a glimpse of the sculpt of the Tomo Asama they announced a very long time ago: in fact, I was beginning to think they forgot about her! I like that they are going with an action pose, it will be a nice contrast to Max Factory’s version.

It’s a well-kept secret, but I really love elf girls. Just kidding, I talk about it all the time and at this point I’m sure you are all rolling your eyes at me. “God, Leah, shut up about the elf girls already!” Well I will not shut up, because this is my website and today we are reviewing a lovely elf lass! And really, there are not a ton of elven figures out there–not nearly enough, in my opinion.
But thankfully Tony Taka seems to like them almost as much as I do, and with Kotobukiya making (almost) every girl from every Shining World game, we are guaranteed to get at least an elf or two a year. Last time it was the adorable loli Melty (review) but this time around we are getting a more natural elf based on the sylphs (no, her name has nothing to do with syphilis–stop giggling!). So hit the jump and let’s get this party started.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! is without a doubt one of the most popular animes of the past year. However, figures from it have been pretty much nonexistent. This is because Kyoto Animation is following in the footsteps of Square-Enix and keeps a tight grip on their licenses, preferring to make figures themselves than to, you know, let experienced companies make them tons of money with totally awesome figures that people actually want. No, I’m not bitter about the lack of Final Fantasy figures, why do you ask?
Anyway, back to the figure at hand! Unlike SE KyoAni actually makes some damn cute figures, though they have the downside of 1) slightly subpar finishing when it comes to release and 2) always being exclusives. Plus they’re kind of expensive and tiny–Rikka just barely breaks 4.5 inches in her kneeling pose. But look at how adorable she is!

For quite a while now, Alter (or Altair for the boys) have been working their way through the cast members of Tales of Vesperia. They took a little detour through Tales of Xillia for Milla and Jude, but got back on track for Raven and Estelle. Which, I was hoping, meant Judith was in my future since she was pretty much the only cast member left untouched. Well, it seems the odds are not in my favor tonight, because at the Tales Of Festival they announced that they are moving on to Tales of Symphonia!
They have two announced figures: Zelos Wilder, who is sculpted, and Lloyd Irving, who is not. I have never been a huge fan of the Tales of designs and these two are not an exception: I find Zelos charming but the sculpt doesn’t scream “must have” and to be frank Lloyd is just downright dull. But it’s good news for fans… unless, of course, you’re a fan of Judith. Then it’s just the worst news ever.

It’s no secret that I have been swooning over Good Smile Company’s Deep Sea Girl Miku Hatsune since we first saw the sculpt at Winter Wonder Festival. If you can believe it, Summer WonFest is only two months away so it’s time to get all the Winter goodies out of the office and into our homes! Or rather onto websites and up for order, and now it’s my lovely Miku’s turn–she’ll be up for order starting tonight.
I thought she was pretty when we first saw her painted, but Mikatan’s photos are really blowing me away. It seems they’ve deepened the blue on her hair and the black on her dress, creating a truly stunning figure that I just can’t wait to own! In fact, she might be my most anticipated figure of the year–and I don’t think I’ve said that about a GSC piece in a long time.

A few months ago, Alter & Phat! Company announced figures of the adorable Aty from Summon Night 3. Phat! Company’s has been MIA since then, but Alter’s version popped up at MegaHobby! Of course there isn’t much news here since she was sculpted when they first showed her off, so we didn’t show you her during the event coverage, but now that we’re getting a full gallery we are going to take a detailed look!
Alter has been kind of letting me down recently but this is a figure I am really looking forward to. She’s got a great dynamic pose, interesting colors (red hair yay!), a wonderfully detailed sculpt, and a second face with glasses. Who doesn’t love glasses? I know I do, since I need them to see small things like, uh, words.

Ques Q has really been focusing on their Touhou Project girls recently, so it’s no surprise that they have a new announcement in store for us. Well, maybe it’s a bit of a surprise that they haven’t sculpted Remilia yet, but I suppose she must be in the works… hopefully.
Anyway, this new announcement is a figure of Marisa Kirisame! I know what you’re thinking, we have a million figures of her. But this one is different! Because the art is so friggin adorable. It’s the most adorable! I mean, that face, so many frills, and she is riding on her broom! Okay, there are 2 other figures on a broom, but whatever. I want this one too.

We’ve been excited about Orchid Seed and Hobby Japan’s Seven Deadly Sins line since its inception. The art is awesome, the figures are more awesome. Even when we found out that Amakuni would be doing Leviathan, Beelzebub and Belphegor I found a way to deal. And the two Orchid Seed has already done, Asmodeus and Lucifer, have been awesome. So when their last two, Satan and Mammon, went up in the last batch of scans, I kind of saw them through rose tinted glasses some might say. Or rather, I had faith in the company.
As you can see from the individual shots in the gallery, many of the issues people had have been addressed already just by seeing the rest of the accessories and getting a different angle! With her cape, Satan looks a lot less lean and is totally bitchin. And from the correct viewing angle, Mammon doesn’t look and more busty from her original art–seriously, go look at it, she is CRAZY stacked in it. And her butt is more prominent. So there, nay-sayers! Orchid has pulled through!

I will freely admit that I’ve never been much of a Naruto fan. Lord knows I’ve tried, because the show is near and dear to my brother’s heart. In fact I have spent countless hours in front of the tv with him watching these kids duke it out, and if there’s one thing I have learned (aside from the fact that the country names are totally inaccurate) it’s that Sasuke is UP TO NO GOOD. But alas, due to Draco In Leather Pants syndrome (fair warning, that’s a TVtropes link) he has tons and tons of fangirls.
So, Sasuke. He’s bad. Bad to the bone! And MegaHouse is making a figure of him to go along with their Shippuden Naruto, who we’ve kindly included a picture of in the gallery… granted it’s not a great picture, since there’s tons of flash, but it’s the only event one we have at the moment. I actually have their older G.E.M Kakashi and adore him, and this Sasuke looks pretty badass for a rough sculpt! I wonder what ninja’s next… fingers crossed for Kankuro! Yeah yeah, I know it’s never gonna happen.
