@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

7 Sins Archive

Ah, the Seven Deadly Sins line: a massive collaboration between Nitro+, Amakuni and Orchid Seed that has proven to be my downfall… at least when it comes to money. I mean, most of these are exclusives and they suck your money out like little vampires. We’ve got quite a few updates from today’s events, the most important of which are TWO new paintjobs: Amakuni’s Belphegor and Beelzebub are both complete!
I am IN LOVE with Beelzebub. The wings, the pink twintails, she’s amazing. Belphegor is cute too but Bub over here is kind of stealing the show. We’ve got the alternate “sexy” version of Asmodeus here too in her bunny outfit, which I am… not digging (I wonder if the other girls will get less clothed versions too like her and Lucifer?), and also a second look at the Satan sculpt (which can you please release as a regular figure Orchid Seed thanks).

From the beginning of the Seven Deadly Sins line, I haven’t been the biggest fan of Mammon. In fact, I’d probably list her as one of my least favorites (with Leviathan, who I’m glad was handed off to Amakuni). I found her art okay, but the sculpt was just… well, let me way that the huge bust was not what I usually looked for in a figure, even with how naturally they tried to make them fall.
But now we’re seeing her painted, and my opinion is a bit different. There’s less attention on her boobs with all the wings and hair drills and the little skull batman on her butt. Also there’s, you know… her butt, which is an object of attention unto itself. And with the heart panties, it certainly draws more focus than (what looks like, at least) her clothed bust. She’ll retail for a high ¥11,000, which is to be expected since she’s being produced by Orchid Seed, and will come out in September (!!). You can pre-order her now at Big In Japan!

It’s been a long time since we had a messy batch of scans. In fact I’d almost forgotten what it was like to get terrible cellphone shots with half the page bent inward instead of the usual neat, flat scans–which of course means it’s the perfect time for it to happen again! Seriously, these scans suck. Also there are like… no good figures in them. We’ve got Kotobukiya’s Leafa, who we’ve seen, Belphegor who is another sculpt we’ve seen…, and AlphaMax’s Viola. That’s pretty much it for the excitement quota.
But of course there are other figures! FREEing has their Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru! line painted, and Amakuni’s Aisha is getting a repaint. There are tons of Yamato ladies from MegaHouse and they’ve added Takane as their next IDOLM@STER girl, and there’s the Charles D’Artagnan from Queen’s Gate who is so horribly tacky I want to cry. MegaHouse also showed off their Amy, and we’ve got figma Chihaya and two new Ultraseven/Ultraman figures from Plex: Metron Seijin and Zetton.
We’ve also got some pretty big news from Griffon: they’ll be working on a large chunk of the cast from Rozen Maiden! Shinku, Hina Ichigo, Suigintou, Kanaria, Suiseseki, Souseiseki, and Kirakishou will ALL be getting figures. I feel like they’ve found something to replace the Touhou line…

The nice thing about magazine scans is how nice and neat and predictable they are. Scans go up in cleanly scanned images, usually 3 to 4 in a single scan. I translate the info (unless, like today, they go up after I’ve turned in for tonight), chop up the images, write up the post, add some witty commentary (you know you love it) and bam, it’s done. But today we’re getting, uh, what must be half of the scans. And they’re not actually scans… they’re icky quality photos. What a story, Mark.
But of course there’s still figures! Some figures. Mostly of Shining World girls. A LOT of Shining World girls. And, surprisingly Fairy Tail characters! Hyakka makes an appearance, along with 7 Sins, so let’s hit the jump and get started.

In a shocking turn of events, the fully sculpted Seven Deadly Sins line has been unveiled at CharaHobby! Did anyone even know Orchid Seed & Amakuni were turning up here? I sure didn’t, but… here they are! There’s a ton of new stuff: mainly that Beelzebub and Belphegor, the last two from Amakuni, are sculpted and man Beelzebub is SO CUTE ahh!
Swimsuit Lucifer is also here (though we’ve seen the sculpt before) and she actually looks a lot cuter than I thought. Last but not least, there’s the Leviathan repaint! Which, to be honest, is bringing the whole thing down. She’s just… ugh, candy colored? What? Ew.
[UPDATE] Added closer pictures from moeyo!

Hobby Japan seems to be milking the Seven Deadly Sins line for all it’s worth, even more (and faster!) than they did with Hyakka Ryouran. Take Lucifer: we got the first release, an event-limited recolor, and a bikini figure. Now it seems Leviathan, who is done by Amakuni (Hobby Japan’s in-house manufacturer) is going down the same road. Se doesn’t have an alternate costume (yet) but we’re getting a recolor!
What colors, you ask? No one knows! An exciting mystery. Well, maybe not so exciting, because the original colors are kind of perfect and I can’t imagine them coming up with anything better. Lucifer’s recolor was almost universally considered a flop by everyone except me (yeah, I liked them, get over it!), so I am really wondering what they will do for her. The only thing I could see working would be a toxic green and black version. I’d snap that up in a heartbeat!

Another month, another set of magazine scans! But this is no ordinary month, oh no. We’ve got a roller coaster ride of emotions going on here. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll rip out your hair, you will sob with joy at a particular announcement from MegaHouse. Or, well, I did. (Not really because crying about figures is a little weird but my soul wept at a certain sculpt here. You’ll know which one when you get to it QUEEN’S GATE I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU.)
So hit the jump to see what all the fuss is about! And, you know, to see if any of this month’s ladies catch your eye.

Whoo, scans. Pardon my lack of enthusiasm, but the week leading up to Wonder Festival always has me dreading scans. It means extra features (garage kit roundup and wishlist) on top of, well, the event coverage and we have three reviews to work on this week! So when I remembered scans were tonight I nearly cried. For real, ask Stephen.
So, let’s just dive right in. Wow, such figures! So PVC! Wowwwww! Maybe I’ll just do every post in Shibe…

Just when you thought Orchid Seed was nearly done with the Seven Deadly Sins line, they turn around and pull out some new tricks! Seeing as how Alter is still working on swimsuit versions of the Hyakka Ryouran girls this really isn’t that surprising, but it is interesting that they are announcing it this early on. I mean, Satan and Mammon aren’t even up for order, and Lucifer’s regular figure hasn’t been released!
In any case, we have the full art for Lucifer’s swimsuit rendition and I have some mixed feelings about it. I love the pose and sunglasses, but I really wish her bikini top offered a bit more coverage. I’m not a fan of the “I couldn’t find a swimsuit that fit me!” trope because it’s so painfully fanservice-stupid and impractical. Also, Lucifer actually has a pretty realistic chest so I’m betting she could, you know, get a top that fit her. Hopefully Orchid manages to turn this into a sculpt I want!

Another month, another round of magazine scans! Like clockwork, it’s that time again. This time we’ve got a whole lot of Tony Taka for you guys, which makes me a very happy camper. Heck, every figure release in the world could be Tony Taka and I’d be pleased.
Of course we’ve got other things: Devil Survivor, Fate/Stay Night, Miku, the inevitable Cattleya, figmas, Nendoroids… and not a boy in sight! So check them all out below.
