7th Dragon Archive

  • Max Factory has always been about quality over quantity, and that’s certainly clear from their scaled figure Wonder Festival lineup. It’s very small! We have seen the Fate/Stay Night and Vocaloid figures, but of course there’s a handful more. We have two KanColle girls: Suzuya Kai-II and a damage mode Saratoga. Their Racing Sonico is finally painted, as is the gorgeous Mage from 7th Dragon. Ai-chan from Tawawa on Monday is also painted, if boobs that look like they are literally filled with helium are your thing. They’ll also be taking on Utaha Kasumigaoka from Saekano. [via whl4u]

  • Choo choo, all aboard the Vocaloid hype train~ This is an announcement I was expecting, but am still excited about. To follow up Dollfie Dreams Miku, Snow Miku, and Rin & Len, Volks will be adding Luka Megurine! AKA my favorite Vocaloid girl, I’m such a sucker for that long pink hair. Hopefully she will be a pre-order like all the others! They also announced two new Miku DD outfits from 7th Dragon that are just gorgeous. I’m sure they will be in the $150-200 range because the wig might be included, but honestly… totally worth it. I’ve skipped all the previous alt Miku outfits, but if pre-orders for this open at the same time as Luka they are coming home to me. [via the Dollfie Dream Twitter]

  • As you would expect from ques Q, the majority of their figures at Wonder Festival were from either Kantai Collection or Touhou Project. Boy, they just love those franchises! And their Kashima & Ro 500 were finally painted. Ro is so cute! Of course they had some other announcements, like Lala from To LOVEru as… Marilyn Monroe? Hmm. Curious. Rocket Sonico is sadly not painted, but at least they brought her! The Maid ver Samurai looks amazing, I love the skele-robot fish. They also will be doing Sagiri Izumi and Elf Yamada from Eromanga Sensei & Erika Itsumi and Clara from Girls und Panzer. [via Dengeki]

  • Like usual, ques Q’s booth at Wonder Festival was like 80% KanColle and Touhou Project. Yet they put out figures from both those series so slowly! It’s a conspiracy to drive us insane, I tell you. At least this year they had some cool KanColle girls who we don’t usually see, like Northern Princess (squee!), Kashima, Ro 5oo, and Naka. And they didn’t announce any more, thank the lord. On the Touhou front they announced two new Sakuya Izayoi and a new Remilia Scarlet. Two of my faves! Sadly, Love Bomber Sonico is still unpainted, as is Lancer and the Raita bunny girls. They did have quite a few announcements, of course: they’ll be doing Samurai from 7th Dragon in a maid outfit (wut), and Saber from Fate/Grand Order. Pink-haired Saber with a demon tail, I can get behind this. [via Dengeki]

  • Ah, ques Q. The company I always want to love but never end up buying stuff from. Given some of their cute Wonder Festival sculpts, though, I feel like my ques Q collection is about to climb. I mean, the Lancer alone is to die for! But we also have a very cute Show by Rock figure, God-Hand from 7th Dragon, so much Kantai Collection (tons of sculpts and, like, 8 announcements), a super cute Alice Cartelet, and many more. Including a Raita figure I have strong feelings about. Then we have announcements! Mai Kawakami from Musaigen no Phantom World, Assassin from Fate/Grand Order, and the three main girls from Girls und Panzer (why is this suddenly so figure-popular again?). [via Dengeki]

  • Flare is a company with a ton of potential: they make beautiful figures with some unique concepts. But their prices are so fucking high, like old Yamato, that I always kind of shy away from them. Their WonFest lineup is going to make that pretty hard, though. They had some beautiful sculpts out: the dynamic Samurai from 7th Dragon, the super-cute Noah, Halloween Caster, the gorgeous Houkago no Pleiades duo, and the Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm catgirls. Then there are so many announcements! Some of them, like the naked Gwendolyn, are a little weird. But then we have Saber Bride, 2 Tony Taka girls, Jeanne d’Arc, Akari from Aria, Oswald from Odin Sphere, and Taiga Kougami from King of Prism. [via figsoku]

  • Vertex is a company I have mixed feelings about. I have a few figures from them that I really love, but overall I think their style (aka outrageous boobs) is not for me, and the quality isn’t as good as I’d like for the price. But every once in a while they come up with something I love, and they did have a decent display at Wonder Festival. A lot of the focus was on their bodacious Sangokushi Taisen, along with their swimsuit Selvaria. Who will be getting a (santa) swimsuit friend: Juliana Eberhardt! Sonico was of course there, along with Senran Kagura and 7th Dragon. Then we have announcements! They’ll be making Purple Heart, Fiona from Border Break, and Rosa from BraveGirl Ravens. [via Akibahobby]

  • We’ve seen Kotobukiya’s amazing Spike announcement and their new Bishoujos already. And apparently they’re in a retro mood, because we have a lot of throwbacks here. Motoko from Ghost in the Shell, Sakura from Sakura Wars (YASS), the art for Pokemon Trainer Red, and a Cu-Poche of Rei (which means… Asuka is right behind)! Then there’s, you know, some modern stuff. Touken Ranbu, Tales of Berseria, IDOLM@STER: Million Live, Granblue Fantasy, 7th Dragon, and more. Check them all out below! [UPDATE] Added a few new figures to the gallery! • When Kotobukiya announced their Fortuner, it was met with mixed reactions. On one hand, her design is great and it’s good to see more from the series. On the other, there were worries that she would not be up to snuff with the Max Factory 7th Dragon figures, which have been (almost) universally amazing. Well, we won’t have to wait until Wonder Festival for the verdict–she’s painted already! I absolutely adore her design, almost as much as Hacker. A cat girl with blue & blonde hair? Yes please. I think her paint looks lovely, and all my fears of her not “fitting in” with the other 7th Dragon figures have been pretty much put to rest. [via Shirow Miwa’s Twitter]

  • It seems like Good Smile Company & co brought more to Miyazawa Model Expo than everyone else combined. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have good stuff from the other companies! In fact, we have way more non-GSC news to show you. So let’s just dive right in! Vertex showed off a ton of sculpts, including the Rune Knight from 7th Dragon which looks amazing. Kaitendoh’s Hestia is painted, and Wave brought theirs as well (along with tons of Beach Queens, most of them from Love Live). Dragon Toy/Daiki Kougyou showed off a handful of new sculpts, including some original Oda Non works. One of AlphaMax’s newest Tony Taka girls is painted, Orchid Seed actually made progress on a figure, we have announcements from Revolve and Gecco, there’s a new set of Digimon figures from MegaHouse, and tons more. Check it all out in the gallery! [via Akibahobby]
