  • Miku Hatsune has been the ruler of the figure world since her inception 10 years ago. I mean, it’s hard to think of a character who has lasted so long but also has a wide variety of figures and styles (Saber, perhaps… but some of her most popular forms are technically different characters). Of course Good Smile Company is going all-out with both a scaled figure and a Nendoroid. I am an absolute sucker for clear PVC and ribbons so as you can guess this release has been heaven for me. Two things I love, together at last! Add in some super cute faceplates and rainbow paint and you have yourself a winner in my books. I wonder if we’ll be getting a figma version too?

  • We sure have been getting a lot of Miku-related news recently! Given that it’s her 10th anniversary I suppose that’s not entirely surprising. She’s managed to be the It Girl of the figure world for a decade, which is a basically unsurpassed accomplishment. So, of course, in 2018 we are going to get a lot of Miku merch. Like the Magical Mirai Nendoroid, and this 10th anniversary edition! This one is quite similar to her original Nendoroid, with an updated sculpt and color palette: I love how the rainbow hues are all throughout this figure, from the ribbon wings to the ribbons in her hair to the shine on her outfit. It seems like a lot of thought went into this one. Order open tonight! [via Kahotan]

  • “Magical Mirai 5th Anniversary Miku Hatsune Nendoroid” is one handful of a name, and in order to honor that, this figure is also going to be a bit of a handful to get. That’s right, this perfect precious beautiful baby is an exclusive. Not really a surprise though, is it? And it’s only to Good Smile’s online shop (her page is already up), so not too much of a hassle to get. And let’s be real now, she looks 100% worth it. This is one of my favorite Nendoroid designs I’ve ever seen. The base outfit is really cute, but add in all the amazing extras and I am sold. A rainbow full of playing cards to sit on? Yes please. Her retail is a reasonable ¥4,800 and her orders open on September 4th, running until October 5th and she’s set for a February release.

  • For a while now, male figures have been on the rise. We’ve seen companies dedicate lines to boys, like Alter’s Altair or Kotobukiya’s ArtFX J. Now Good Smile Company is getting in on the action with a brand-new brand, Orange Rouge! I’m not sure how I feel about the name but hey, there’s now way I am going to complain about this particular announcement. Orange Rouge will be handling both male Nendoroids and scaled figures. Some of their planned figures are already ones we knew about, but four are all-new (and they’re all from Touken Ranbu). We’ll be getting Nendos of Kuninaga Tsurumaru (who is already sculpted!) and Mitsutada Shoukudaikiri, along with scales of Kiyomitsu Kashuu and Yasusada Yamatonokami. How exciting! • Gatchaman Crowds seems to be popular enough to get a few figures, but we really haven’t seen a ton from the anime in the PVC world. Which is a shame, because I am head over heels for Utsutsu’s design but her only figure so far has been exclusive (and therefor out of my price range). Thankfully fans are getting a break, because Phat! Company will be making Nendoroids of Utsutsu (of course) and Hajime Ichinose. While I am of course hoping this means more figures from the GSC family, I’m thrilled we are finally getting an Utsu I can own! [via Phat!’s Twitter]

  • Yukari Yakumo is probably my favorite Touhou Project character, though if you ask me tomorrow it might be Flandre, Chen, or Suika. I’m a little indecisive when it comes to the cast of Touhou, it’s just so friggin huge. Anyway, I was excited as hell when Yukari was announced as the next Touhou Nendo–about time, GSC! Now she is sculpted and SO CUTE. Almost… too cute. She better have an evil face. But the frills, the umbrella, the dress. It’s perfect! I don’t even mind that she will be an exclusive, and thus only available at the GSC shop. Whatever. Anything for Yukari. Do Chen and Ran next, Good Smile! We need more Nendoroids with ears & tails! • Blue hair, cyberpunk-esque extras, and lace-up boots are all things on my figure loves list. Technically, Iona should be a character I totally dig. She’s cute, the pale blue hair is lovely, and while she’s in a school uniform it’s different enough to stand out. But every time I see a figure of her it’s just so boring. Maybe because I know the highly superior Takao is from the same series? In any case, I’m as bored by Nendoroid Iona as I was when we saw the NicoNico preview. She comes with some better-than-decent extras: a fancy base, her hologram parts, a plethora of starfish, and two faces (happy and slightly bemused).  Oh, but you only get four starfish if you order her from the GSC online shop. SO TIRED OF THIS SHIT, GSC. Just stop. Ordering from your shop isn’t going to happen, stop trying to make it happen! Nendo Iona goes up for order on Wednesday, and I feel like skipping her out of protest because I want the four starfish but I am NOT passing up AmiAmi’s 20+% off discount for them. Eff that. • Medicom, why are you torturing me?! I am a huge Saber fan, but I have so many figures of her now that I have grown a pretty thick skin when it comes to resisting new releases. Okay, I did get the first Saber RAH, but I was able to pass up the Saber Alter version with ease. However, Saber Lily is easily my favorite Saber variant (especially Golden Caliburn, dat dress), so there is no way I can pass up this one. The rub? It’s their most expensive Saber yet, coming in at ¥23,000. Yes, you read that right. Over $200. So this will be one of their most expensive human RAHs ever, falling into the price range of the huge Eva unit RAHs. Why?! I need her so bad. She does have a release day of December, so I guess there is time to save up… maybe she will be my very expensive Christmas present to myself. [via Medicom’s Blog]

  • One of Good Smile Company’s biggest Wonder Festival reveals was the announcement of a Sheryl Nome Nendoroid. Fans of the galaxy songstress have been clamoring for this for YEARS, and it’s finally coming true! She was fully sculpted at the event and now its seems her paintjob has been completed. Seeing as how these are event photographs it’s hard to pass final judgment, but she looks good so far! Her hair has the signature blonde to pink gradient and the paint on the outfit looks nice and sharp. Something about the face doesn’t look quite right to me, but hopefully she’ll have some nice alternate expressions! Personally, I hope they go all Miku on us and push out a million alternate versions–at least Black and White bunny! [via 2012Macross’ Twitter]

  • Well, this was certainly an unexpected announcement to wake up to: Medicom seems to be producing a Real Action Hero of everyone’s favorite hero, Link! Hot off the heels of the ever popular figma, who pops up on our site quite frequently, Link is now receiving the large-scale action figure treatment via this awesome Real Action Hero. Link here features cloth clothes, leather accents, his sword, shield, bow and arrow, and the Stamina Beetle, all from Skyward Sword. And for the low, low price of ¥19,800 with release in November! I’m personally not a fan of Skyward Sword Link compared to other versions, but Medicom really did a great job here bringing Link to life. I can’t wait for Link to go up for order, though, and I hope we get to see other Nintendo characters in the Real Action Hero line soon! [via digitamin]
