  • FREEing: home of the bunny girl, land of the yukata. Guess what they had this year? So so many bunny girls, and two yukata… boys? It’s Shinji and Kaoru! Plus the FREE boys are here, so really they’re kind of boy-crazy. But don’t worry, we have like 50 announcements that are all girls all the time. In 1/4 scale we will be getting: Asmodeus & Lucifer from Seven Deadly Sins, Reimu, Lala & Nana & Haruna, Mea from To LOVEru, Purple Heart & Black Heart, Belldandy (!!), Reika from Gantz, Shiro from No Game No Life (both 1/4 and 1/12 scale because why not), Shimakaze, and Sumire Kanzaki from Sakura Wars. I’m excited to see them in 3 years when they finally get sculpted. [via amiami]

  • We’ve seen figures from Good Smile in the Kantai Collection and IDOLM@STER lines, but that was really just the tip of the iceberg. They had a ton of really cool figures (an announcements!). Of course the queen of my heart is that new Belldandy I’ve been eagerly anticipating. They also had many of the teased figures, like the new Mami (who has a matching Sayaka AND a Kyoko announcement!), Megumi Katou, and the new (amazing) Monogatari girl. There’s lots of new as well! Kabaneri‘s Mumei got a figure (surpriiiise), there’s Vira fron Granblue Fantasy, and tons of announcements. We’re finally getting a scaled Snow Miku, along with yet another Saber, Marcoss Delta‘s Mikumo Guynemer, Mei Irizaki from High School Fleet, and Re:Zero‘s Rem. What are you looking forward to? • [The Plastikitty crew is on vacation at the moment, but we’re still working to bring you the freshest PVC news! Please forgive our slightly sluggish upload schedule~] Max Factory’s Belldandy & Holly Bell is one of my all-time favorite figures, and when she came out I was really hoping for more from the franchise (which also happens to be one of my favorites). Alas, the giant Bell was pretty much all we got… until now, because Max Factory’s sister company Good Smile Company is bringing us a new Belldandy figure! Judging by the art this is going to be quite different from Max Factory’s, with a more sleek outfit and even some weaponry. I’m so excited for this my heart can’t take it! Though to be honest, what I really want is an Urd figure…though don’t we all? [via 833R Blog]

  • It’s been quite a while since we featured head-swapping fun on the site: in fact, Headswapping Figures part 2 was in last November! And the first a year before that. So I suppose it’s a once-yearly feature, which is like… totally intentional. Yup. This time we’ve got a whole host of amazing figures. Everything from sexy (Belldandy maids, anyone?), to amazing (I want the Millhiore-Kobato mashup in the header so hard), to downright absurd (Eevee as a bodybuilder). There’s a little something for everyone, even Star Wars fans and Kamen Rider aficionados, so check them out after the jump! [via 2chan]

  • When we first found out that Volks was doing a doll of Belldandy but as a Super Dollfie, not a Dollfie Dream, I was pretty saddened by the news. I mean, I am really not a resin doll girl (except for my beloved Charlotte). Then again, I’m trying to cut back on dolls (or rather, go on a total doll diet and buy zero), so it was a bittersweet moment. Now, though, I find myself conflicted–because in these new shots she looks STUNNING. They managed to capture her perfectly and she doesn’t have the uncanny valley thing going on that some SDs have. And the wings, oh my god, I’m in LOVE. Sadly she is way way out of my budget, so I’m just going to have to admire this goddess from afar. [via the SD Blog]

  • Well folks, I have good news and bad news. The good news: we have updates on the dolls that will be at Dolpa 30! There will be a DD of Erica Fontaine from Sakura Wars (more specifically, Sakura Taisen: Ecloe de Paris), who will be retailing for ¥64,050. Like Sakura, she comes with a fighting outfit that will retail for ¥15,540. She’s an M bust with normal skin. Then there’s Yaya from Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai, a surprising choice given how little we’ve seen in the figure world from this show! Yaya is a bit less than Erica, coming in at ¥59,850. And now… the bad news. Volks is finally making a Belldandy doll, but as you might have guessed from the header… this is not a Dollfie Dream, but a Super Dollfie. Which means 1) it’s not as true to the anime style as a DD and 2) she costs more. At ¥120,750 you better have a stash of cash tucked away under the bed for her! Thankfully I don’t like SDs very much so this is a clear pass for me… in fact, this whole Dolpa feels kind of “meh” aside from the (disappointing) Bell announcement. Ah well, there’s always the next event! Plus I’m also on a DD diet. [via Passion_Flower’s Twitter]

  • Of all the figures Good Smile & Co could potentially bring to New York Comic Con, this is definitely not one I thought would pop up! Something this delicate is not something I’d want to ship overseas in prototype form… but apparently, Belldandy is nearing her release date and based on the numbered base this might actually be a regular release. If so, I am absolutely astounded because the craftsmanship here blows anything I’ve ever seen out of the water. We’ve all seen this figure what feels like a hundred times. We’ve featured her on the site over and over, but seeing her in person is something else. The sculpt alone is just… mind-blowing. The detail! Her HAIR! I am so happy I pre-ordered this piece, and she’ll undoubtedly be the show-stopper of any collection she joins.

  • It’s that time again! For some people delays mean frustration: for me, it’s time to celebrate! Yay, figures I don’t have to pay for until next month… or later! Always a good thing. There’s not a whole lot of surprises here. Max Factory is continuing their massive slew of delays with SIX figures: Belldandy & Holly Bell, both Dark Elves, Kuroyukihime, and the re-releases of figmas Link & Samus. Not even re-releases out on time, MF? For real? Good Smile seems to be a bit better, with only two delays, both Nendoroids: the new Yoshika from Strike Witches and Maou. Then we’ve got Yu & Rise Pettankos from Phat! Company along with (shocker) their elaborate Bayonetta. Did anyone think she was coming out on time? For once all of these are only pushed back one month, but I’d be surprised if they all actually came out in October. [via GSC]

  • So by now we all know how amazing Max Factory’s Belldandy & Holly Bell figure is, but with a figure this incredibly detailed it can’t hurt to take a closer look! Moeyo is bringing us a detailed shoot of all the intricate pieces that make up this stunner–well, maybe not all of them, a fully detailed review of this duo would probably come out at over 100 shots! I think many people have been waiting years for this release, and I am happy that Max Factory waited until they could really do the sculpt justice before producing it. Is there really any doubt that this will be one of the best figures of 2013? Well let’s be honest–not just for the year, but of all time! If any figure is worth a $200+ pricetag, it’s this one. That’s right, they put out a whole lot this time around! But overall it is a fantastic week, with lots of gorgeous figures and very few flops. Check them all out after the jump!
