Alpha x Omega Archive

  • You know a figure is popular when it gets FOUR releases. Yes, this Queen’s Gate Alice has had 4 colorways (kind of). There was the original, the Akatsuki colorway, the Designer version, and now this one which is the same as the first but with a new, improved base. She’ll be even more limited than the first 3, apparently! Her initial release will be at MegaHobby Expo on the 25th and after that MegaTrea shop will put her up for order on the 26th at 18:00 JST. Alice has been one of my grails for some time now: the first 2 releases were before I started collecting, and I wasn’t thrilled with the recolor. Maybe she’ll finally be in the cards this time around!

  • Welcome to an action-packed week of orders here on Plastikitty! We’ve got a little bit of everything this time, including tons of boys, a single Nendoroid, some great re-releases, and of course a lot of Wonder Festival items. For me, though, it was the week of Tamaki. After a long time with no good Tamakis we got not one, not two, but… uh, yeah, two of her this week. Finally! So hit the jump to check them all out.

  • Much like our March Loot, April’s haul was delayed by an odd error on AmiAmi’s end. So far, that’s three out of four months this year that they’ve managed to mess stuff up. If it weren’t for their fantastic price cuts, we’d be moving elsewhere… except, really, there’s nowhere else to go! Sadly, it seems like every online retailer has managed to mess up one of our orders in a rather spectacular fashion. Order flubs aside, I found myself less excited for April’s order than previous months. Honestly, I’m not really sure why–maybe it’s because with all the delays, I kind of forgot what was going to be in it. So were we let down or were there some wonderful surprises in this month’s loot? Hit the jump to find out!

  • We already got a look at this figure in the recent magazine scans, but of course MegaHouse brought their new Cure Muse to the event! She looks great, so much more dynamic than their previous Precure! figures, with lots of those small details that make a figure really special. Hopefully we get some of the other girls from Suite PreCure♪ to go along with her! [via beyyang128’s Twitter]

  • Code Geass is wildly popular, but it seems like the figures available for it don’t really reflect this. There’s only a handful available, even of the bountiful and sexy female cast members. So when Alpha x Omega announced a figure of Suzaku Kururugi, who had zero representations before this, fans were overjoyed. And oh man, did he turn out amazing. The previous photos of him we’ve seen just didn’t do justice to the fantastic sculpt and the wonderful depth in the paint. The cape is a thing of beauty, and his pose is simple and strong without being boring. It’s pretty much the perfect representation of the character! Suzaku will retail for ¥8,500 and is marked at a misleading 1/8 scale. He’s going to be the same height as Zero, who is over 10″ tall so this is not a small figure! He’s set for an April release, and while figure sales seem to be dwindling I’m sure this is going to sell out way before it hits shelves! [via Alpha x Omega]

  • This has been a very busy month in the PVC figure world. Earlier in the month we had the 26th Prize Fair, the Miyazawa Model Exhibition Fall 2011, and the Gundam Expo. This week we had some awesome magazine scans and of course MegaHobby Expo! MegaHobby might have been the biggest of them all, with tons of new figure news. There were more new announcements than I was expecting, and it looks like 2012 is even more crowded now in terms of releases! So hit the jump to check out a roundup of all of our coverage as well as a gallery of all the odds and ends that showed up.

  • MegaHouse and Alter have put out quite a few figures from Code Geass, the most recent being MegaHouse’s sleek Emperor Lulu and the re-release of his Zero version. Now the two companies have combined forces to make the other guy from Code Geass-Suzaku Kururugi! He was shown off a while ago, but this is the first time we’ve seen him painted, and damn does he look sexy in Lulu’s outfit! He’s also going to be massive, as he’s to scale with the original Zero who is about 10″ tall. I know this is definitely a must-buy for me! [via Hobbystock]

  • This week was a good, balanced one for figures. Not too many re-releases or NSFW figures, a handful of figures that were highly anticipated, and some lovely surprises as well. There were also (surprisingly) no horrifyingly bad figures–in fact, this week was really low on flops! There were some re-release choices I don’t agree with, but overall a very solid selection. I ended up ordering perhaps more than I should, and March is filling up quickly. So let’s hit the jump and get started!
