Back in April of last year, MegaHouse announced a ton of new Gintama figures. It’s taken them quite some time to get around to actually making them, but it seems like we are finally seeing some progress! We actually saw Yagyu Kyubei in scans a while back but there have been some changes since then, mainly who is manufacturing her: it’s changed from MegaHouse to Alpha x Omega, Alter and MegaHouse’s joint company.
Yagyu looks amazing, with a beautiful short pink kimono-type ensemble and a fierce eyepatch. If you don’t like her dramatic pose and face you can give her a more demure expression, and she even comes with a monkey (named Bichigusomaru)! She retails for ¥8,400 which seems like a bit much, but at least she does have a lot of extras. Expect her release in October.

Alter is my favorite company, but at this point it’s almost by default. They have produced some absolutely amazing figures, but most of their best work is from 2 or even 3 years ago–my favorite of their recent releases are actually re-releases or exclusives. But one release I have been psyched for is their ambitious Kazuno, even though I tend to dislike most of the figures from Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon due to the T&A factor.
But Kazuno is anything but tacky–she’s sleek and majestic, and with her two weapons attached she’s downright frightening! If you don’t have the shelf space for these babies (and, let’s face it, most of us don’t–she seems bigger than Shin Sonic Fate!) she comes with alternate hands. Orders open on the 8th, and while I know she is going to be wildly expensive I am more than willing to shell out for this gorgeous figure.

Alter just loves to toy with our figure-loving hearts, especially when it comes to the Hyakka Ryouran line. It seems like the best ones are always exclusives–I liked the swimsuit Naoe a lot better than the regular version (review), and their recent exclusive Yagyu Jubei is a stunner. So of course it was no surprise that the heartbreakingly awesome Maeda was revealed to be an exclusive in the latest batch of magazine scans.
Maeda is all-around awesome, with a striking color palette and the usual awesome Alter sculpt. Plus, like most of Nitro+’s girls, she’s got a more realistic and rounded figure. However, if scantily-clad women aren’t your thing she’s probably not for you. Her base price is also on the high end–she’s ¥11,000 before any proxy fees, but she’s also 11″ tall with that umbrella and pretty damn detailed. Since I have the whole line (except for Hattori, who desperately needs a re-release!) there’s no way I am passing her up when she comes out in October.

Another month, another batch of magazine scans! Is it just me, or have scans kind of tapered off in intensity? I feel like several companies have kind of “dropped out” of the Hobby Japan scans, namely Good Smile Company & co. We really don’t get many big reveals from them anymore! In fact, the scans pretty much seem to be “check out what cool things MegaHouse has, with some stuff from Alter and Kotobukiya on the side. Oh, and maybe Orchid Seed will pop up too!”
Decline of the scans or not, we do have a pretty action-packed month for you! Well, if you’re a MegaTen fan at least. Because there are three new MegaTen girls! And only one of them is from Persona, believe it or not! So hit the jump and let’s get started.

Welcome to the week of scantily clad ladies! It seems that everyone this time around is at least partially undressed–we’ve got everything from swimsuits to maids to aprons to lingerie to cow outfits (no joke). Well, not everyone: there are some ladies with a full set of clothing, including a goth loli who has proven herself pretty popular and one of the less popular Nanoha ladies. Check them all out after the jump!

Given the very long gap between Einhart’s announcement and Alter showing off the sculpt, I assumed it would be a really long time until we saw her painted. Well, I was wrong! Here she is, all dressed up and nearly ready for orders. I’m a bit late on the Lyrical Nanoha train, seeing as how I missed about 3/4ths of Alter’s line, but that won’t stop me from ordering Einhart–she’s so cute!

Welcome to the return of the roundup! Sadly we here at Plastikitty got hit by a nasty spring flu so we’ve been out of commission in terms of the roundup for a few weeks, but now we’re back in business! Though technically it’s the roundup for the week of 3/29~4/4 we’re also featuring some of the best figures from the week before as well.
So what do we have in store? Tons of pretty ladies! In fact we’ve got releases from almost all the major manufacturers, including some that I have been really looking forward to. Check them all out after the jump!

I started collecting Alter’s Strike Witches line with the third release, Charlotte, and sadly I’ve been unable to complete the set since the first two (Yoshika and Sanya) are both outrageously expensive on the after-market. So I was thrilled when back in July Alter unveiled a second version of Sanya: the Rocket Booster edition! But the paint job left me wanting.
We’re getting a second preview now, and I am much happier! I still don’t love the coat but she comes with an alternate torso featuring her normal outfit along with a calmer face. Plus the antenna the first preview was missing! And the image of her with Eila, my favorite witch, looks just lovely! I really can’t wait for this release, and with only three unreleased girls (Perrine, Lynette, and Francesca) we are getting very close to wrapping up the series.
[UPDATE] Alter’s blog has shown off some official shots, as well as given us a date she is going up for order: the 3rd, tomorrow night!

Alter seems to go back and forth between figures that are shockingly awesome and ones that are totally dull unless you love the character. Like half of their K-On! line and Chitanda Eru, who I bemoaned when she came up at Wonder Festival. Note: I am the exact opposite of a KyoAni fan, so this is like… the exact opposite of exciting for me. Alter, why can’t you at least make the figure itself interesting?!?!?!
However, I know a ton of people absolutely adore Hyouka so I am happy that they finally get a decent figure. Actually I like the KyoAni one better to be honest, but she was quite hard to get. Pre-orders will open on the 3rd of April and she’s set for an August release.. but Alter is riding the delay train at full force so I highly doubt we’ll see her on time.

AmiAmi has this nasty habit of combining our orders into big glumps that overlap between months. So, for example, we might not get some of our January stuff until the beginning of March (yet mysteriously it will be with not just February but March items as well). You may have noticed that we skipped a January loot post: well, that’s because we didn’t even get all our figures from it until a few days ago!
But thankfully January and February seemed to be smaller months than most, so we’re just going to combine them into a mega loot post! Check it all out after the jump.
