Amakuni Archive

  • Ah, Amakuni. I love their figures but I hate getting them, because they are always exclusives. Unfortunately for me (and my wallet), they have so many new figures my heart yearns for. I mean first off, and most obviously, my Persona 5 gals! Anne, Motoko, Futaba (light of my life), and now… Death Waifu?! I can’t believe they’re moving on to social link romances and leaving Haru in the dust. Poor Haru. And then there’s the gorgeous Tony Taka Racing Miku (be still my heart), and Yu-Gi-Oh DX’s Jaden. They showed off quite a few new things as well, like the Satsuki and Ryuuko from Kill la Kill they are adding to the weird “hot springs bath” line or whatever that is. We’ve also got Erina from Queen’s Blade Unlimited: the second QB figure of the night! I wonder why there’s been such a resurgence? And will we be getting new, cute Ymirs in the future?! [via moeyo]

  • Every time I see an Amakuni figure I love, I die a little inside because they are all exclusives. Their booth this year is truly suffering because I want almost all of it. Guys, my heart. I’m dying. Seven Heavenly Virtues Michael is finally painted, and soooo pretty, as are quite a few of their KanColle girls. We also have a sculpt for Iowa which has some pretty impressively floating boobs. Cause she’s ‘Murican and we love plastic surgery? They also have two of their Persona 5 girls, Futaba and Makoto, sculpted. One is my waifu and one is my least favorite girl, can you guess which is which? We also got a nice, detailed look at their Racing Miku 2017 who… I actually like more than the GSC one. There were also some crazy surprises, like Jaden from Yu-Gi-Oh GX (the hell) and Mai from King of Fighters! Amakuni has really been killing it lately. [via Hobby Japan]

  • Amakuni: purveyor of expensive shit you probably can’t afford but really want. They’re continuing that trend today with another Persona 5 announcement: Futaba Sakura! Sigh, my squid waifu in her Phantom Thief outfit is a thing of dreams. And a lot of $$ Oh, they had other things as well! Like sculpts for Lilith Aensland, and Shinki Ixseal from Choukou Shinki Ixseal. Plus an announcement for Medusa Lancer from Fate/Grand Order, along with a few of their older sculpts. • We already saw the Heavenly Virtue Michael sculpted at Amakuni’s booth, but we’re finally getting an art reveal for the other six! Or at least, a little slice of each of their art. And we still don’t have the names, just their Virutes. But hey, better than nothing! They are, from left to right: Michael, Patience, Kindness (this is going to be the Mammon of the line, I guess!), Diligence, Charity (my favorite), Temperance, and Chastity. Which one are you looking forward to the most? [via ku_maxwell]

  • Amakuni is at it again, stealing all the money from my wallet. Damn them and their exclusive, beautiful merchandise! They really brought it this year. We have Anne from Persona 5 painted, and Makoto’s bike is there. From KanColle we have Libeccio, Ooyodo, Kashima, and Mutsu. There’s the amazing Mega Man statue, Ryoubi from Senran Kagura, a lot of Fate/Grand Order (Rider of Black is painted, and we have 2 announced Casters), and 2 boys from King of Prism. Plus that amazing Michael? She’s here too, along with an announcement for Lisa from Majo to Hyakkihei 2. Oh, and surprise, the Tony Taka Racing Miku? They’re making her! [via Hobby Japan]

  • While Persona 5 isn’t even out in the US yet (grumble grumble), it’s certainly reaching peak hype in Japan. And thus, it’s time for figures! We recently found out about Amakuni’s Anne, who was at the most recent Persona-themed event, along with Aquamarine’s Caroline and Justine who are newly sculpted. Then we have some new figures! Phat! Company surprised us all by showing off two sculpts: the main character and Futaba Sakura! Which means we have figures of most of the girls, something that’s (still) not even true for 3 or 4. • Amakuni is moving on up in the world. They used to be a company totally under my radar: they released only a handful of figures a month, tended to focus on fanservice, and only made exclusives. Well, the last two are still true, but they are ramping up their production (and quality!) like woah based on their MegaHobby display. The star of the show is definitely Anne Takamaki from Persona 5, along with an announcement for Makoto Niijima. I hope this is the first of many announcements for the game! We also have shockingly original duo-figure of Megaman X and Zero, a ton of Kantai Collection (Kashima, Ooyoda, Haruna, Libeccio, and Mutsu), the addition of Yuzuruha to their Muramasa line (along with alternate “wet” versions of Momohime and Kongiku), their cute Sonico which is ruined by the boobs, Orange Heart from the Neptunia franchise, and so much more. Like Ryoubi from Senran Kagura, a bunny version of Sword & Wizards‘ Fuyuka Yukishiro, the painted Deena Challenger, Cleric from Bikini Warriors, and announcement for Alice Shimada from Girls und Panzer, and the way too perfect Cyan from Show By Rock. I want so many of these figures… [via 1up]

  • Amakuni, the company that makes those figures you want but can’t afford because they’re all damn exclusives, brought a ton of stuff to Wonder Festival. A good chunk of it was Kantai Collection (Ooyodo, Libeccio, Kashima), but they also had the new wedding Muramasa figure, two Show by Rock figures (Crow sculpted, Cyan announced), Black Rider from Fate/Grand Order, and Cleric from Bikini Warriors. I want that Libeccio so bad… [via moeyo]

  • Amakuni, aka “maker of expensive exclusives I want but never pull the trigger on,” brought a small but well curated selection of figures to MegaHobby Expo. First and foremost, their serene Homura & Madoka figure set is finally painted–and maybe it’s just the paint, but their hands look a little less awkward here. They’ve also sculpted their Yukime from Jigoku Sensei Nube, who appears to be on a giant snowman head. I approve. Then we have two brand-new figures! A rather plain figure of Kantai Collection’s Mutsu and a definitely not plain figure of Ii Naotora from Sengoku Musou 4 . Her hair is so dynamic! [UPDATE] Kokuten no Miko Tamayorihime from Wixoss was on display as well! [via AmiAmi’s Twitter]

  • Amakuni is a strange company. Some of their sculpts, like the recent 7 Sins figures, are totally amazing. And then they really drop the ball in terms of quality, like with their hot springs Momohime who was a bit of a hot mess. And sadly, the trend will continue with their matching Kongiku. In theory this is a figure I should really love. Voluptuous fox lady in a towel? But aside from her face, nothing is doing it for me. Her breast sculpt is just weird (one so squished and floating, the other normal?), and the seams on her tail are SO bad. Like, “looks like a figure from 2008” bad. I thought we were past such things! Her retail of ¥10000 seems almost reasonable, but this is Amakuni so you know she’s an exclusive. Pre-order At: Big In Japan | Nippon Yasan
