@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Banpresto sure does love their fancy Ichiban Kuji line–probably because it has made so many collectors cry and empty their wallets. I’ll be honest, considering the after-market prices some of these go for I don’t know why Banpresto doesn’t just release all of them like regular figures for about 3k each–they’d certainly make more than the ¥800 they charge for a ticket, and fans would be happier!
Anyway, they had a HUGE lineup at ACE this year. What stole my heart is the Code Geass line: sadly, Kallen was an SQ figure, but the rest are all Ichiban Kuji. But I need that goth Lulu! We also have a LOT of K-On!, Fate/Stay Night, Gintama, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha along with all the rest of the regulars, along with the entire IDOLM@STER crew. No, seriously, all of them. Then there are some announcements, the one I am most excited for is the Prisma Illya line! More Rin, please.

December was (obviously) the last month of 2012, and boy was it a doozy. Even with the massive amount of delays that came late in the year it was just totally jam-packed with releases. In fact, this might actually be our biggest month of orders… ever. Well, maybe excluding July of 2010, where we had an entire wall of loot from SDCC. But in terms of imports, yeah, it’s a bit overwhelming! So hit the jump to check out all the goodies.

Alter’s Menma is currently the darling of the internet: it seems like almost every collector snatched her up, and they all have some pretty interesting photo ideas. Menma can come off her base quite easily, leaving you with the hideout to play with, and of course Menma herself who can balance on seemingly anything. We’ve put together a gallery for you of some of the best shots of this cutie, from the goofy to the gorgeous. Mine is still in the mail, but I’m so excited to get her! She really is gorgeous, now all I have to do is come up with a good photoshoot idea.

You know, we’ve been really up to date with our loot posts recently, getting them done right after boxes come in. Well, technically we got to July as soon as possible. AmiAmi decided to combine half of our July with our August stuff–the end of August to boot, so we had to wait a whole month for some of these beauties! Of course, we’re never really in a huge rush to get figures–we prefer to get them in small batches, so I can open one at a time and admire them all individually. So who did we get in our July order? Hit the jump to find out!

Last week was a holiday in Japan, so we had almost no pre-orders aside from figma Nanoha and the AlphaMax Nanoha! But don’t fear, we’re back in business this week! There are quite a few boys this time around, both new and old. While we have no figmas Good Smile makes up for it with three Nendoroids, as well as some cute smaller figures from their umbrella companies. Then, of course, we have the girls: tall girls, tiny girls, ghost girls, they’re all in here, so hit the jump and let’s get started!

When we first saw ques Q’s cute new Menma, I wasn’t exactly wowed. Up against Alter’s elaborate version and Max Factory’s unique swimsuit Menma, I didn’t really see a need for a 3rd one in my collection, especially when the pose has pretty much been done to death. Well, it seems they realized this and decided to give her a bit of extra flare: a ridiculously sweet smiling face! This definitely makes her stand out to me, since it’s an expression none of the other versions have and it suits her so well. Menma will retail for ¥8,000 with a December release, and orders should open shortly!

Menma from AnoHana has been quite popular among figure manufacturers both big and small. However, the vast majority of her figures seem nearly identical: standing in her long white dress, arms spread. The two different takes are Alter’s gorgeous diorama Menma and Max Factory’s adorable (and a bit risque) swimsuit version. Ques Q recently announced that they’d be doing a version of this cutie, but would she be any different than the others?
While I do think the sculpt here is quite adorable, I’m not sure if this brings anything new to the table. It’s Menma, she looks cute, she’s spinning around. I wish they’d gone with either a different pose or a different outfit, because right now this is just a “maybe” figure. It’s a shame, because they did a lovely job on her… just not good enough to make her pop.

Summer Wonder Festival seems to be the source of a lot of news recently (along with SDCC), and now we’re getting the biggest reveal of all: a sneak peek at all the goodies that will be there! Scans of the guidebook have leaked, and some of the things we already knew about like Good Smile’s Insane BRS Nendo and the Nanoha set. More exclusives, of course, were announced as well! Orchid seed will have recolors of the NSFW Chichinoe and Nurse Soniko. It seems like ques Q will have a lot there, like garage kits of their Touhou girls Nitori and Yuyuko, as well as the Bakemonogatari ending figures. There’s also a brand-new announcement: they are doing a figure of Menma, both as PVC and a garage kit! For event PVC releases, there will be that Alice recolor and another appearance by Yukari.
Of course that’s not all, and many companies use this as an opportunity to tease what they will have on display. Liquidstone is doing pretty much all the Madoka girls as adorable poseable figures, AmiAmi Zero will have Madoka Kyouno and Houki painted (as well surprise announcements of course), and Movic is working on a Fate/Zero keychain set. All of this news has me pretty excited for the event!

Welcome to another week of wallet-killing goodness! This was a particularly spectacular week of releases, with big-name releases from Alter and Good Smile Company, the sexiest male figure ever, a stunning Nendoroid, some hilariously big-breasted girls, and even more! So hit the jump to check them all out (and weep at how much money we are all going to have to spend in September).
