Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio Archive

  • Wing is another one of those companies I am never quite sure is going to make it another festival. They make high quality stuff, but it seems like every year they have less and less. This time around, it’s only a handful of girls! We do have a beautiful sitting Sakura Saber, along with Sansei & Nisei Muramasa. There are also 2 new announcements: a really cute kind of cyberpunk Atago, and Neptune! Usually we get Purple Heart so this will be a nice change of pace. [via Wing’s Twitter]

  • At any event they attend, Good Smile Company and their numerous umbrella companies always steal the show. How can they not, with so much firepower? Of course Nendoroids were right at the forefront. Megumin, Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke, lots of KanColle (Hatsuzuki, Kiso, Pola), Caster Extra, Hajime Iwaizumi, and Boba Fett all made an appearance. And of course figmas too! We had Takao, Iowa, and Mumei on display. Max Factory brought their new To LOVEru girl, Yuuki Mikan, and we had FREEing’s bunny Ryuuko Matoi. Last but not least, there’s Phat!’s Parform Hikari Karibuchi and Saber. [UPDATE] Added a few stray figures! [UPDATE 2] Added one last announcement: 22 Niang and 33 Niang from Bilibili! • Alter has always been my favorite figure manufacturer, and while there have been times my heart was swayed by others (Max Factory! AlphaMax! Orchid Seed!), I come back to them time and time again because of their consistent quality and unique sculpts. And once again they brought it in force to MegaHobby with a variety of gorgeous sculpts, painted figures, and new announcements. Of course there were a few from their IDOLM@STER line: their Rin Shibuya (who looks basically identical to the GSC one, let’s be honest) is painted, and they brought out the sculpt for their perfect winged Ranko who I love with all my heart. And the boys were out in force! Rei and Ritsu Sakuma from Ensemble Stars!, Cecil Aijima from Uta no☆Prince-sama♪, Haruka Nanase and Tachibana Mako from Free!, and an announcement for 3 new Free! boys: Sousuke Yamazaki, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rei Ryuugazaki. Plus the brand-new Dio Eraclea from Last Exile. They also had a beautiful 1/6 scale figure of Takao, the cheesy but appealing Santa Saber Alter, Ikumi Mito finally sculpted, Lala Deviluke in a maid outfit, Plachta from the Atelier games, and two new announcements: Hikari Karibuchi from Brave Witches and Okoi from Oboro Muramasa! • Welcome to another episode of “where the hell did all these figmas come from?” It’s like Nendoroids: there are just too many to keep track of. We brought you updates on a few of the big updates (Link, Deadpool, Gwendolyn). Sadly my dream figma, the Persona 3 MC, is still in the art phase while all these other guys are being announced. Life is so hard! But there’s lots of other cool things here. Like figma Ted! Just kidding, that thing is an abomination. Speaking of abominations there’s lots of Berserk news! Also Elsa, Caster, Metal Gear Solid, SAO, Samus, Kantai Collection, IDOLM@STER, Touken Ranbu, Fate/Grand Order, One Punch Man, and so much more! Hit the jump for the full gallery (and, like the Nendo roundup, a full list of all the figmas compiled by Stephen). [via WHL4U, sakai_max, shin_1, takeix, gsc_mamitan [1 2], amiami]

  • Figure prices are skyrocketing, the yen is tanking, figure collectors are being driven out of the hobby. So you know what we need? More figure events! Clearly. That will solve things. So what’s this show? It’s not Wonder Festival, not MegaHobby, not CharaHobby… it’s Hobby Show! The most generically named figure event of all time. Of all time. KanColle was, unsurprisingly, the main focus. We had a LOT from Max Factory: Harbour Princess and Atago both showed up, though unpainted. Figmas of Fubuki & Shimakaze along with the figFIX Mutsu were on display, along with non KanColle figmas: most notably the figma and Plamax Yoshika from Strike Witches. Plus the Metal Gear Solid, Expelled from Paradise,  and Ghost in the Shell figmas! And we have KanColle Nendos too: Akitsushima and anime version Fubuki. Plus an announcement from Aoshima, they’ll be doing a figure of Akitsushima. Of course there were a (few) non-Kantai girls and boys. Most notably, Tomytec is making Ushio to Tora Nendoroids of Ushio Aotsuki and Tora. Kotobukiya brought a handful of figures from Rage of Bahamut, Shining Resonance, Aquarion Logos, Tales of Zestiria, and Mononoke. And last but not least, Aoshima is picking up a gorgeous garage kit of Kongou from Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova! [via Hobby Search’s Blog]

  • I used to be absolutely blown away by Alter’s displays at the seasonal festivals. Now I wonder: am I jaded from being in the collecting hobby for to long, or has the general quality/impressiveness actually taken a nosedive? Sure, there are some lovely figures on display here. We have two (well, 3 but 2 of them are 1 figure) Strike Witches girls, a shiny male figure, and the impressively sculpted Haruna. And how can I forget swimsuit Lorna? I’m a sucker for a wolf maid in a bikini. But there’s also some blah. Yui Kotegawa is nothing to write home about–she could have come out 6 or 7 years ago, honestly, the sculpt is so bland. And there’s yet another Saber–excuse me, I mean Back Alley Satsuki. I don’t know, nothing here is screaming “oh my god, figure of the year, BUY ME!” But what about you guys? See anything that you absolutely have to own? [UPDATE] Added Charles, who is finally painted! [via figsoku]

  • Prize Fairs are always so exciting. I probably should put my love of prize figures behind me, but they always reel me back in with new goodies! I mean, look at that header. Chock-full of stuff I absolutely have to own. We’ve got another Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor, Evangelion Q figures, Sailor Pluto & Chibi Moon, tons of Kantai Collection prizes… and that’s only scratching the surface! In the gallery you’ll find Puzzle & Dragon, IDOLM@STER, Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru, Knights of Sidonia (not the song, though boy is that confusing), Sword Art Online, Girlfriend, Amagi Brilliant Park, Attack on Titan… and more, of course! Check them out below. [via Hobby Maniax & Dengeki]

  • Ques Q is one of the smaller companies, but they take on a pretty wide variety of licenses and tend to pick up some fantstic garage kits so I am a big fan of theirs–and their Wonder Festival lineup was pretty amazing! Okay, so they only had a few figures and the focus was mainly on new announcements but THAT ELIZABETH. She was unpainted the last time we saw her but now she’s painted and I love her and please put her up for order right now. Oh, and she won’t be the last Persona figure they do–Labrys is next! Percival, who was sculpted at last WonFest is painted now, and we’ve got more Eiyuu*Senki goodness Drake is sculpted, and they’ve announced Tutankhamun (whose name is spelled wrong, good job Japan). We’ve also got the Grizzry Panda sculpts, announcements for Mikasa Ackerman (the star of this WonFest), Iona and Takao from Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio, and Haruna & Shimakaze from Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~. That thing is EVERYWHERE. Seriously. [via Akibahobby]

  • We’ve already seen Phat! Company’s contribution to the world of IDOLM@STER, but of course they have more to offer! Not, you know, a whole lot more but I think Phat! goes for the “quality over quantity” thing. Of course their quality isn’t up to par with, say, Alter or Max Factory but they do their best and I’ve been pleased with many of my figures with them! So it’s okay to get totally excited about their two new sculpts, Metallica from Majo to Hyakkihei and their previously announced Kyouko Kirigiri from Dangan Ronpa. Both of them look awesome! Now for the announcements: brace yourselves! There are a lot! Like Max Factory they will be doing a character from Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~, a series that everyone suddenly seems to be all over. Sasara and Komachi Seishou from Fantasista Doll will be getting scaled figures, along with Ryouko Matoi from KILL la KILL (haha anime, stop with the silly names), and they’ll also be giving us Tsukushi Tsutsukakushi. And to round it all off we’ve got Takao from Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio! [via AmiAmi’s Facebook]
