Arsene Archive

  • With every entry into the Persona series we get progressively more figures. I predict that by the time 6 comes out (10 years from now, let’s be realistic) the figure market will be nothing but Persona. And I’m kind of okay with that. Today we have an unexpected announcement: MegaHouse is taking on the persona Arsene! Given their love for monsters (Digimon, Pokemon, etc) perhaps this isn’t that much of a shock, but the level of detail surely is. Those wings! And he will be part of the DX series, which means… very expensive and (knowing them and their hatred of letting me buy things I want) an exclusive. Doesn’t matter, gonna get Arsene. • And so we continue on in the tradition of having our loot posts 2 months late! It’s usually because we unbox figures before we remember to actually take pictures of them, but this time it happened a little differently. We actually just got our main January haul on Wednesday! Due to a mix-up with a March figure that was mysteriously stuck in our Jan order, we didn’t even get the payment request until the end of February. In terms of both money and numbers I think this is our biggest haul ever, dwarfing even the massive August loot! We’ve really been trying to cut back, so I blame the manufacturers for making too many awesome figures.

  • After a pretty slow string of figures last week, this week was simply chock-full of pre-orders. Several figures from the recent magazine scans are already up for order, and some surprises sneaked in as well! We’ve got aliens in swimsuits, re-releases galore, a girl with a giant hammer, a Nendoroid first, and a very large nurse. So hit the jump and let’s check them all out!

  • The premise of Milky Holmes is so absurdly Japanese. Famous detectives are moefied little girls, running around solving crimes at their private school. The bad lady is a booby-tastic dominatrix who runs the “Phantom Thieves” and for some reason, the teeny detectives can’t figure out that they busty bad guy must be the only busty girl at their school. Apparently the anime was quite bland, but I adore all of the character designs enough to cough up the money for the limited edition of Sherlock Shellingford’s Nendo! Arsene is too sexy to be a Nendo, though, so Good Smile Company is bringing her to us in delicious 1/8 scale. And I do mean delicious–this is probably the most gratuitous photoshoot Mikatan has ever done! But then again, when your subject is a dominatrix thief, who can really blame you? My favorite, thing, though, has to be the glossy finish–as I’ve said before, I’m a big fan of the glossy look on a lot of newer figures (except for Jello Miku), and Arsene definitely follows that trend. Arsene will be up for order on the 23rd, and I know for sure that I’ll be picking her up! Hopefully she goes easy on my other figures… [via Mikatan’s Blog]
