  • IT’S GENDO! aww, baby~ So yeah, one thing you’ve seen me ask for on this site countless times is a figure of Gendo sitting at his desk with his hands crossed in his famous pose and WE’VE FINALLY GOT IT! Ok, it’s his new weird 3.0 outfit, but whatever, I’ll take what I can get. That’s not all that Sega had on hand though, they also had all three girls in their racing outfits on hand, an awesome figure of Asuka in her school uniform, and Shinji and Kaworu bro-ing it up on some rubble, because what’s more romantic than sitting on broken pieces of buildings all cool-like while your dad tries to turn the world into Tang? If these are anything like every other Sega prize figure in the history of ever, they’ll be great quality for all of like $10, so I’m personally super excited for these since they always fulfill the holes that the larger companies *cough*Kotobukiya*cough* leave in our collections. I’m still holding out for a 1/6th scale Gendo from them though… [via anime_yoyaku’s Twitter 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6]

  • I never thought I’d see the day that we’d have Evangelion Nendoroids, but, here we are. It only took over 300 Nendoroid releases for them to finally get to a series that’s nearly 20 years old that’s loved worldwide, but they’ve finally gotten here. Annnnnd they’ve half-assed it. Instead of getting regular Nendoroids of Rei and Asuka, we’re getting racing team versions of the two instead. Both are still pretty damn adorable, but after waiting so long this feels like kind of a let down. I guess we’ll see regular Nendoroids of the whole cast when 4.0 comes out… whenever that will be. I think we’ll all be Tang before that happens… [via Wonderful Hobby Life For You’s Twitter and gsc_kahotan’s Twitter]

  • One of Alter’s out-of-left-field announcements from MegaHobby Expo this fall was the surprise sculpt & paint of Asuka from Senran Kagura: it’s an odd license for modern-day Alter to work on, even though they have done plenty of ero girls… but then again, they used to do Ikkitousen figures that were surprisingly tasteful! Asuka here is not really on the “tasteful” side but she sure as hell is on the “how do they squish sexy and cute into this much perfection” side! Orders for her open on the 8th, and I’m really really hoping this is not the only Senran Kagura figure they take on. Ikaruga next please: I am literally dying for a decent figure of her. LITERALLY. DYING. Okay maybe I’m only figuratively dying but please, someone, make a not-tacky Ikaruga that’s decent quality. [via Alter’s Blog]

  • I was really uninpressed but Alter’s Summer WonFest 2013 offerings, but it seems like that’s because they were saving all the good stuff for MegaHobby Autumn 2013! We got a veritable deluge of figures: swimsuit versions of Charlotte & Cecilia, Akane Isshiki from Vividred Operation, two Strike Witches, a gorgeous new Sora Kasugano, Asuka from Senran Kagura, and The Muse of Range Murata. Of course they had even more great figures, but we’ll be taking a look at the rest a bit later! There was a whole lot to feast your eyes upon, but at the time we (obviously) only had event photography. Quick, “oh my god look at this figure!” event photography. But some time has passed, which means it’s time to sit back, relax, and browse some higher quality galleries of these gorgeous ladies. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but my money’s on Sora all the way. I mean…. that dress. She’s perfect! [via Tmizo’s Flickr]

  • Alter sure is fond of girls tonight named Asuka, aren’t they? First Eva Q version Asuka, now this one! Of course they’re not the same character: one pilots a giant living robot, the other, um… fights with her boobs or something! To me at least Asuka is the most dull of the Senran Kagura girls, with a pretty boring outfit so I’ve never been interested in her figures but Alter’s pulled out a pretty cute rendition of her. It’s funny they’ve kept her hidden for so long, since she is both sculpted and painted now–and I can’t help but wonder if they’ll do any more of the girls. I’d kind of kill for an Alter Yagyu or Katsuragi. [via Iory Hamon’s Twitter]

  • Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person in the world who doesn’t hate Griffon. Yes, many of their figures are laughbly derpy and they screw up pretty often. But every once in a while they get it totally right: I dare you to look at their Ellis and tell me she sucks in any way. So open your mind up just a little, because they had a sculpt or two at WonFest that were totally awesome! Mainly the whooshy girl from Vividred Operation that looks like KOS-MOS (what’s up with that?) who I kind of need right now. Their kitty Kirino is also painfully cute, though they are doing a standing version of her that doesn’t look so hot. And their Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi line looks promising: Aoi Mukou has pink hair and is holding a cat, which I totally cannot resist, and they announced a matching Sone Miyuki. They also had sculpts for Yukimura Kusunoki, Asuka, Nyaruko, Haruka Kotoura and Benkei Musashibou, though only the latter caught my attention. As for announcements… they had plenty! They’ll be doing Saber again (the last time she was topless!), along with the Rozen Maiden dolls. We also have Shimakaze from Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~ (AGAIN oh my godd why is she so popular), Himawari Shinomiya in a swimsuit, Tsukiko & Tsukushi Tsutsukakushi (also in swimsuits), and lastly Yozora Mikazuki in a witch outfit (which I am very excited for–matching Sena please!) • Literally overnight, Toy’s Works & Chara-Ani (two companies that always work together, which is a tad confusing) somehow went from small manufacturers to kind of big players because they announced a MASSIVE amount of figures. Seriously, it’s staggering, so let’s dive right in. We’ll start with the old: their Asuna is painted and I have to say I’m impressed! There will also be a second Asuna, based on the art of her lying on the bed. They’re also doing a recolor of their Konomi Yuzuhara, and their next ToHeart 2 girl will be Tamaki in a rather compromizing position. Lastly, their Maken-Ki duo will be geting recolors (re-outfits?). Onto the new: they are doing the whole cast of Girls und Panzer in camo pajamas, we’re getting Kuroneko and Kirino in pretty adorable almost pjs, Akane Isshiki will be getting a totally cute toothbrushing-figure (what is it with Japan and girls brushing their teeth), they’re taking on Kunou (sculpted) and Koneko Toujou (art) from Highschool DxD, they’ll be doing Maou based on some pretty cute art and Chiho Sasaki to go with her, they have a figure of Kuroki Shirai sculpted, and out of nowhere there’s a lovely reading lady from the Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Techou line. Last but not least, they’re working on Senran Kagura (like every company under the sun). Asuka and Ikaruga are sculpted, and we have announcements for Katsuragi and Yumi. FINALLY, a Yumi! • Holy crap more pixellated teasers someone call an ambulance I’m gonna have a heart attack from all this excitement. Hey autocorrect no I do not mean tessellated I mean pixellated leave me alone! I’m talking to my computer, that’s how boring I find CM’s Corporation’s Wonder Festival teasers. Probably because they broke my heart with their Senran Kagura line: I was so excited for a set of all the girls, and then… they all sucked. Okay, Yagyu is passable, but the Hibari is so terrible I could cry. It looks like the last one in the line, Asuka, will be painted at this upcoming WonFest. Since we don’t have any good figures of her yet I am almost holding out hope but CM’s figures seems to almost universally suck. However, their maid Nyaruko was so friggin cute I could die so maybe, just maybe, Asuka won’t suck. They’ve also painted their Mashiro Shiina and have two new figures teased: Yuu Morisawa from Mahou no Tenshi Creamy Mami and Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi from Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko. I don’t think any figure of her is going to top the Koto one, but I guess they’re going to try! [via CM’s Blog]

  • CM’s Corp likes to take a license and run with it like there’s no tomorrow, which is clear from the way Senran Kagura dominated their Wonder Festival display. The Hibari they showed off earlier is painted, though based on how glossy she is I do not think that is the final prototype, and Katsuragi is sculpted. We also have 3 new announcements: Ikaruga, Yagyu, and Asuka. Is it just me or was this game/show everywhere this Wonder Festival?! Of course that’s not all they had, and some (but not all) of the teased figures popped up. There’s an oldschool looking Creamy Mami and a very, errr, unique original character. [via Akibahobby]

Bandai really focuses more on action figures, but they do put out a few cheaper, smaller-scale pre-painted figures in their Figuarts ZERO line. We’ve got all the teased Magi – Labyrinth of Magi Figuarts (and more!): Aladdin, Sinbad, Alibaba Saluja, Judai, and Morgiana. There’s also a Half-Age Character line in the shot you can see! There’s a few other assorted figures, many of which we saw at Dengeki’s 20th like the Senran Kagura girls. However, we have a new addition too: the lovely Yumi from Shinovi Versus! Last, we’ve got a red recolor of their adorable Ranka Lee to go with that blue Sheryl. [via Charanet’s Facebook]
