While Persona 5 isn’t even out in the US yet (grumble grumble), it’s certainly reaching peak hype in Japan. And thus, it’s time for figures! We recently found out about Amakuni’s Anne, who was at the most recent Persona-themed event, along with Aquamarine’s Caroline and Justine who are newly sculpted.
Then we have some new figures! Phat! Company surprised us all by showing off two sculpts: the main character and Futaba Sakura! Which means we have figures of most of the girls, something that’s (still) not even true for 3 or 4.

Just in time for the (Japanese) release of Persona 5, X-Plus is finally releasing their giant Jack Frost! I’ve been totally nuts for that thing since we first saw it, and while it’s been less than a year I seriously feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life. I mean, haven’t we all been waiting for an almost 16 inch tall Jack Frost? Yeah, that’s how big this bad boy is.
And, surprisingly, his price isn’t too insane given the size. ¥14,800, which is less than a lot of fancy 1/8 scale stuff is this day (sadly). A price I am more than willing to pay, even when I’m down to only 2 or so figures a month. Heck, if I had to pick one release for October it would be this cutie.

Aquamarine, a company that I usually overlook, has really been going out of their way to impress recently and their lineup at this Wonder Festival was no exception. First off, my beautiful DAN waifu Rise is painted (I LOVE HER) and we also have a Persona 5 announcement. Their Guilty Gear Elphelt Valentine is painted, and they’ve also announced Jack-O’ Valentine and Jam Kuradoberi. They’ve also got a cat-girl Illya that’s slightly less creepy than Broccoli’s, Strike Witches, and lots more sculpts.
Really, they were all about the announcements this year. We’ve got 4 Girls und Panzer figures, Lala Manaka, Hikari Kohinata from Amanchu!, Saber Extra, Saber Lily, Galko-chan, Tenshi from Angel Beats, Mai Kawakami from Musaigen no Phantom World, and two Kiniro Mosaic figures. For once, I am really looking forward to some Aquamarine figures!

I feel like I’ve been waiting ages for the Persona 3 MC figma, and it’s finally at an end! He is at Wonder Festival sculpted. But that’s not enough for them, oh no. They’re giving us Persona fans a little something extra: the Persona 5 MC! The game isn’t even out yet and it’s getting merchandise, what kind of world is this we live in? The change between P3 “one figure and you better like it” and P4/5 “figures of all the things!” has been really dramatic, and I love it.

Have you ever looked at your collection with a wistful sigh and said, “you know what this is missing? Fond memories of the literal hundreds of times I’ve died in the Souls games.” Yeah, we’ve all been there. But between this announcement and Gecco’s Bloodbourne statue, the wait is over! We can now be reminded of our Dark Souls failures in every room of the house. Wow!
First 4 Figures has quite the lineup coming: as you can see from the header, Ornstein is being sculpted as we speak (and looks pretty badass). They will also be bringing us Artorias, Sif, Solaire, and a Knight in Elite Armor. Fingers crossed for Nito next! You know you want that creepy asshole just chilling in your living room.

After years of waiting, we finally have a release date for Persona 5 (in Japan, at least). And you know what that means? THE HYPE TRAIN IS LEAVING THE STATION. Also, you know, it’s safe for companies to start pumping out figures. You know we’re going to get so many, especially of Anne and Squid-chan. But they’re starting small, with a 2-minifigure bundle that will be part of a special edition.
Morgana and the Protagonist will both be chibified by Toy’s Works for the Famitsu DX Bundle. Which will cost you a cool ¥12,000 for the cheapest option (though there’s one for ¥20,000 if you’ve got cash to blow). Of course we don’t know yet if we’ll be getting this here in the US, but I’m hoping so. I’m also hoping for a September US release, so… we’ll see.

You know all those figures we just saw at Wonder Festival? You know, literally like 6 days ago? Well it’s time to… look at them again! In the most pointless event of all time. Okay, not pointless for the companies, but kind of pointless for us. Except we get to look at all the pretty figures again?
The goodies from Good Smile Company, Max Factory, Phat! Company, Wing, and FREEing were on display, along with several of the Nendoroids and figmas. I mean, not all of them, obviously. Because that would be a, like, 100+ picture gallery. And they’d have to haul way too much stuff over. So for now, check out the selection they had at the event! I still think something looks off with Yuudachi, but I sure am excited for yukata Aegis.

Wonder Festival has come and gone: we’ve seen all the new PVC figures from it, and have a good sense of what the coming 6 months will look like in terms of pre-orders. But what about the non-PVC stuff? I mean, Wonder Festival is a big event, and it has a dealer’s room! Where you can get garage kits and kaiju and all sorts of great goodies… if you have the money, and of course the skill to paint. We showed you a pre-event roundup, but there’s always lots more to see at the actual thing.
A LOT more. And such a wide variety! There are weird tiny cats in kimonos, so very many KanColle and IM@S/Love Live girls, Chima Group’s goodies, a suspiciously low amount of Miku, lots of cuteness, and a very surprisingly SMT Nocturne kit. Check them all out below!

I’ve ragged on X-Plus a lot for their poorly made 1/4 scale swimsuit ladies. Or 1/2.5 scale or whatever it is they do. But you know what? All is forgiven. Let us bow down to our lord & master X-Plus. DO YOU SEE THE SIZE? THIS IS LIKE A 1/1 SCALE JACK FROST. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. THIS IS REAL LIFE. Someone hold me I can’t even

You know what I was definitely not expecting to see this Wonder Festival? I mean, at this point the answer is “like 90% of the new announcements.” But in particular, I was not at all expecting a figure of Persona 4’s Rise… in a random Dancing All Night outfit. I mean, Rise is my bae so I’m not going to complain, especially because her sculpt is absolutely gorgeous. It’s just odd. A harem Rise to add to my Rise harem?
