  • Prize figures have always been appealing: you get a cheap version of a popular character, often in an outfit that we’d never see in scales. Plus, the quality gets better and better on them every year. With rising scaled figure prices and a worsening exchange rate, prize figures are looking better than ever, so it’s a good thing the upcoming lineup of them seems amazing! We have all the regulars out and about: Evangelion, Kantai Collection, Sword Art Online, Fate/Grand Order, Bakemonogatari, Miku, Lupin, and many many more. The noodle topper ones really seem to be taking the prize world by storm: I have a few and can vouch for how amazingly fun they are to display all sorts of odd ways. Any of them catch your eye? • It seems like every year we get more and more Racing Miku figures. It used to be just the standard GSC scale/figma/Nendoroid, but now there’s Thai Miku and TeamUKYO (biking) Miku and sometimes even two figures of the main design. And it seems 2017 is shaping up to be the most prolific yet: we already know she has a scale from GSC and one from Amakuni based on slightly different art. Now Tony Taka is showing off two new designs! One of them, the TeamUKYO biking Miku, already has a prize figure from Banpresto you can check out in the gallery. Will we be getting a scale of her, or of the beautiful kimono-wearing art gracing GSC’s new cars? Neither has been announced, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they showed up tonight… [via Tony Taka’s Twitter]

  • We are about a week away from the two big winter events, Toy Fair & Winter Wonder Festival. But before then, a little taste of that event-reveal excitement! Yes, it’s time for ~yet another prize fair.~ I do love prize figures, but I had to cut myself off because man do those boxes add up into a wall really quickly. This time around, we have of course all the usuals: Dragon Ball Z (I need that Piccolo), Fate/Stay Night, IDOLM@STER, Sword Art Online, Bakemonogatari, Evangelion, Disney, Kantai Collection, et cetera. Everything from cute to creepy (can we stop with the big-head Disney Princesses now?). There are some newcomers on the scene too, like Touhou Project and BLAME! The star for me is that Anzu Futaba in the header: that sculpt does NOT look like a prize figure! [via Dengeki]

  • It’s almost fall, and you know what that means–new season, new Prize Fair. They’re on the 45th already, if you can believe it! And like always, the big 4 (FuRyu, Taito, SEGA, & Banpresto) had all the upcoming prize figures out on display. I always try to swear off prize figures, but like clockwork there are one or two that draw me back in. This time, funnily enough, it’s a collab I’ve basically ignored because I’m interested: the Madogatari figures. That Kiss-Shot in Homura garb, hnnng! There’s lots of other great stuff, and of course all the regulars (Evangelion, Miku, KanColle, Disney, Dragon Ball Z) were out in force. Check them all out in the gallery below! [via Dengeki]

  • You  know what they say: new season, new prize fair! Okay, so only I say that, but it’s basically true. Prize Fairs are a never-ending event that seem to strike when the weather changes. I know it’s technically been spring for months, but here in NY it’s been incredibly chilly until just this week. Finally, warm weather! And new figures! We have quite a few awesome things here, and some less than awesome ones as well–like the incredibly creepy Disney Princess line that will haunt my dreams. But along with the nightmares are cool releases like a bunch of Dragonball Z goodies including, at long last, Mr. Satan! We’ve also got Macross, Evangelion, Miku Hatsune, Fate/Grand Order, Kantai Collection, and a whole lot more… like my persona favorite, the Okami noodle toppers. Check them all out below! • While Good Smile Company & Co seemed to bring every new figure they had to Miyazawa Model Expo, other companies seemed a bit more conservative. They had 2-4 figures, and most of them were nothing new or exciting. They need to step up their game! But of course we still have lots of goodies to look at. Like the just-revealed Asuka Cu-Poche from Kotobukiya, mystery company Bell Fine’s gorgeous Nadia, not one but two terrifying Pochacos, Gecco’s Quiet statue, and a couple figures of questionable anatomy that make Pochaco look almost normal. All that and more after the jump! [via moeyo]

  • How many prize fairs are there even in a year? 4? 6? One every damn month? Sometimes it seems like that. I keep trying to swear off prize figures: they’re great quality for the price, but I already have so many expensive scaled figures and I am quickly running out of storage room. Or rather, I ran out a long time ago and just come up with more and more creative solutions. Yet somehow I keep coming back to prize figures. I can’t resist them! This batch seems particularly good. We have more of the Madoka x Bakemonogatari line, new Kantai Collection girls, more Evangelion (of course), a strange lack of Miku Hatsune, and more. Check them all out in the gallery! [UPDATE] Added Eikoh’s Puzzle & Dragons girls! [via Hobbylog & Dengeki]

  • It is a truth universally acknowledged that a Pokemon fan in possession of a good fortune must be in want of some PokeFigures. You know it’s true. You know you want them. And while MegaHouse has definitely been helping us out in that front, we all know we need more. Especially of the Pokemon themselves. Yeah, Ash is cool and all, but I want a huge scaled Charizard! Okay, so that one isn’t happening today. But we do have a ton of other goodies! Banpresto will be taking on the world of Pokemon in their lottery-exclusive Ichiban Kuji line. Aka “look at all these pretty things, their aftermarket price will kill you!” But man, that freaking Gengar is everything I want in life. There are even two Gengars! One in the mini figure line then a huge coming-out-of-the-ground one. Plus Pikachu x2 and Lucario, tiny plushes, keychains, and more. Check them all out in the gallery! [via White Noize]

  • Man, we sure do get a lot of prize fairs. We’re already on the 42nd! This seasonal event gives us a look at all the upcoming prize figures that we’ll be seeing go up for order in the next few weeks. And, you know, the impossible to get ones like Ichiban Kuji that you have to hunt down and sell your soul for. The lineup here was pretty much the same as what we’ve been seeing recently. Classics like Evangelion, Dragonball Z, Fate/Stay Night and Vocaloid combined with newer phenomenon like IDOLM@STER, the Monogatari series, Attack on Titan, and Kantai Collection. There were some surprises, like the amazing Madoka & Homura set. Oh, and for once, no Miku–but a Rin & Len! Check ’em all out in the gallery. [via Hobby Maniax, & Hobbylog]

  • With the amazing amount of Super Sonico figures on the market, you would think that companies would run out of ideas. But they always churn out something new (and strange)–with Ichiban Kuji and FuRyu probably being the most creative. The newest Banpresto sculpt of her was just inspired: a roller skating bunny waitress. Amazing. Now she’s painted, and it’s basically an explosion of pastel rainbow. As one would expect, given how colorful her original art always is. I don’t even know what is happening in this figure, but I like it. Cake, bunny ears, pretty colors… I’m sold, or I would be if this was a normal release. Ichiban Kuji is painfully expensive on the aftermarket, but I might be willing to plunk down a chunk of change on this cutie. [via Banpresto]
