There are a lot of villains in the DC-verse, but it seems like most of the popular ones are men. So it was no surprise that Kotobukiya’s Villains Forever line was all dudes. However, while she wasn’t officially announced, Harley WAS part of that initial art announcement (though in her New 52 style, which is this obviously not).
So it was great to see her out as a surprise announcement at NYCC. They went for a very different style with her: the face is much more realistic and less comic-y. It’s beautifully detailed, especially given how tiny she is–the ArtFX+ line is 1/10 scale. And we got some good related news at the panel: they are considering doing the other Gotham City Sirens, Poison Ivy and Catwoman, to go along with her!

Given the huge number of DC movies on the horizon, I’m sure by next NYCC Kotobukiya’s booth will be flooded with them (though let’s be honest, I’m only hoping for Aquaman & Mera). But this year there was only one: the hugely impressive Batman vs Superman duo. I sure do hate that stumpy batsuit but it looks great on this scale!
We also had Bishoujos. Lots of Bishoujos. Both Harleys, Black Canary, Wonder Girl. We had the villains ArtFX+ (including their new star Harley Quinn), the Super Powers line, and their larger scale ArtFX statues. Check them all out below!

We got some very exciting DC-related announcements at Kotobukiya’s panel (Bishoujo Katana and the TV show teasers). But given how massive their DC lines are, it’s no surprise that there was a ton more! Like the affordable retro Super Powers figures, their villains ArtFX+ line (including the brand-new Harley Quinn–and a new sculpt for Black Manta), and their ArtFX statues.
We also got a little more info about the Ikemen line. It was a pretty big deal when announced, and they discussed how happy fan response has been along with the potential of the line. If the Bat-Boys sell well enough, they will definitely be continuing with other characters!

Kotobukiya’s ArtFX+ Villains line has had a lot of great additions so far, but it’s no surprise that their Joker has been the most popular one. So it should also be no surprise that Puddin’s lady love is joining the line! Harley’s popularity is at an all-time high thanks to Suicide Squad, so I’m sure we’re going to be seeing a ton of figures of her…. in that terrible outfit.
Thankfully, this is classic Harley in her harlequin outfit! I’m not sure how I feel about the whole “holding up her butt with a hammer” thing because man, that seems uncomfortable. Just think of the splinters! But I just adore this outfit, so I’m really happy to be seeing more of it in any context.

I’ve really done a heel face turn on Kotobukiya’s version 2 Harley Quinn Bishoujo: my feelings have gone from annoyance at the idea to true love of the execution. If I had one small complaint it was that I’m not a huge fan of the red/blue color scheme, but that is being fixed with her special NYCC colorway! Which will be classic red and black, of course.
If you’re not going to the event, don’t worry! Harley is limited and exclusive, and of course will be easy to just pick up in person at their booth, but there’s a way for all Bishoujo fans in the US to get her. Pre-orders are open on their site right now for $74.99. They’ll probably go fast, so don’t hesitate if you want this release!

I’ve really done a 180 on Bishoujo Harley Quinn version 2 since her announcement. At first I was very disappointed in the choice of outfit, but the amazing sculpt quickly won me over. Now, I think it’s safe to say she might be one of my very-favorite Bishoujos… and she’s not even out yet!
At SDCC we got to take another up-close look at her. We also found out that there will be an exclusive NYCC version of her with the classic black & red color palette, a masked face, and a new weapon (gun instead of hammer). I definitely need them both!

For years fans have been practically begging for a male Bishoujo line. A Bishonen line, if you will. Featuring manly men and their butts. Well… I honestly can’t believe I’m finally saying this, but it’s happening!!! They just announced Ikemen, a line full of cute as hell boys. I mean, look at that Nightwing art. Look at that Nightwing butt. It’s a thing of beauty. The line will also be 1/7 scale, so you can display them with your Bishoujo figures!
So far, it seems like we’re gonna get most of the Bat Boys. We can only hope they are all as perfect and sassy as Dick.

We have seen quite a few things from DC’s Toy Fair booth already: the Suicide Squad statues, the Icons action figures, Amanda Conner’s Harley Quinns, the movie action figures, Batman Vs Superman stautes, the Batman the Animated Series line, and most importantly the Bombshells!
But you know what all those are missing? Rainbow Batman figures, something we all need of course. And plushies of some of their cutest animal pals, including my favorite: Dex-Starr! Plus much more, which you can check out below.

Sometimes I think that basically all of DC’s characters are iconic, then I remember characters like Rainbow Girl and think, “yeah, maybe not so much.” So of course their Icons line has everyone you would expect: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Swamp Thing, and even some villains like the Joker (of course!). Some of them seem a little less, um, iconic (Firestorm, really?), but the lineup looks great so far–if you like male heroes. Not many girls here, it seems.

You know what we need? More Batman Vs Superman figures. There’s definitely not enough of them on the market right now. But actually, jokes aside, most of what we’ve seen has been in statue form–there’s not a ton of action figures of them out there.
Of course DC couldn’t just stand by and let that happen, so they’re adding them to their action figure line! Which has all sorts of new features like increased poseability and details. They’re kind of like mini Hot Toys, really! And it’ll include characters from many of their movies both new and old. Check ’em all out in the gallery.
