  • It’s that time again! Wonder Festival is only 2 days away, so we’re bringing you our annual roundup of some of the best garage kits that will be at the event. Because, as you probably know, Wonder Festival has way more gks than PVC figures but we can’t get our greedy little paws on them. Plus, if we did, we can’t paint. But, as always, if you can paint/will be at the event, all images are labeled with both the circle & character name. The tides seem to be changing this WonFest. There’s very little of our usual standards, like Miku Hatsune or KanColle, and the new darling Re;Zero seems to have already fallen off. Instead we have a TON of Fate girls (both Grand Order and Extella), quite a bit of Persona 5 merchandise, and some truly stunning original characters. And more Adventure Time! Check them all out after the jump. [via i_con, horikazz, crea mode, amie grand, Akiba Weekend, moeyo, vispo, wonder showcase, mfc]

  • I was very excited when MegaHouse showed off their newest Sailor Moon sculpt at Wonder Festival. I really love the whole girls-in-food-cups thing, it’s just so freaking cute, and combine that with Sailor Moon? Um, yes please. The sculpt really looks amazing. The paint doesn’t quite live up to my hype, a little flat for my taste, but she still looks hella cute. She’s also hella limited and exclusive, because MegaHouse sucks and hates me. How many times have I complained about this? Well I ain’t gonna stop until they quit the “everything you want is impossible to get” bullshit. I also feel like she will be teeny, 1/10 scale, like their other Sailor Moon figures and she’s ¥5,900. Ouch! [via Sailor Moon Official]

  • Bandai has already given us quite a few poseable figures of Sailor Moon: the original, a repaint, Super Sailor Moon, and the (possibly cancelled) Moon R version. But Sailor Moon has a million outfits and thus, the parade of Figuarts will continue indefinitely. While the constant repaints were getting a little tiring for me, I’m actually excited for this one: Sailor Moon in her Crystal style! I mean, I didn’t actually end up watching Crystal because let’s be honest, the animation in those first few episodes was so painfully bad and it hurt to see my waifu Mars like that, but I still adore that they went back to the original art style. And since the Figuarts don’t seem to have the production issues that the scaled ones do, this might actually be the Sailor Moon of my dreams! [via Tamashii Nations]

  • When we first found out that Sailor Moon figures were finally happening, I was over the moon. Sadly, none have really met my expectations: we have Bandai’s lackluster figures, and while the MegaHouse ones are nice it’s all the girls in school uniforms. No Sailors in sight! Thankfully, it seems like that is about to change because they showed off a perfectly adorable figure of Sailor Moon… in a bowl of ice cream. Oh my god I need it right now! *please don’t be exclusive* [via AmiAmi’s Twitter]

  • Sailor Moon is the show that got me into anime, so of course it holds a special place in my heart. Yet I can’t be anything but bitter about Bandai’s Sailor Moon Crystal Figuarts ZERO. Sailor Moon had terrible quality control and was overpriced, but it’s worse with the other senshi: they’re all exclusive. Since then we’ve gotten lovely figures of Mars and Mercury that you need to pay an arm and a leg for, along with painted Jupiter. Of course they’re not going to stop with 4 out of the 5, so it’s no surprise that Sailor Venus popped up at the Toyko event. I do wish the girls had more dynamic poses, but seeing as how I couldn’t afford them even if they did maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. [via 1up]

  • Bandai and MegaHouse have been Princess Serenity crazy recently. We got the scaled figure from Bandai, a tiny Petit Chara from Megahouse, and now they’re giving us another colorway of her. Do you know what all 3 have in common? That’s right, they’re all bloody exclusives. What is this hell I am living in? This Princess Serenity, who has manga-accurate colors and thus I desperately want her, will be at “The Exhibition of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon” in Tokyo which takes place Aprin 16th-June 19th. So if you live in Tokyo, you’re in luck! The rest of us? Not so much. Why you do this MegaHouse. [via Roppongi Hills]

  • Sailor Moon was the first anime I ever watched, and years before it even came to the US I played with Sailor Moon paper dolls my parents bought me at a local Japanese store. I have been a fan of it for a very long time, so of course Bandai’s figure line is breaking my freaking heart. There are just so many problems! They’re teeny-tiny, not well made, super expensive, and have the lovely bonus of being mostly exclusives. Like Princess Serenity, sadly. Which is truly heartbreaking. She’s so pretty! From a distance. Don’t look too close, cause the sculpt is decidedly meh in closeup shots. But the base! Ah, tearing me apart. She’ll cost you a cool ¥6,000 + proxy fees, ouch. So far she is up at Big In Japan (you need to log into your account to see her), but I am hoping she gets a regular release in the US through Bluefin.

  • Treasure Festa is one of the biggest garage-kit-centric events, and we always get lots of beautiful goodies to look at and drool over. I mean, the chances that any of them will get made into PVC are pretty slim, but hey, we can dream! And salivate over how freaking perfect some of these are. That Ranko, man! Some of the trends were pretty obvious: there’s a lot of Miku Hatsune and quite a bit of Sailor Moon. We also saw, of course, some Evangelion, Fate/Stay Night and Bakemonogatari. More surprising was the lack of some things: we have a bit of Love Live! and IDOLM@STER, but not as nearly as much as I’d expect. And there’s also one Monster Musume figure: I thought that show was basically made to make figures from, but this is literally the first item we’ve seen from it. Maybe there will be more at Wonder Festival? Also, we usually like to focus on the good kits here, but I’ve included a truly, startlingly horrible one for you at the end. It involves boobs literally floating toward heaven. Enjoy. [via moeyo & Twoon Two]

  • MegaHouse is the company that runs MegaHobby Expo, but somehow they’re always the company I’m least excited to cover. I mean, they had some great stuff (like the Pokemon and Digimon figures we already saw) but overall they’re just kind of… lackluster? There are some kind of cool announcements, like the fact that we’re getting bikini figures of the Bikini Warriors girls–they showed off Mage and Paladin! But overall? Yeah, not too pumped. I think that’s because there is a big focus on shows like One Piece and Gintama, which are just not my jam. But if you are a fan, this was a great event! We have announcements for quite a few new P.O.Ps, including (another) bikini Nami, a lounging Sanji, and Trafalgar Law… as a girl? There’s also a new Bulma–after years of Bulma figure drought, we’re now (happily) drowning in her! Also the reveal of a Sailor Saturn Petit Chara Deluxe. Funny that they’re doing her before any of the other senshi! Last but not least, we’re getting figures of Relena Peacecraft and Heero Yuy from Alpha x Omega! Aw yeah Gundam Wing. MegaHouse will also be making Asuka Sugou from Shin Seiki GPX Cyber Formula. [via figsoku]

  • Bandai’s Sailor Moon Crystal line has been a rollercoaster of emotion. When we first saw them, they looked pretty good. Better than the first set of Figuarts ZERO, at least! And reasonably priced. So we all hopped on Sailor Moon, of course. But then… then came Mercury, as an exclusive, meaning that it’s likely all the other Senshi will be exclusive. Because Bandai hates us and wants us to suffer. Then we got a whammy when Sailor Moon came out: the quality was atrocious! Just awful, nowhere near the $50 she went for. Now my boo Sailor Mars is up for order, and it’s more of the same. She’s exclusive and the quality is just not there for her ¥5,000 retail. There are clear issues in the prototype even! But… it’s my favorite anime character… so I still want her. Oh, the shame. Pre-order At: Big In Japan | Nippon Yasan | Anime Export (EU)
