Black Rock Shooter Archive

  • We have already seen Good Smile’s Fate/Stay Night and Vocaloid scaled figures, but of course they had a lot more. And I do mean a LOT. We are going to dive right in because there’s a lot to cover, starting with painted figures. Emilia from Re:Zero, Akari Kawamoto from March Comes In Like A Lion, Mythra from Xenoblade Chronices 2, HOT LIMIT Eriri Spencer, and the terrifying Antarc from Land of the Lustrous are all finished and nearly ready for orders. For new sculpts we have Shuvi from No Game No Life Zero, the winged Kanade Tachibana, Altair from re:CREATORS, Shopping Mode Haruna from KanColle, and the lovely Wedding Louise. Now for the biggest category: announcements! We have two super throwback ones in a new Lacia from BEATLESS (remember the OG?) and Black Rock Shooter Inexhaustible Version. We’ll be getting a new Cardcaptor Sakura, a Shopping Mode Kashima, a swimsuit Michiru Hyodo, Hifumi Takimoto, Siluca from Record of Grancrest War, and…. Kizuna Ai, because we need more bizarre pop culture figures. [via whl4u]

  • This year at Toy Fair we already took a closer look at lots of Good Smile Company & Co’s goods: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Statues, Nendoroid Elsa, figma Sakura, figma Kirito, Nendoroid Mario, and Red Hood Miku. But they had tons more, and from many companies! It wasn’t just the usual umbrella there, but all the companies that they sell overseas including Gecco and Kaiyodo. The focus was definitely on American-friendly licenses and figures: lots of game merchandise, a ton of figmas and Nendoroids, and popular series like Fairy Tail and Kill la Kill. Check them all out in the gallery!

  • Chariot’s ride to completion has been a bumpy one. Rumors of her release started circulating back in 2012, though the official announcement didn’t come until a year later. And then there was a large buzz about her possibly being cancelled, though that was squashed when the sculpt was revealed in all its glory. Now she’s all painted and shiny and ready to go! I’m a big fan of huke’s character design and personally I think Chariot is one of his best girls. Elaborate without being over the top, and the frilliness of her outfit keeps a touch of girlish charm. And Max Factory really went all out here, the detail is astounding! Of course she won’t come cheap: she retails for ¥6800 with a November release, and orders open this week. [via the figma blog]

  • I look back on the days of neat, crisp and organized magazine scans with such nostalgia. What a time to be alive and blogging! Now all we get is this mess. Chopped up scans missing info (and probably half the figures), and half of them are cellphone pictures. Oh goodie. Well, there’s not a whole lot here so let’s just dive in! Good Smile Company’s Eren Yeagar is sculpted, and by none other than Kiking! And he looks badass as all hell. We also have sculpts for MegaHouse’s Elpeo Puru from Gundam ZZ, peeks at figmas Hibiki, EV Mirai Miku (who we just saw full shots of), Chariot, and Uno Uzume. Of course we can’t leave out Nendoroids! It looks like the Solid Snake sculpt is finally coming along. And last, we have a new figure of Yagyu Jubei from Aizu Project! [via Figure/GK]

  • I spent a very long time staring at that picture of Chariot before I realized that it was a figma, and not a scaled figure with the most boring pose of all time. Okay okay, it was like 30 seconds, but still. Dat detail. She’s so pretty! And to think, we all thought she was getting cancelled. Well, she’s probably going to cost like a hundred bucks so that’s close enough to being cancelled for my wallet. Sigh. The Dawn of the Dead zombie was also on display at Miyazawa Model Expo, along with some of the super-expensive, why-can’t-I-own-these Avengers: Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man. You know what I would shell out like $75 for? Black Widow. No questions asked, she doesn’t have to come with a single accessory. Please, figure gods. Please. [via Kahotan’s Twitter]

  • We have already seen a lot from Good Smile Company this Toy Fair: Kill la Kill figures, Nintendo, Berserk, and Attack on Titan, along with in-depth galleries of the Titan statue, Tiki, the Motoko & Zombie figmas, Ryuuko, and… a car? But they had a huge booth this year jam-packed with goodies, so we have a lot more to show you! Many of their Sword Art Online figures were on display, including the new GSC Asuna, who is totally gorgeous! I passed on her pre-orders but seeing the figure in person has me re-considering this. Some Wonder Festival announcements were there, like the Pyramid Head and Bubble Head Nurse figmas, Lucy & Natsu from the Fairy Tail line, and Ninja Storm figmas. Then there was a lovely display of some of their older figures, like the Black Rock Shooter animation line and the amazing Love Is War Miku Hatsune. Check them all out in the gallery!

  • Well, just like Nendoroids, it seems like the Good Smile Company umbrella decided to bring a crapton of figmas as well. You may be asking why I used umbrella there, well, it seems FREEing is lending a hand to help free up Max Factory’s work load (pun intended). We already showed you all of the Kill la Kill, Kantai Collection, new Racing Miku, Idolm@ster, Nintendo, Avengers, Motoko Kusanagi, and Detective Conan figmas, but there was a lot more as well. Finally we’ve got a painted figma Archer back from the dead, two new Mikus (a Spring one and a bike one), Nagise Momoe from Madoka, a new Saber, and Chariot from more well known properties. Then we’ve got Funasshi, Hazuki Mizuhara, Nobunaga the Fool (sidebar, don’t watch this anime, it’s godawful), Sakamichi Onoda, Saori Takebi, and Uzume Uno rounding out the anime front on the lesser-known-yet-still-gets-a-figma front. Even lesser known is the man that I’ve dubbed Gourmet of Loneliness as that’s all that Google decided to spit out for a name and he was only in a small run manga from 1994-1996. Then we’ve got the Zombie figma and Ninja Slayer figmas for a good dose of some action. On the video game front there’s going to be Silent Hill figmas of Pyramid Head and Bubblehead Nurse, which both look spookily awesome. Finally, we’ve got five new Berserk figmas: Femto, Ubik, Slan, Conrad, and Void that my only memories of are that they creeped out my high school anime club so much at the end of the anime that half of my club was in tears from the WTF-ness. Oh, and then there’s a horse. Of course. [via GSC’s WonFest Page and 2chan]

  • There are so many Nendos at WonFest that they don’t leave time for chit-chatty intros, we’re just gonna dive in. We saw some already: Kill la Kill, Kantai Collection, Sakura, Avengers, Snake, and the new Racing Miku. There’s a whole lot more of course: art for Araragi, the sculpt for Oshino, and Tsubasa painted to start. We’ve got a Titania version Asuna, Nagisa Momoe, Link, Yukari Yakumo, Aoba, a new Rin Tohsaka along with sculpted Gilgamesh, Chitoge Kirisake from Nisekoi, a new Miss Monochrome (along with the first one painted), Black Gold Saw, Saki Miyanaga from Saki, Mayu Shimada from Wake Up, Girls!, Nana Kazuki from God Eater 2 (and a painted Alisa), Jeanne Kaguya d’Arc from Nobunaga the Fool, and Maiko Madoka (which is different from Yukata how?). Oh, and there’s a new Miku. Then we’ve got the announcements! Chloe Lemaire & Shiinakokomi from Girlfriend, Iona from Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova, Kosaki Onodera, Armin Arlet from AoT, a new Soniko in a bikini, Sugiintou from Rozen Maiden, and Saori Takeba from Girls und Panzer. • Sometimes I wonder how Good Smile Company (and Max Factory and Phat! and FREEing) decide how many Nendoroids they are going to make in the next six months. Drinking game? A friendly round of poker? Punch Buggy? Because oh my god there are so many kill me now it’s just too much why god whyyy. As you can tell, I am not having fun collecting Nendoroids anymore. It’s overwhelming and not enjoyable. Turn the volume down a little GSC. Please. Since there is so much (and I just rambled on for a paragraph) let’s dive in! We showed you Saber Extra, Alter, Bride, and Gilgamesh, along with Toon Link & Luigi and the Titan Nendoroids, but there are so many more (a few of which were in Mikatan’s teasers). From Touhou we have Aya and Yukari (FINALLY), the Devil Survivor MC is sculpted (with BYAKKO) along with Aegis, we’ve got all the summer Vocaloids, two more Bakemonogatari Nendoroids (Mayoi and Kanbaru), Tooka Yatogami, Iron Man, Chris Yukine, Fang Lin Yin and Rina Ozawa. But there are brand new, never before seen Nedoroids as well! Shimakaze from Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~, Tomoko Kuroko from Watashi ga Motenai, Kuroko Shirai from To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, Yukari Akiyama from Girls und Panzer, Uzume Uno from Fantasista Doll, Akari Taiyou & Seira Hoshikawa from Genei o Kakeru Taiyou, Black Gold Saw, Chariot, a new Monster Hunter, Mana Kamaishi & Marina Matoba from Tetsudou Musume, Erica Fontaine from Sakura Wars, and Shinku from Rozen Maiden. Then there’s more Nendoroid Plus effect parts and a few Petit sets. Check them all out below! [via Good Smile Company’s WonFest Page and HMV_Anime’s Twitter]

  • I’ve gotten to a point where I really hate Wonder Festival teasers. It’s like when you are a little kid and you peek at your Christmas presents: it ruins the surprise! But Good Smile Company just loves to bombard us with teaser after teaser, and Mikatan went all out this year so let’s dive right in. We have peeks at only two scaled figures, the just-announced Uzuki Shimamura and yet another Madoka Kaname (kill me now), this time a dynamic version of her in her regular outfit! It’s based on art of all 5 of the main girls… you know what that means. As for Nendos, we have a ton. Quite a few from last WonFest are updated: Aegis is scupted, Strength is painted & sculpted, Aya is finished, and Rina Ozawa is sculpted! As for the new we’ve got Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan (no surprise there), Makoto Naegi from Dangan Ronpa (who is only kind of new because we’ve seen him before), Saber Alter, Tomoko Kuroki from Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera, and Sakura Mai from Photokanon. But don’t worry, I’m sure they’ve got 20 other new Nendos to show off at the event. [via Mikatan]
