Winter WonFest 2018: MegaHouse’s Blastoise

Nothing warms my heart more than figures that make me relive the best parts of my childhood. Well, those and cats. And dogs. And really good pie. But, for the context of this post, we’re talking about nostalgia. So far MegaHouse has really knocked the nostalgia-train out of the park with Sailor Moon, Digimon, and of course Pokemon!

Tonight they unveiled the sculpt for a big ol’ Blastoise, aka the best of the original starters. Fite me. Oh and Gary Oak is there too, but who cares about that dweeb amirite?

We were all excited about who was coming next: Misty? Brock? Someone from a newer gen? Well, it’s… Red again! I know, right. What a shock. GSC giving us a slightly different, but improved, version of a figure. For (probably) more money and also it’s limited + exclusive. Of course.

I mean, it is pretty cool: we get the final evolutions of the starters instead of their stage 1 versions. Still no Pikachu, but snazzy nonetheless. The only question is, how will this be available? If it’s like the other 3, it won’t be that hard to obtain overseas. And the box does have the Pokemon Center logo on it, so that seems likely. But Wonder Festival is coming up, so I wouldn’t be that surprised if Red was one of their event exclusives.

[UPDATE] He’ll be available exclusively at the Pokemon Center!

[via Pokemon]

Level Up With Pokemon Nendoroid Red, Champion Edition

The Pokemon Nendoroid line has been moving along pretty steadily: we got Red, Cynthia, and N. We were all excited about who was coming next: Misty? Brock? Someone from a newer gen? They’ve been working on their Pokemon S.H.Figuarts line for years now, even though it seems to have come to a halt recently, and you’d really think this would be the first character they chose. But no, we got quite a few Pokemon and no Pikachu! Finally, that terrible wrong will be righted.

Pikachu looks super adorable, if a little chunky, here. Of course the joints are a bit distracting (to me, at least), but we know that he’ll come with some good accessories! Or some extra faces, at the very least, which is always nice. They also showed off some of the older ones (Charizard, Blastoise, Venasaur, Mewtwo) with new effect parts. Re-release on the horizon, or will they release them separately?

[via 1up]
