  • We have already seen Good Smile’s Fate/Stay Night and Vocaloid scaled figures, but of course they had a lot more. And I do mean a LOT. We are going to dive right in because there’s a lot to cover, starting with painted figures. Emilia from Re:Zero, Akari Kawamoto from March Comes In Like A Lion, Mythra from Xenoblade Chronices 2, HOT LIMIT Eriri Spencer, and the terrifying Antarc from Land of the Lustrous are all finished and nearly ready for orders. For new sculpts we have Shuvi from No Game No Life Zero, the winged Kanade Tachibana, Altair from re:CREATORS, Shopping Mode Haruna from KanColle, and the lovely Wedding Louise. Now for the biggest category: announcements! We have two super throwback ones in a new Lacia from BEATLESS (remember the OG?) and Black Rock Shooter Inexhaustible Version. We’ll be getting a new Cardcaptor Sakura, a Shopping Mode Kashima, a swimsuit Michiru Hyodo, Hifumi Takimoto, Siluca from Record of Grancrest War, and…. Kizuna Ai, because we need more bizarre pop culture figures. [via whl4u]

  • It’s really hard for me to not get overly excited about Cardcaptor Sakura merchandise. It’s like Sailor Moon: the ten-year-old girl in me just goes apeshit. I tried really hard to temper my expectations for GSC’s Sakura after we saw the sculpt: I mean, it was a thing of beauty, but it’s important to not get too excited! And sadly it seemed like I was right when we saw her painted… but maybe it was the event lighting? I’m so torn about this figure. I think Sakura herself looks amazing: the sculpt is so crisp and the colors perfectly bright. I mean, just look at the floofy skirt! Perfection! But I really dislike the base. It looks kind of cheap to me, too much perfectly clear PVC and it’s just a lil too elaborate (my problem with MF Sheryl as well). It’s hard to focus on Sakura! And she’s going to cost like $300 so it’s not something I want to compromise on. Thankfully, there will be a standard version that’s just the figure! Of course at ¥12k it still costs and arm and a leg but I greatly prefer the simplicity of that one. [via Kahotan]

  • I was over the moon when Good Smile Company announced a scaled figure of Sakura. One of my favorite anime heroines in the crazy detail we’ve come to expect from GSC? Yes please. I was cautiously optimistic about the sculpt: it looked great, but the concept art had some strange color choices. I wanted to pass judgment only when we’d seen the finished piece. Well she was at Anime Expo so that time has arrived! And let’s just pray the lighting there was really bad because I am not wowed by this. The colors look as weird as I imagined, and the totally clear wings are an… odd choice. If they were even slightly tinted I think they’d look less cheap. But I know event lighting is usually just terrible so I am still hopeful that the official shots will be stunning! [via mfc]

  • I will admit that when I first heard about Nendoroid Co-De, I thought it was just a money-grab, a way to make basically unfinished and accessory-less Nendoroids and still get us to pay. Well, it’s high time I admitted I was terribly wrong. Co-De has given us some amazingly cute alternate outfits, and it’s kind of like a “Nendo wardrobe.” And who better fits that description than Sakura, who had a new outfit basically every episode? We’ve known for a while that Sakura would be getting some Co-De outfits, and I kind of expected them to pop up at Wonder Festival. But here we are, with them fully painted! We’ve got her cat outfit (my favorite of all her getups) and her jester-style dress from the second OP. So cute!! I need them both. [via Kahotan’s Twitter]

  • Welcome to what is apparently Cardcaptor Sakura day on Plastikitty! Boy do we have a lot of Sakura-related news for you today, phew. So let’s get right on it! Kotobukiya’s first Sakura (review) is a figure near and dear to my heart, and while I guess I’d be fine owning one scaled figure of her there’s no such thing as “too much Sakura.” So of course I’m very excited by their new announcement! They’ll be doing a second figure of her, this time of the white & pink dress. Which, of course, also has wings! I wonder if they’ll be going with the pose in the art they showed, or something a bit more dynamic? [via mfc]

  • I have been waiting with bated breath for Good Smile Company’s scaled figure of Sakura Kinomoto for what feels like ages now. Sure, Nendoroids and figmas and figFIX are good and all, but I’m a scaled figure girl at heart. And I was hoping for something spectacular from them, along the lines of Belldandy and Benten. And boy oh boy did they deliver. They’ve given us a huge, elaborate figure of everyone’s favorite Cardcaptor. Wings and ruffles and crowns, oh my! I don’t even want to think about what her price will be (or if she will be exclusive to the GSC store) because my want right now is so very high. Just look! Magical. [via Kahota & taitanno]

  • We went so long without Cardcaptor figures that it almost feels surreal to finally have one in my hands. I mean, when the prize figure announcements started coming in I tamed my excitement. It’s just prize figures, right? But then we got announcements like the figma and Kotobukiya’s Sakura scaled figure (review), and the floodgates were open. And, thankfully, we’re not just getting figures of the girls. Because, come on, the second main character is a boy! And while it seems like most companies have been neglecting Syaoran, Kotobukiya of course did not. Cause they know the importance of boy figures. Hit the jump and let’s get started!

  • Wonder Festival is a little over 24 hours away, and you know what that means–time for the traditional roundup of the garage kits that will be available at the event! Well, obviously not all of them, because there are hundreds. And a lot of them are terrible. So we go through and weed out the best/most interesting of the bunch to bring to you! This year there is a whole, whole lot of Kantai Collection. Even more than at Winter Wonder Festival! There’s also, no surprise, a ton of Sailor Moon figures since the license is open. Though there’s a surprising lack of Cardcaptor Sakura. We also have the traditional batch of kits from Cerberus Project and T’s System, along with tons tons more from franchises like Dark Souls, Evangelion, Vocaloid, and Monster Hunter. Check them all out after the jump! And like always, kits are labeled with their circle so if you happen to be at WonFest, you can snatch them up. [via Grizzry Panda, RyunRyunTei, wallaby0819, Project CK, Cherry Blossom, Amie Grand, doat, T’s System, fg-site, Crea Mode, Reply From…, Snow Cat, Fixia, Windflower, Ryoheifull, Tinami, Akimof8, Yamonyamon, Metalbox, 3x3x3]

  • While Bandai didn’t give us the most detailed action figure so far of Sakura Kinomoto (that honor goes to the figma), they had the distinction of being first on the scene–a title they’re not willing to give up. At this past Winter Wonder Festival they showed off a second S.H.Figuarts of her, this time in her outfit from the second opening–the same outfit that PLUM put their adorable scaled figure of her in! It took them a little while to get her ready for orders, especially considering that she was painted 3 months ago, but she’s finally here! People seem divided on her poofy pants, but I like this version better than the first one. She will retail for ¥5500 with an October release, and thankfully will be a standard release.
