Cryska Barchenowa Archive

  • If you follow us on Twitter, you might have noticed that we’ve been teasing an upcoming contest! We have been meaning to get some up and running for a while, but due to time and staff constraints it’s been a work in progress. Trust me, running a site with two people is a lot harder than we originally assumed it would be. But finally, our first official contest is here! And if just so happens that it’s our second birthday, so we decided to kick things off with a bang. Last year you could contribute to the site, but this time we’re giving back–and giving something big. That’s right, no prize figures or blind boxes here. We’re giving away a full scale figure of Kotobukiya’s Cryska Barchenowa Plugsuit Edition, who we recently reviewed! And it is not the one we took out and rolled around in the grass. Oh no, this is a pristine, shiny, not even opened Cryska. And there are 3 different ways to win her! The first is easy–just leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite figure is, and why! We’ll be revealing the other 2 ways to get entries in the contest next week, once the Wonder Festival madness has died down. [UPDATE] Want a second contest entry? Then follow us on Twitter and retweet this tweet (you must do both to qualify!)! Yes, it’s that simple! And we are still accepting comment entries as well, so don’t worry if this is your first time seeing this post! [UPDATE 2] Need another entry? Simply like us on Facebook and comment on this post following the instructions! We are also accepting entries for methods 1 and 2, but the winner will be selected at the end of the week. Good luck, everyone! [FINAL UPDATE] Congratulations to our winner, Stefanie Brignac! Cryska will be on her way to you in the very near future! [Note: This contest is open to all countries! Be sure to use your real email when you comment, as that is what we’ll be contacting the winner through. I’d also like to note that originally I hoped to respond to everyone’s comments, but you guys have overwhelmed us! Suffice to say, we totally love you all!]

  • For some reason, I am totally enamored with the Muv-Luv girls. It’s probably a combination of the cool color schemes, sleek plugsuits and pretty hair. So far they have taken on 4 of the girls from the franchise: Yui, who came out earlier this year, Cryska (who we are obviously taking a look at today!), Inia, who will be out at the end of summer, and Meiya, who is actually from a different Muv-Luv anime than the trio. Of the original threesome I think Cryska is my favorite, despite one big issue I have with her character design. What could that be, you ask? Well let’s hit the jump and dive on in!

  • Yes, cuter than Append Rin & Len, or even Cheerful Saber & Rin! Maybe it’s my weakness for the Muv-Luv girls talking, but I am smitten by this newest duo. It’s probably also the fact that unlike a lot of recent Nendoroids (and figmas) these ladies come with a lot of goodies: but we’ll get to that in a second! First, let’s tlak about how awesome they look. From the soft gradient in their purple hair to the shiny plugsuits, they’ve done a fantastic job recreating their anime appearance. Now for the goodies! Both come with cockpits and of course some creepy/cute Beta pals, much like the first Muv-Luv Nendoroid Yui Takamura. They’re so strange looking! Inia will also come with her teddy bear, and Cryska has a sniper rifle. As for faces they actually only have two, but they’re a doozy: there’s the “standard” ones and then… insane faces! Yes, these are on par with “swan song” and the amazing Hibiki face. But as you may recall, Yui had a pretty scary/amazing bloody face as well, so it’s no surprise this duo has creepy faces as well! They’ll be up for order on the 16th. [via Mikatan]

  • I usually don’t do more than one gallery per a figure. If we posted every color sample that came up, our site would be flooded with figures we’ve all seen a dozen times over! But sometimes a gallery pops up that we just can’t resist. Sure, we already did an extra gallery for Cryska Barchenowa along with her promotional shots, but I’m so enamored with this figure that I just can’t get enough! Everything about this piece is stunning. The face, the coloring, the pose, the sculpt. I know that Kotobukiya is not considered a top-tier manufacturer (mostly because of past work which seems counterproductive to me) but this could seriously be a figure from Max Factory or Alter. It’s just perfection! Kotobukiya’s entire Muv-Luv line has been fantastic so far, and I really can’t wait for the two new sculpts they showed off at Wonder Festival. [via Danny Choo]

  • I have officially overdosed on Nendoroids. Do you know how many there were at Wonder Festival? 38. THIRTY FREAKING EIGHT. Over 40, counting the petits. So we’re just going to dive right in: all of the teasers are here, Chariot, Monokuma (and his pink counterpart Monomi), Hitagi, Shizue, Sheryl (and a matching Ranka), Tsukiko (petit and full sized), Rin Natsume and Darth Wooser. As far as BRS goes, we also have a full Strength and Petits of BRS herself, Strength, Black Gold Saw and Chariot. The next Touhou Nenodoroid is Aya Shameimaru, and unsurprisingly Akane Isshiki will be getting a full Nendoroid and a Petit along with Rei Kuroki. Nozomu Itoshiki is getting a second version, which seems a little weird! Then we have Inia and Cryska from Muv-Luv, a new set of Vocaloid petits, Sasami Tsukuyomi, Misaka Mikoto, Charles Yoshino, Tooka Yagotami, Cecilia Alcott, Akane Tsunemori, Maou, Tia, Amy, Ricca Morizono, Miyuki Takano, Alice Kuji, a petit of Rachel Alucard, more Nanoha and Aegis. PHEW! Check them all out in the gallery. [via GSC]

  • It’s no secret that I am totally in love with Kotobukiya’s Muv-Luv Alternative line, especially the gorgeously aloof Cryska Barchenowa. She’s just so pretty! Not to mention that purple and blue together is one of my favorite color schemes, and her cool demeanor perfectly fits the shades they went with. Also, she’s just so shiny! We’ve got a new gallery of this beauty, including a shot demonstrating how her base will link up with the lovely Yui Takamura. I cannot wait until we get the third member of the trio, Inia! • Muv-Luv is definitely having its day in the sun. Tons of scaled figures, Nendoroids, and of course figmas for the main 3 girls. We’ve seen Yui Takamura’s figma, and now it’s time for the icy beauty Cryska! As you’d expect she looks great, with a sleek sculpt and a gorgeous color palette, along with her faithfully rendered plugsuit. As is the trend with Max Factory, she comes with pretty much nothing: there’s a gun and an extra blushing fce. yup, that’s it. I don’t know why they slack off so much nowadays, but it’s a frustrating trend. Cryska will retail for ¥3,500 with a June release, and expect orders tonight. The third girl, Inia, actually doesn’t have an announced figma yet but I assume we’ll see one at WonFest. [via the figma blog]

  • Right after the beautiful Cryska figure from Kotobukiya, we’re seeing her figma fully painted! We actually just got the reveal of the sculpt, guess they painted her mighty fast. She looks as great as you’d expect, with a soft color palette and a sufficiently annoyed expression. These plugsuit designs are just so great, I am totally fine with endless versions of the characters. We got 3 Yuis at once (figure, figma, Nendoroid), so I wonder if we’ll be seeing the Cryska Nendo soon? [via max_machida]

  • [Editor’s Note: You may have noticed that the PVC Pre-Order Roundup went missing for a few weeks. Due to medical reasons and the bustle of the holiday season we were unable to put in the large amount of time this feature takes. After all, it’s just two of us! But now we’re back for the last roundup for 2012.] This was an absolutely spectacular week for figures. While we were all being generally lazy, opening presents and cooking elaborate dinners Japan was saving up the best pre-orders of 2012 for last. I mean, Mistral and Insane Black Rock Shooter in the same week?! Not to mention the gorgeous Cryska, along with many other pretty ladies. Hit the jump to check them all out!
