Cu-Poche Archive

  • Kotobukiya had a lot of nice surprises at MegaHobby. The first is the lovely sculpt from Yuri on Ice’s Victor, which wile not as dynamic as MegaHouse’s is a lot more appealing to me personally. Then they had two of their super cute Pokemon gals out & about. I need all of them! They also had Sagiri Izumi from Ero Manga-sensei, along with an announcement for Elf Yamada. We’ve also got Cu-Poche Rem & Ram, Aiz Wallenstein, and more. Check them out after the jump and let us know what you are looking forward to! [via AmiAmi Twitter & Dengeki]

  • Kotobukiya’s action figure Cu-Poche line has been booming lately. It seems like only yesterday that we were photographing the Dark Magician Girl Cu-Poche, but it was almost 4 years ago! Time sure flies when you’re getting old, amirite? Today we are looking at Sebastian from Black Butler, everyone’s favorite demon housekeeper. Sebastian is one of those few male characters who manages to cling onto popularity long after his first hit the figure scene. In fact, Koto even did a scaled figure of him a short while back! But how will this handsome lil devil hold up in chibi form? Hit the jump and let’s find out!

  • Another day, another event in Japan! This time around it’s Anime Japan 2017, a smaller event that only a handful of companies attend. But they still had quite a few new goodies to show us. Re:Zero seemed to be the real star here: Rem & Ram have figures from Good Smile Company, and Rem is getting a Cu-Poche. Kemono Friends also proved to be quite popular, with the Nendoroid reveal of Serval and a figma announcement for her too. There were, of course, many Nendoroids out on display. Li Syaoran is sculpted and so cute! We had a few new announements from Kotobukiya too, like a scaled figure of Aiz Wallenstein from Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Gaiden: Sword Oratoria. Why with these names, Japan. Aiz had a fully painted surprise figure from Genco out & about too. Check them out and much more in the gallery! [via Kahotan & Dengeki]

  • We have seen two of Kotobukiya’s most exciting Wonder Festival announcements (new Pokemon and Cowboy Bebop), but I don’t think anything could prepare me for the exciting boy-figure-flood that was about to happen. Not only did they have Spike on display and their sculpted Atem, but we’re getting a brand new Lelouch from Code Black!! Thank you figure Jesus. We are blessed this day. And that’s not all (obviously)! So much new stuff, like an adorable Madoka, High School Fleet figures, Type-Moon’s Heroine X, a bunny-tastic Airi Totoki, Sebastian Cu-Poche, and a sculpted Velvet Crowe. We also have a few announcements! They’ll be doing another Tony Taka butterfly sister (who looks suspiciously like Miku), Vira from Granblue Fantasy, and RyuuZU from Clockwork Planet. • It’s been quite a while since we got new Yu-Gi-Oh related news from Kotobukiya. It was all quiet on the western front, which is unfortunate because it seemed like lots of other companies were taking on the license… but none of their figures looked quite as nice as that original Kotobukiya line. Well, never fear card game fans, because we have 3 new announcements today! The first are for the Cu-Poche line, joining their Dark Magician Girl Cu-Poche. We’ll be getting Yami Yugi, the first ever male Cu-Poche (!!), and Gagaga Girl (who is one of the many DMG variants). Then we’ll be getting a scaled figure of Atem, which is a real surprise! I wonder if they’ll be doing more of the ancient Egyptian cast? [via Maxut]

  • My least-favorite part of Wonder Festival (besides the crippling stress of actually covering the event) is the teasers. There are just… a lot of them, from every company, and it’s so much news! Plus it gives away some of the surprises. One of these in particular I would much rather have seen at WonFest and been like “wow, what the hell?” But alas, here we are. Anyway, we have a couple art-based announcements: Bishoujo Edward Scissorhands, Pokemon Trainer Red, and… Bishoujo Chucky?!?! Yup, she’s the newest Horror Bishoujo! We also have the painted sculpt for their KanColle Hibiki and the Cu-Poche Verniy, and a ton of totally new “announcements.” We’ll be getting a figure of Sakura Shinguji from Sakura Wars (AW YIS), Anna Mochizuki from IM@S Million Live!, and Danua from Granblue Fantasy. Phew, that’s a lot of stuff! [via Kotobukiya]

  • Kotobukiya loves Wonder Festival teasers more than perhaps any company other than Good Smile, but they like to give them to us nice and slow. Like, 3 at a time. Over a week. Meaning this is the first of probably 3 batches. And we’re getting… 3! It’s like a holy trinity of teasing. Today, it’s mostly Shingeki no Bahamut action: we have a teaser for the sculpt of the announced Vania, and also a brand-new girl. It’s Mystery Warden Spinne! Who, you ask? Don’t ask me, I just work here. This is what she looks like. Pretty cute, right? We also have a Cu-Poche teaser for Hibiki from KanColle. [via Koto’s Blog]

  • When Kotobukiya showed off some art of a Cu-Poche Hestia that was “just a concept” and “not for a real figure” I was 99.9% sure it WAS for a real figure, just not approved yet. I mean, Hestia is hot shit right now, and they already have a scaled figure of her. And lo and behold, Cu-Poche Hestia is indeed a reality! It seems they were waiting until she was sculpted to show her off. Man, can you believe they beat GSC to this one? Kind of shocking. In a clever move, they’ve shown her off in video form form so you can see how the ribbon will work in real-life with her action figure parts. I’m not a Hestia fan but I like how they’re doing this release: let’s see how she turns out painted! [via Kotobukiya’s Twitter]

  • Kotobukiya jumped on the DanMachi hype train before any other company: they’ve already teased a sculpt of Hestia, and the show’s still airing! And much like Good Smile and their Nendoroids, Kotobukiya’s been picking their more popular PVC girls to add to the Cu-Poche line. So it makes sense that we’d be getting a tiny, poseable Hestia, right? However, this isn’t an official announcement! It’s an “unofficial” mockup from… Koto’s official Twitter. I think they’re testing the waters: do people want this? Would it be popular? And while this isn’t confirmation that we’ll 100% be getting Hestia, I think it’s very very likely! • Are you sensing the theme of this Miyazawa Model Exhibition? It’s Check Out This Stuff You’ve Already Seen. Because seriously, Kotobukiya’s lineup is almost identical to what we saw at Anime Japan… and most of that wasn’t even new. I was hoping we’d get a peek at Hestia‘s sculpt, but alas, it’s just super cute (but redundant) IDOLM@STER and KanColle girls. Honestly, I feel like that’s the joke at every booth. “Look, IM@S and KanColle!” There is, at least, a pretty cute CuPoche display… I mean, the raincoats. So adorable! [via Akibahobby]
