Last week was a holiday in Japan, so we had almost no pre-orders aside from figma Nanoha and the AlphaMax Nanoha! But don’t fear, we’re back in business this week! There are quite a few boys this time around, both new and old. While we have no figmas Good Smile makes up for it with three Nendoroids, as well as some cute smaller figures from their umbrella companies. Then, of course, we have the girls: tall girls, tiny girls, ghost girls, they’re all in here, so hit the jump and let’s get started!

We sure have seen a lot of Nendoroid Mirai recently–she got a big preview from Danny Choo, and then some of her accessories were revealed. At this point we know absolutely everything she comes with: three expressions (regular, moekana, big smiling), her robot friend Retrokyu, the Japanese flag, Moekana cards (a full set!), and last but not least a little car!
Which means the only new thing in this Mikatan preview is the face-swapping with Mikumix, which is indeed pretty hilarious. I am still wondering what her pricing is going to be like, since Mirai comes with so much stuff! Now I guess we just have to wait for release info (she goes up on the 23rd), and see if they make the other Mirai Millenium Nendoroids.

While Nendoroid Mirai isn’t exactly my favorite figure, but as we’ve seen she is going to come with some nice extras to make up for the dullness of her design. First off, her Moekana face has been completed, and while it’s not the most original it’s pretty darn cute! We already know what her 3rd face will be: a smiling blushing face similar to Support Miku. It also seems like she now has the updated less yandere face that Danny Choo has previewed before.
As for accessories, well, she comes with a LOT. There’s her little robot buddy Retrokyu, the Moekana flashcards, a Japanese flag, and… a car! So I guess she’s prone to racing. I think including all of these extras is a pretty smart move, since it’ll draw in people who wouldn’t otherwise want her. On the other hand, that car is going to jack up the price a lot. Hopefully she isn’t too expensive! Given that the box is already done, it shouldn’t be long until we know her pricing and release date.

At Wonder Festival we got our first full look at Nendoroid Mirai, who I’ve voiced my displeasure with in the past. And indeed, she looked decidedly odd at the event, like she’d woken up with tiny pupils and put on way too much eye makeup. However, thankfully for fans Danny Choo himself has asked for some changes to be made, and the final faces will indeed be different! However, all the images in the gallery (aside from one of the “fixed” face) are of the pre-fixing Mirai.
You know, I really wish they had gone with her battle uniform or whatever it is. I am getting so tired of bland schoolgirl Nendoroids, and the lack of shading here isn’t helping. She does come with a little robot fox thing named Retrokyu, which is a bit of a redeeming factor, along with some tiny moekana cards. I am definitely going to need to see the alternate faces and other accessories before I make a final decision on this one: right now she’s decidedly dull.

There are always a ridiculous number of Nendoroids at Wonder Festival, so many that posting then in individual posts would probably take days. So instead we’re going to bring you roundups! First, the anime & manga-based Nendos. We already showed you the BRS Nendoroids, but there’s a whole lot more, though honestly I don’t find this batch as exciting as last WonFest’s.
First up we’ve got the girls in Mikatan’s teaser, Hakase and Akari! Then there are a few Nendos we knew about that are now painted/sculpted: Erica Hartmann, Mirai, Leonmitchelli Galette des Rois, and Kanna Tanigawa. As for new announcements, I find them a bit underwhelming. We’ve got Frau Koujirou and Akiho Senomiya from Robotics;Notes, Yuno from Hidamari Sketch, and Sakai Wakana from Tari Tari. Personally, I’m most excited by the 3 Muv-Luv girls: Cryska Barchenowa is sculpted, Inia Sestina is in art-form, and Yui Takamura is only an announcement, but I think pluguits are a nice change of pace for the Nendo world!

There are quite a few things in the figure world that I hate, but I try to keep rants to a minimum on the site. Today, however, I am going to make an exception, as I have extra hate reserved for Danny Choo’s boring mascot Mirai Suenaga. You know, that girl he had drawn for his site with the most boring design in the history of anime girls who is popular because… um, I’m honestly not really sure. Certainly it’s not the design or the convoluted backstory, I think Mirai is simply popular by virtue of being Danny Choo’s mascot. He’s an otaku god to many people, so I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised that Mirai is getting so much attention. I do, however, wish that she looked even a tiny bit original.
So we’ve known for a while that we’d be getting Nendoroids of all 3 of his “mascots” since apparently that’s something people need. And now, Max Factory is going to be making a scaled figure of her as well. I find this news rather depressing as it means one of my favorite companies is going to be wasting its resources on this…. but then again, Mirai’s wormed her way into everything from anime no one cares about to the Soniko game (giving it a delay of several months). This is an inevitable occurrence, but certainly not one that I am pleased with.
[UPDATE] We now have images of the 3 Nendo faces Mirai will come with! I have to say, two of them are SO cute. The smiling one is reminiscent of Support Miku. If they come out as cute as they look here… I might bite the bullet and go for this (or at least enter a split!). She’s slated for a Winter 2012 release. [via mfc]

I’m going to be very blunt here–I really dislike Danny Choo’s insipid mascot Mirai. I have nothing against Danny Choo himself, but Mirai… yeah, I kind of hate the entire concept. She has no substance and it’s a painfully boring design, and worst of all she’s popular for absolutely no reason. Danny Choo picked her, and that’s literally it. After her popularity started spiking he came up with a stupidly complicated backstory involving time-travel and boobs. Now, she’s got an anime, a game, apparently a card game, a figma, and…. three Nendoroids.
That’s right, Danny Choo’s entire cast is getting the Nendoroid treatment! Just what everyone wants, right? Boring mascots instead of, say, the Disgaea Nendoroids to actually go into production? Kanata, Haruka and Mirai are ALL getting Nendoroids, so you can look forward to even more boring schoolgirl Nendoroids.
So, now that my bitter rant is out of the way let’s look on the bright side. It seems like they come with some cute expressions, unless these aren’t going to be included on the final one, and we can at least hope for some spiffy accessories. And hey, it must be pretty cool to get your designs made as figures.
