  • Prize figures have always been appealing: you get a cheap version of a popular character, often in an outfit that we’d never see in scales. Plus, the quality gets better and better on them every year. With rising scaled figure prices and a worsening exchange rate, prize figures are looking better than ever, so it’s a good thing the upcoming lineup of them seems amazing! We have all the regulars out and about: Evangelion, Kantai Collection, Sword Art Online, Fate/Grand Order, Bakemonogatari, Miku, Lupin, and many many more. The noodle topper ones really seem to be taking the prize world by storm: I have a few and can vouch for how amazingly fun they are to display all sorts of odd ways. Any of them catch your eye? • Morrigan Aensland is one of those characters who you’d think would get more figures. After all, one of the rarest ones in the world is of her: the elusive Max Factory version, which will cost you $500 if you’re very lucky. Two years ago we got a pretty lackluster figure of her from Capcom, and now they’re at it again! Hopefully with higher quality. This time we’re getting a nurse version of her. And while I am dubious about the quality, it’s gonigto be the same sculptor that did Max Factory’s Morrigan and also Solange (and, you know, Capcom’s terrible Morrigan…) so I’m trying to keep my hopes up because the art looks fantastic. • So, we all know that Capcom’s Morrigan is pretty terrible. We saw the art, we got excited, and then… it was a disappointment. I’d prefer to never see this damn figure again because it breaks my heart every time. But no, they had to do a recolor contest where people voted on an exciting second version. The white one won. And somehow, it’s even worse than the original! Oh, and it’s an exclusive. If you really, really want her… you can go get her at Big In Japan. Or Capcom directly if you have a different preferred proxy. Blah.

  • There are a lot of game franchises so, obviously, there are a lot of game-related kits at Wonder Festival. And because they seem to be some of the most popular, they also get some of the very best sculpts. We have a truly impressive array this time around: Touhou Project, the Fate franchise, Persona, Tera, Monster Hunter, Guilty Gear, and so much more! Check them out in the gallery and let us know which ones you’re dying to own~ [via fg-site, Volks, Tukiniouragawa, T’s System, ques Q, Spare Tail, Tinami, Cerberus Project, Plastic Garden, Windflower]

  • I bet you were sitting there thinking to yourself, “wow, you know that figure of Morrigan that Capcom is making that turned out to be a huge, huge disappointment and ruined my entire life forever? I sure do wish they’d make EVEN MORE VERSIONS of that right away!” Me too, buddy. Me too. And now they are! Because obviously, fans are so thrilled with the first one that we just can’t friggin wait for more colors. We’re overwhelmed with excitement. And now we get to decide on the second colorway! What will it be? A Lilith swap? Blonde and drugged-looking? Grey hair and drugged-looking? Blue hair and drugged-looking? I am overwhelmed with choices. Plus, you know, the voting page is in Japanese and I can barely read kanji. Thanks, Capcom. I feel so loved and appreciated as a fan.

  • Remember how excited we all were when a new figure of Morrigan was announced? And then the sculpt was revealed, and while it wasn’t issue-free (chunky hair, weird boobs), it still looked pretty damn good. Well, prepare to be disappointed, because the final painted prototype has a lovely case of derp-face. There are actually some lovely things about this figure. I adore the gradient hair (though the sculpting on that part reminds me of a prize figure), the pose is very unique, and they knocked it out of the park on her wings. But there is hardly any shading on her outfit, the face is laughable, and her breasts just look… odd. Sigh. I honestly wish this was a Max Factory figure retailing for a much higher price rather than one produced by Capcom for under 10k. Morrigan is priced at ¥9200 with a September release. She will be a standard run. [via Capcom & moeyo]

  • When we found out about the new Morrigan figure, we also found out that she apparently had a September release date. So I assumed she was all finished and they were just waiting on the big reveal. Apparently not, because we are just seeing the sculpt now! And, you know, we still don’t know who is producing her (but my money is on Max Factory). While blank figure faces always look kind of weird and she’s on an awkward temporary base, I really love the direction this is going in. No floating boobs! Succubus wings! Tons of hair movements! Hopefully the paint lives up to the massive hype this figure has generated. [via Capcom]
