Toy Fair 2018: Kotobukiya’s Harley Quinn and Joker ArtFX+ Gallery
Posted by Stephen Donaldson on February 17, 2018 | No CommentsWell, this was an unexpected, yet pleasant addition today at Toy Fair! Following up on the Batman from the Batman: The Animated Series ArtFX+, we’re now getting Harley Quinn and The Joker as well! I really love how the Harley here captures her more playful side from the show as opposed to the hyper sexualized versions we’ve been getting lately due to Suicide Squad, and The Joker has his iconic purple suit and massive grin, which I will always love in any form. The pair are both quite nice looking and are, honestly, must haves for any fans of the iconic show.

Toy Fair 2018: Kotobukiya’s Red Robin Ikemen Gallery
Posted by Stephen Donaldson on February 17, 2018 | No CommentsEarlier today we gave some updates on Kotobukiya’s Ikemen line and later, at Toy Fair, we got to take a close look at the Red Robin sculpt. I’m not gonna lie, every time I see this figure it looks like if a KPop star moonlighted as Red Hood, which, honestly is exactly what we all wanted out of this line and I really dig it. Red Hood’s abs are on full display here, as is the signature butt, which many fans were also looking for from a male version of a bishoujo line. I’m also really liking that Red Robin has three different head options, which elevates this figure that’s just “standing there” to new levels. Now to see what happens with the rest of the Robins!

Toy Fair 2018: Kotobukiya’s Ikemen Line
Posted by Leah Bayer on February 17, 2018 | 1 CommentSo far Kotobukiya’s Ikemen line has given us a butt-tastic Nightwing and a less provocative but equally cool Red Hood. We knew they’d be doing all of the bat-boys, so it’s no surprise that we got a look at the art for two more of them at Toy Fair: Damian Wayne and Red Robin!
I really appreciate that they went with a cute, sassy pose for Damian since… you know, he’s underage and all. He looks ready to angst it up! I’m not quite as sold on Red Robin yet because the face looks a bit different from the rest of the line, but I’m sure it will all come together once he is sculpted!

Kotobukiya’s Ikemen Red Hood Is Up For Order
Posted by Leah Bayer on January 24, 2018 | 3 CommentsIt has been quite some time since Kotobukiya originally announced the Ikemen line, an all-male companion to the lovely Bishoujos. But my interest has only increased with the long wait, especially once we got to see the beautiful & bootylicious Nightwing. Finally, fanservice for all! We knew Red Hood was next and I’ve been eagerly anticipating him because who doesn’t want a hot psychopath in their collection?
Well, the time has finally arrived! Red Hood is here and ready to sass up your collection! He comes with not one but three faces: regular, the hood (of course), and a special first-release masked head. So fancy! He retails for ¥8,800 and will hit shelves in June in Japan, though like most of Kotobukiya’s figures he is getting an official US release. Are you guys excited for the Ikemen line? And who would you like to see once they’ve gone through all the Robins?

NYCC 2017: Kotobukiya’s DC Comics Figures
Posted by Leah Bayer on October 9, 2017 | 1 CommentFinally, it has happened. We’ve know about Kotobukiya’s Ikemen line for a while, and in fact Nightwing has been finished for quite some time, but I have been counting down the hours until I got to see him in person. And it was glorious. Just look at that butt! They didn’t even neglect the bulge ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I am all about equal opportunity sexy figures.
Oh, they had more than Nightwing in their DC section, though! A lot, actually. The star for me was the huge ArtFX Wonder Woman who is just… so beautiful. Dead-on likeness for Gal. They also had a ton of ArtFX+ figures, both the Justice League line and the TV show line. And many Bishoujos, of course! Hit the jump to see them all in action.

Check Out The Figures At The 49th Prize Fair
Posted by Leah Bayer on September 6, 2017 | 1 CommentPrize figures have always been appealing: you get a cheap version of a popular character, often in an outfit that we’d never see in scales. Plus, the quality gets better and better on them every year. With rising scaled figure prices and a worsening exchange rate, prize figures are looking better than ever, so it’s a good thing the upcoming lineup of them seems amazing!
We have all the regulars out and about: Evangelion, Kantai Collection, Sword Art Online, Fate/Grand Order, Bakemonogatari, Miku, Lupin, and many many more. The noodle topper ones really seem to be taking the prize world by storm: I have a few and can vouch for how amazingly fun they are to display all sorts of odd ways. Any of them catch your eye?

Fly Away With Kotobukiya’s DC Bishoujo Supergirl
Posted by Leah Bayer on August 31, 2017 | 3 CommentsI am not the biggest fan of Supergirl, it’s true. I find her a little bland and, well… like Superman, who is possibly my least-favorite hero. But even I can appreciate how amazingly beautiful Kotobukiya’s second take on her has turned out! This is a figure I wasn’t really sold on until I saw the sculpt, and then we only had badly lit event shots of her, so my hopes were not too high. But hot damn did they pull out a beautiful figure.
I think in terms of detail and accuracy, this is probably Kotobukiya’s best Bishoujo yet. I mean, just look at the promo shots of her! Gorgeous. Like basically all of the modern Bishes she is a mere ¥8,500 and will be released in February. Will she be flying into any of your collections?

Summer WonFest 2017: Bishoujo Supergirl
Posted by Leah Bayer on July 29, 2017 | 4 CommentsUsually we don’t get any Bishoujo updates from Kotobukiya at Japanese events, especially when said Bishoujo was just sculpted at SDCC a few weeks ago. But here we are, with a fully painted Bishoujo ver 2 Supergirl out and about at Wonder Festival! Who would have guessed?
