@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Well folks, I have good news and bad news. The good news: we have updates on the dolls that will be at Dolpa 30! There will be a DD of Erica Fontaine from Sakura Wars (more specifically, Sakura Taisen: Ecloe de Paris), who will be retailing for ¥64,050. Like Sakura, she comes with a fighting outfit that will retail for ¥15,540. She’s an M bust with normal skin. Then there’s Yaya from Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai, a surprising choice given how little we’ve seen in the figure world from this show! Yaya is a bit less than Erica, coming in at ¥59,850.
And now… the bad news. Volks is finally making a Belldandy doll, but as you might have guessed from the header… this is not a Dollfie Dream, but a Super Dollfie. Which means 1) it’s not as true to the anime style as a DD and 2) she costs more. At ¥120,750 you better have a stash of cash tucked away under the bed for her! Thankfully I don’t like SDs very much so this is a clear pass for me… in fact, this whole Dolpa feels kind of “meh” aside from the (disappointing) Bell announcement. Ah well, there’s always the next event! Plus I’m also on a DD diet.

It’s been a while since we saw the last Touhou Dollfie Dream–Cirno, over a year ago! I was hoping the next one would be Yukari Yakumo or one of her minions, but I’m disappointed (but not surprised) to find out that it’s Youmu Konpaku. Honestly I’m not really a Youmu fan, since she has one of the blander designs, but I also find the Touhou Dollfies impossibly hard to get so I’m actually glad this isn’t a “must-get” for me!

If you’ve been keeping up with the news on Dollfie Dream Miku Hatsune, her alternate outfit shouldn’t come as a big shock: after all, we got a sneak peek at it when she was first announced! It’s Senbonzakura, one of my favorite versions of her (which funnily enough just got a figure announced at WonFest… though I’m thinking this might be a bit more than coincidence).
The outfit also comes with a wig and eyes so you can recreate the whole look-which is good, because her regular hair would clash horribly with the colors! Of course you should be able to pre-order just this outfit if you want… which, yes, means Miku cosplay for the people who don’t want to shell out for the whole doll! Of course it isn’t that cheap at ¥18,900, but that’s actually a pretty amazing price for a full outfit, a wig, and eyes! Orders open tomorrow (!!) but stay open for over a month so you have a while to make up your mind.

Well it sure is a big day for IDOLM@STER news! First the painted reveal of Uzuki Shimamura, then the Wave trio, and now the biggest piece of all: it seems like Volks is (potentially) moving on from the IDOLM@STER Dollfie Dreams and taking on their smaller cousins, IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls! We’ve already seen Miki, Haruka, Chihaya and Yukiko from IM@S so I definitely think it’s time for some fresh faces! After all, the only other franchises to get this much attention are Fate/Stay Night, Shining World and ToHeart. Though of course it wouldn’t be a shocker if we saw more original IM@S girls down the line…
It’s really no surprise that Rin Shibuya is the first Cinderella Girl they’re taking on, since she seems without a doubt to be the most popular. She was the first to get a figure, and one of the first to get a figma: now, she’s the first Dollfie! Though given her petit size, I’m predicting a DDS… and, of course, an alternate stage outfit.

The only thing shocking about the announcement of a Dollfie Dream version of Miku Hatsune was how long it took Volks to get around to it. They were one of the very first companies to make a scaled figure of her way back in 2008, and they love milking popular characters (see the 5 Saber Dollfies). And they were smart enough to make her a pre-order doll, which means that if you have the money you can order her: no lottery torture!
Of course purchasing a Dollfie isn’t exactly a small commitment: at ¥62,000 she isn’t exactly cheap, and buying a doll isn’t like buying a figure. You have to worry about things like staining, broken joints, wig maintenance… but for Miku fans, there’s no doubt this is the ultimate grail. However, the face still hasn’t won me over: it just doesn’t feel like Miku. I am happy she comes with the new SS bust, which previously we’ve only seen on Chihaya. I guess we’ll see how I really feel when orders open on September 28th!

For a very long time now fans have been clamoring for a Dollfie Dream of Miku Hatsune. I mean, she’s kind of the ultimate idol and could draw in a huge number of fans. Much like the Saber DDs, it’s pretty much guaranteed that a bunch of former non-doll owners would jump on the bandwagon for Miku!
It seems like it’s finally happening–and not even as a blurry announcement or hint, we’ve got photos of Miku herself! Personally, I’m not that won over yet since her face looks annoyingly similar to Miki and Chihaya. Then again I love those two and don’t own either of them… but unless Miku is a pre-order doll, I am sure she will be nigh impossible to get! We do have a price for her already surprisingly-¥62,000-but no release date!
[UPDATE] It seems that Miku will definitely be a pre-order doll! Which is funny, because KOS-MOS and Momo aren’t even out yet. We also have a peek at her on display in a Senbonzakura outfit, maybe that will be her alternate outfit? And DD pre-orders usually come in sets of two…
[UPDATE 2] Her official page is up, and it seems like orders will open on September 28th.

Dolpa Nagoya 5 is taking place soon, and for once we aren’t getting our info on the new girls from scans! That’s right, no blurry pictures–but as always, beware, Dollfie Dream promotional shots are misleading as hell. They look so much better in person! First up is a re-release of the lovely Sakuya/Maxima from Shining Blade, this time in her Crimson Mode outfit (which Kotobukiya gave us a figure of!). I kind of regretted passing up on her the first time, so I don’t know if I can pass over a twintailed version.
Then we have two more IDOLM@STER girls! First it was Miki and Haruka, and now Yukiho and Chihaya who were actually announced back in March. Both are way prettier than I expected, but like Miki and Haruka I expect they’ll be Japan-only. Which is shame, I’m kind of in love with Yukiho’s face!

We already know that at Dolpa 29, which takes place on April 28th, we’ll have Dollfie Dream Asuna and Dollfie Dream Sister Alice, but what about the clothing? Well, since this is one of the bigger events there’s a whole lot. We’ve got stuff for every doll size (that Volks makes, of course), from Yo-SD to their large 1/3rd scale boys.
I’m sure most of you are interested in the DD stuff, and Volks seems to be going for a sports theme this time around. We’ve got cheerleader outfits and baseball getups that are really cute, but not my cup of tea. I like my girls to dress more naturally, so it’s the SD outfits that appeal to me this time around–especially that one in the header! You can check out all the pricing on Volks’ page for the event.

Dolpa 29 is under a month away at this point, which means it’s time to take a closer look at the ladies at the event! We’ve already seen Asuna, who at the moment is obviously the highlight of the event, but my eye has been on Alice Kunoi since her announcement. I’ve been waiting patiently for her official shots, and finally they are here!
Alice is just lovely, with a shy and almost aloof looking face. That type tends to appeal to me, and in fact she looks quite like some of my other dolls like Lucy and Sakuno. She also takes advantage of the new semi-white skin body, which is less pale than the previous one. The Dolpa is on the 28th, so get your wallets ready!

When Volks released Dollfie Dream Sisters Miki and Haruka, I thought that might be all we saw from the IDOLM@STER line. I mean there are so many girls, it’s not like they can make all of them! But as we’re finding out from Volks News 49, there will be at least two more–Yukiho Hagiwara and Chihaya Kisaragi! I’m a bit surprised, I thought for sure Azusa would be up next given her popularity and I was really hoping for Hibiki as well.
Thankfully neither of these girls sparks my interest (yet) because if they are anything like the first two they will be Japan-only. But who knows, maybe they’ve changed their minds and these girls will come to the US…. as pre-orders! Hey, I can dream. We also have scans of a super cute Alice in Wonderland themed look for Miki and Haruka.
