Dengeki 20th Anniversary Archive

  • While we had lots of new announcements at the Dengeki 20th Anniversary Festival, we also had a lot of… prize figures! Many of these are from the 29th Prize Fair, or even earlier–in fact, a few are coming out this month. And while nothing is new, a lot of previously unpainted figures have been finished, like the Sword Art Online set. We’ve got the new Shin Megami Tensei set, as well as a really gorgeous racing queen Rei! There’s also a good example of a very bad prize figure (good lord, that Tenshi…) as well as some pretty amazing looking Vocaloid sets of Gumi and Lily. [via Akibahobby]

  • Bandai is holding a Tamashii Nations event in only a few days, but apparently they have a lot of goodies stored up for it and had reveals to spare at Dengeki’s 20th Anniversary! They had quite a few of their scaled Figuarts ZERO line on display, starting with four cuties from Senran Kagura. Well, none of these are really new: in fact we saw them at Tamashii Nations 2011! Asuka, who went up for order quite some time ago, is getting two recolors: one pink, one blue. And Yomi, who vanished after the event, is still on track to be produced! Then we’ve got two AKB0048 figures: Nagisa Motomiya, who is already up for order, and the newly announced Chieri Sono! Chieri is just gorgeous, and while Nagisa wasn’t my stripe I really love her serene expression and blue hair. Knowing my luck (and Bandai’s lack of continuity) she’ll be an exclusive. • And now we have the painted reveal of the Dead Master Nendoroid, to go along with the figma Black Gold Saw! I really loved BGS but Dead Master is…. uh… really weird-looking. I mean, the green they used for her horns, wings & glasses is so awfully garish, it looks like she’s radioactive. And the veil is just gooey and gross looking, like she’s melting. Really, I’m not sure what went wrong here, but I sure hope they fix it before she goes up for order. [via baidu]

  • At WonFest, Griffon announced that they’d be doing a Yozora & Sena duo in their Monster Hunter outfits. Yozora was pretty awesome looking, and I was quite pleased with how she turned out. I was looking forward to Sena more though, since, well, I like Sena more! Plus her outfit is pink and has butterfly wings. Right up my alley! The sculpt has finally been revealed, and she looks gorgeous. Griffon is really improving! [via t_minatsuki]

  • At Wonder Festival, Good Smile Company and Max Factory announced that they’d be working on figmas & Nendoroids of the new BRS Animation designs. Black Rock Shooter’s figma went up a long time ago, but we knew we’d be getting at least Dead Master and Black Gold Saw in the line as well. Surprisingly, Black Gold Saw is painted first! She’s my favorite of the BRS girls, but Dead Master is definitely more popular. I think she looks good, with a much less glossy look than the original and some nice tweaks to her design. Definitely looking forward to this one! [via 2tohei]

  • While Alter has given us some lovely figures from the boys of Durarara!!, they really haven’t seen a lot in the way of figure attention. And why not? I mean, how cute would Nendos of these two be?! Well, we’re not getting Nendoroids, but instead Bandai is adding Izaya Orihara and Shizuo Heiwajima to their S.H.Figuarts action figure line. And we have a super blurry photo of them. Hooray! It’s nice to see more boys always, and I really love the design of both of these cuties (but especially Izaya). Come to me! [via wk333]

  • Quite a while ago, Volks announced that they’d be doing a figure of Aoi Kimi from Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon. Well, we’re finally seeing some progress! Not, you know, a sculpt or anything–this is Volks we’re talking about, the company that’s been delaying their Horizon Ariadust for 10 months now. No, I’m not kidding, so don’t expect Aoi anytime soon. She also got a Beach Queen announced today, so it’s a good day for her! [via oyaki_mitsuya]

  • We’ve already looked at some of the more… well, prominent Nendoroids at Dengeki’s 20th Anniversary event, but of course they had a ton more! We’ve got almost all the goodies teased by Mikatan: Kanna Tanigawa is painted (though in a different pose?), Fate is… yeah, still the same, and then we have Aichi from Vanguard. Some “older” Nendos popped up as well: the creepy cute mascot Nendoroid is painted (and horrifying) and Yui from Muv-Luv appeared as well, though without any real changes. There’s also a Petit set from IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls. Oh, and Akiho as well, but we already saw her a while back. Check ’em all out in the gallery! [UPDATE] We have images of the last teased Nendo, Alice, courtesy of GSC_Guma. SHE IS SO CUUUTE! [via HMV-Anime & itaru_414]

  • One of the big Persona announcements at this past Summer WonFest was a figma of the new android from Arena, Labrys! Surprisingly enough, we actually got a release of Aegis with her colors before Labrys herself was even completed. Thankfully, it seems they are finally making some progress! The school uniform looks a little clunky to me and not as elegant as the art, but then again this is a pretty tiny figma! [via HMV_Anime]

  • While the girls of the Fate/Stay Night franchise get a LOT of love, the boys seem mostly left out. Well, that’s been changing recently, but fan-favorite Gilgamesh seems left on the wayside. I mean, Kirtisugu got a figma even! So Gilgamesh not getting a figma (at least not that we know about), but he is going to be part of Bandai’s Chogokin line. I’m sure fans will be very pleased with this announcement! [UPDATE] We have a much clearer photo courtesy of labor_alfons. [via 665yobi]
